Scientists say that a star goes super nova in our galaxy roughly every 26 years. They can see how many have gone super nova by the remnants left. They have counted the past super novas and have found there have been approximately 250 in the life of our galaxy. 26 years x 250 = 6,500 years - This is the approximate age of the Earth as written in the Bible.

Did you managed to get some nice photos Marie on your walk?

Pleased to hear that everyone and everyone's family are ok through all those floods.

Not much physical activity going on as usual for me this weekend, but I'm sure I will find enough to amuse myself.

I must start going to bed earlier again.  5 nights in a row of 4am is simply not good enough.  I didn't even wake up until midday today.

I'm so lucky in as much as Louie sleeps when I do and therefore if we have a late night he doesn't need another wee until whenever I decide to wake up.  My last dog had his own routine that I had to stick to, which included a wee every morning at 7am at the latest.

Good morning everyone. I am not sleeping that well myself. 3 hours here and there in a day is all i get. Miracle gets up every 4 hours to go out and it drives me mad. She has a pee pad but uses it when she feels like it which is never. She loves going outside. I stayed up late last night thinking Maria and i would skype and she is in Alaska and by midnight she was signing papers as she just got there for her new job. I got up 30 minutes ago after hitting the bed at 4am. I'm tired and the trip to Florida is April 12. I need to rest so I can drive 4 hours for Dave and then let him take the rest of the trip and drive. I know a nap today is coming lol. We're not doing anything today and he is at work. Have a wonderful weekend.

I've always had a bad habit of staying up way to late Natalie as Sandy knows hahaha.

Most of my online friends are posting or interacting online when it's the middle of the night here so I tend to stay up for that.

Oh look at that Sandy ... Dougie comes in and manages to take the micky out of you already and it's only the 1st of the month!

You must have needed that sleep in Dougie Smile

It's ok Martha. I have a dog house waiting for him if he keeps misbehaving.

I have to admit that I really did nearly forget to create this new post. I think I"m going to have to set a reminder for myself on my calender to flash on the screen on the first of every month.

But I did think of you Dougie when I was posting it. I thought, "Yea! I got here before him this time" lol.

I have an emergency pee mat down for Louie too in the night. He's the only dog I've done it for though, but that's because it was sheer murder to try and train him. It took over a year before he was fully trained. But they do say that Chihuahuas are notorious for being hard to train, and some never will be fully trained.

He needed the sleep in because of his age Martha. :D

I've always been very lucky with house training my dogs. I think because I've generally had several at once the puppies just followed the old ones' lead and wandered out to the garden. They seemed to get the hang of it very quickly with just a rare minor accident or two. I always said my best collie trained a couple of my younger dogs too. She was so obedient all I had to do was ask her to do something and the others followed suit. I think they thought she was their mum. It made teaching recalls very easy. Call her and they all came running back. lol

Catherine is training her puppy at the moment and he is a little shite lol. She is saving up to have a doggie door put in so for now it's getting up and opening the doors for the 2 dogs all the time.

When she has a very long day and her partner is away for work I usually go over and let the dogs out at lunch time and sit with them for a bit.

Hahahaha he is so going to love your comment Wendy Smile

Well he asked for it with his about Sandy. lol

I don't envy Catherine with the training. I used to love training dogs and puppies but I don't think I have the patience required any more. I have no plans to get another dog but if I did it would be an old fogie that nobody else wanted from a rescue centre. One that plods at my pace. lol

My other dogs took 3 or 4 days only to train.  This little bugger so hates the wind and rain etc, that I had a hell of a time with him.  I got him in the December which isn't a good month to get a new pup for training.

But I'll tell you something, with Louie also being trained to go on a mat it's made my life so easy when one of the old girls or boys in my block of flats used to babysit for me.  It meant that they never minded because they didn't have to take him all the way downstairs if he needed a pee.  They just used to put a mat in their bathroom and he would go on that.

You are right Wendy Dogs do teach each other.  And in actual fact if you have an old cat when getting a puppy then the cat will be teaching the puppy.  I know that because of my old Bayley.  He was more cat than dog.  He in turn taught Sarah's dog that was, Alfie.

After sorting out my wardrobe I found I had a few clothes that I hadn't worn for a while and they smell slightly musty.  I'm going to have to put them through the wash a again, which is a pain.

Slept like a log last night and then woke up with backache.  Laying still in one place simply isn't good for you.

Whether looks fairly decent out there so I might take a longer walk with Louie today.

Dougie, you naughty boy!  :0)

I can imagine it would be so
helpful to have an older dog
that the younger ones want to emulate.

I would never have the patience now
to train a puppy.

I house sat for my friend once and she had
a small Dachshund named Tootsie.
Tootsie was still in training and so much work.
Not only did I have to walk her, feed her
a precise mixture of meat and oatmeal,
make a hot water bottle at her bedtime
to go in the kennel with her, but she needed
so much attention. And then I had to get up
in the middle of the night to take her out
to go to the bathroom.

I had dogs as a child, but I never had to deal
with training them.
I fed many a stray/feral cat when I lived in Florida.

But as an adult, I only had indoor
cats as pets for my children.
Which to me, are easy.
There is the litter box. Use it.  :0)

Today was my daughters last radiation treatment. Now it`s healing time.

The weather is gorgeous today.

Oh thank goodness that's over with now Dougie.  It's really horrible for her and also for all of you to watch her go through it.

Yup Kerri.  Dougie is only allowed up to 10 bad boy points and then he gets put in the dog house for 7 days.

I was killing myself laughing at your story about Tootsie Kerri, because not only have all my dogs been fussy in similar ways, but I also had a cat that was exactly the same.  My elder Sister said to me one day "For goodness sake Sandy stop letting that cat tell you what to do", lol.

Louie tells me when it's time to have the chewy stick that cleans his teeth.  He will ask a couple of times a day for his treat and he wont let me shut any doors.  He likes all the doors open, including the bathroom door.  He tries every night to tell me when to go to bed, but I wont allow that.  But baring in mind I usually live in a studio flat I make a concession and turn the main light off for him and just leave a lamp in the corner on so he can settle down and leave me in peace.

Oh that is good to hear Dougie and sending lots of healing vibes her way!

I'm hoping at least the toilet training is all done by the time I have to house/doggy sit for them in July.

I need to get of the computer and get a few chores done and then hopefully get into to see my GP about my thumb.

Great news Dougie. I'm going to get Carrie to slap you soon though if you don't behave.

Oh begorra! I've never had fussy, spoiled dogs. They learned early to fit around me not the other way around. Obviously there are practical changes you have to make if you have dogs but only making sure they get exercised and fed etc. Even my Alpha dogs knew they were one step below me on the hierarchy. I can't imagine filling hot water bottles for them. lol

It was a lovely day yesterday and my sister and niece and I sat out for a while before my sister did the old dears' hair for them. Today it's grey, miserable and wet. A total contrast. I've got some boring housework to do and then I'll be off up to my brother's. I don't think we'll be sitting outdoors somehow.

It's all grey here too Wendy.

I think Louie still knows who's boss.  Well, I hope he does.

Hope your thumb isn't too sore Martha.

Sarah, Martyn and Aimee are all off to Southamption in a tick. Leaves me in the peace and quite to play.

Good Morning Folks! This is a very rainy day for us in Ontario. It's been ongoing since last night...supposed to be with us throughout the day. Winds will be quite gusty too. Just hope the gustyness (sp) is blown out by tomorrow morning...garbage day Wednesday and I don't want my organics cart toppled nor my bagged garbage blowing everywhere!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Reply problem is fixed Sandy...thanks heaps!

Hi everyone.

Sandy,
That is so funny, your sister telling you
to stop letting the cat give you orders. Smile

Anne and Wendy,
Hope you get some sunny weather coming your way
soon.
We had a small sprinkling of rain this morning
but it will be 60F and sunny today.

Martha,
Hope your thumb is healing.
I never realized how much we use our thumbs
until I hurt mine once!

I'm off from work today.

Have a happy rest of your day!

Wow look at this beautiful skin Smile Great job Sandy!

I haven't even looked at mine lately but hoping to get back into it soon.

My thumb is not too bad tonight and I did manage to bath and disinfect it and bandage it up properly and this will have to do till I can get in at the doctors.

Kerri you are so right with that statement and I forgot how much I use my thumb while typing on this keyboard ... ouch.

Hope the weather will behave for you Anne and it sounds like you both have a dull day too Wendy and Sandy.

Thanks Martha, I expect you recognise it from the one I made on Yuku.  I've always loved this skin.  I couldn't duplicate it exactly but I think I've done a fair job, even if I do say so myself.  There are a couple of quirks in it that I simply can't work out yet, I doubt if anyone would notice them.

Thanks Anne for hanging around while I fixed it.  It was much appreciated.  Without you testing I would never have known if I'd fixed it ok.

It used to irritate my Sister something chronic Kerri when the cat was ordering me to open a door for it or move something off of a chair that he wanted to sleep on.

I'm sure you wont get an infection Martha.  You would have cleaned it well enough I'm sure.

Got a lot done around here today.
And played on the computer, too.

It's easier to catch the apartment
clothes washing and drying machines
completely open and not being used
during the week.

I decided to make what we normally consider
breakfast food for dinner.
We had eggs and pancakes.

Take care.

There was a time that every Saturday for dinner/tea we had a full English Breakfast fry up.

Sausages, Bacon, Eggs, Beans, Mushrooms, Tomatoes and Fried Bread.

I remember when I hurt my thumb trying to figure out how to fasten buttons and tie shoelaces. We really do use our thumbs for virtually everything. Even drinking coffee was hard work.

I never eat breakfast but I used to regularly eat cornflakes for supper.

Another grey, drizzly morning but I live in hope Kerri.

Great job on the skin Sandy.

PostSubject: Re: April Chin Wag   05/04/17, 09:11 am

Thanks re: praise on the skin Wendy.  This system is all built on tables which I've never had to customise before.  That is one thing about Yuku, their skins are built with a load of classes so it's so easy once you know the class to customise.   Here we are having to make our own classes up most times and also juggle with the tables.

I love cereals before bed.  But then I do like a bit of supper.  When I was young we always had supper, yet now I am the only one in the family that eats it.  I think all that comes from so called expert advice saying we shouldn't eat after 8pm and silly things like that.  All the bull shit they feed us over the years about what we should do and shouldn't do is doing us no good at all.  All it does is make people worry constantly over their health.

If I happen to have a bad night and mention it, I'm told, "Well, you shouldn't eat before bed like you do."  - It doesn't matter that if I don't have supper then when I go to bed I am so hungry I can't sleep, lol.

I saw a video on Facebook yesterday now telling us we shouldn't sleep on our right hand side because the organs don't work properly if we do that.  It went into great detail how sleeping on our left side is good for us.  Now we are going to have people that are unable to sleep because they are worried about rolling over and laying on their right.

The other thing that enrages me, is that women are made to feel so guilty if they don't breast feed.  Honestly, there is so much bloody judging that goes on nowadays that it's ridiculous.

Lovely day out there today but so bloody cold.  Today I should be able to do a couple of machine loads of washing those clean but musty clothes that I sorted out when I did my wardrobe the other day.  The washing machine I think is free completely today.

Ha I hear you about all the so called health advises that bombard us everywhere Sandy!
There was also one that said sleeping on your right side is better for heart health .. so let's start tossing and turning now (not).

Amazing how quick we get used to a certain way of coding and creating skins Sandy! I do like the classes that yuku has and am not so keen on the tables here but oh well; another thing to learn lol.
Now I'm wondering what quirks there are so I must have a good look when I'm not so tired to see if I can pick them hahaha.

I've gotten in such a routine now Wendy that if I don't eat breakfast I get the shakes.
Nothing wrong with having cereal at night either. If anything that is better then the heavy dinners we eat really.
Growing up we always had a our dinner meal at lunch time and a light lunch type meal at night.

I love pancakes Kerri and I make all sorts when the mood strikes Smile
