Facts

Shakespeare made up the name “Jessica” for his play Merchant of Venice.
Shakespeare probably based it on the biblical name ISCAH, which would have been spelled Jescha in his time.

You said you thought you could come here from Yuku and post right away Dougie. I didn't see the problem. Oh never mind I'm confusing myself now.

My SIL joined us for lunch yesterday so we got to hear all about her trip. She'd already told me a bit on the phone but we got to hear more details. She had a great time and even had time for a full day in San Fransisco before flying home.

I suffer from SAD too Sandy but not as bad as some people do. It's the long spells without even a glimpse of the sun that get to me. Things always seem much better when it's sunny even if nothing has changed. I hope you get offered a place with lots of sun coming in.

I didn't want to use the word SAD because unless people suffer with it themselves they tend to think it's a made up condition.  I have more discipline now, not a lot, but more, to force myself to function normally knowing how I feel wont last long.

I did think about getting myself one of those UV lamps that they say can help, I think about 20 mins a day you use it for, during the dark days to see if that would help.  But it's one of those things, that when one is feeling great when the sun shines you forget about and in the dark days you just don't have the mental energy, or even the phyisical energy, to bother about anything.

Now there has been so much talk lately about vitamin D, I'm wondering if lack of that could be the problem with those of us that suffer from it.

However, it's a gorgeously sunny day out there today, and all is right with the world.  Well, almost, I still am longing for my flat to come through and get the next phase of my life started.

I think @Dougalarse meant he has to read through all of our ramblings before he can post.  I could be wrong.  I think the old boy is worried he might miss something, lol.

I can't believe we are already over a quarter of the way through this year.  Time is flying but the weeks are dragging.  I suppose that it always feels like that when one is waiting for something to happen.

Well, I suppose I should get off of here for a bit.  Bathe, get dressed and then I have to go on a hunt for my front door key.  I lost the blasted thing a couple of days ago.  I know it's in the house somewhere because the day it went missing I hadn't long let myself in with it.

Natasja suffered really bad with SAD when she was little Sandy and it completely changed after we migrated to Australia. I agree on lacking the natural vitamin D too.

I need another coffee I think as my fingers are not hitting the keys right to type here lol.

You could be right about Dougie. He is very nosy. lol

I've never tried one of those lamps but they do help some people. I do take Vitamin D though because we never get enough sunshine here even in Summer. I'm glad you've had some but it's rainy and blustery here and 46F possibly rising to 50F this afternoon.

I also suffer from CFS Sandy which even now some people (including some doctors) are still skeptical about. Trust me it's real. I have pernicious anaemia too but thankfully that's easily treatable.

Oh heck Wendy, you are in a state.

If they can't see something under a microscope or scans etc, then Doctors simply put everything else down to laziness or imagination.

In the old days, things like CFS would have been called being delicate and it was quite acceptable and understood that some people were "delicate".  SAD would have been called having the malaise.  Once again accepted as a genuine condition.  So these conditions aren't new.  Unfortunately in todays society, if you aren't busy rushing around with plenty of energy, dashing here, there and everywhere, then you are lazy.

I bet SAD is very rare in Australia with so much sun so much of the year.

Weather not so good today.  Overcast and look like rain might be on it's way.

Same again here. Less rain but drizzly and grey with a chilly breeze.

I think you're right about Australia. I've even known CFS sufferers too who have improved tremendously after moving there. Pernicious anaemia used to be known simply as wasting disease and people died from it. They literally wasted away and the cause was unknown. All I have to do is turn up for B12 injections on a regular basis. Inconvenient but it beats the alternative.

I'm anything but delicate lol but I know what you mean. Strangely the majority of sufferers are type A personalities and have previously been extremely active. People like professional athletes. I used to play Premier League Netball for years. Mine started after a bout of glandular fever. I improved slowly over the years until I fell and broke several ribs and got double pneumonia as a result. Then back came the CFS with a vengeance. I've learned to live with it and work around it but it can be very depressing and frustrating. More so when you're used to doing everything for yourself. I really hate admitting I need help with stuff. lol Not that I'm at all stubborn of course.

Roll on September when I'm off to sunny California for a couple of weeks.

You would think that by now they would have worked out how one can give themselves B12 injections or such so they don't have to keep going to the doctors.  Sarah's Mark also used to have to have them but only once every 3 months I think.

I've alway said that pushing ones body to the limit constantly simply isn't good.  Look how many athletes drop dead suddenly from a heart attack.

The weather today simply can't make up it's mind what to do.  I don't want to set off out only to be caught in a downpour, but equally I don't want to stick indoors all day.  I'm giving myself until after lunch to make up my mind.

I bet you are like a kid at Christmas time knowing how close it is now Wendy.

My daughter Catherine has that too and goes for monthly B12 injections Wendy. They do reckon it's often hereditary but no idea which side of the family she got this from.

I hear more and more about CFS here too and read an article not that long ago that they think they found out the cause of CFS; something to do with nerve endings in hands and feet I think it was.

After all the running around I did today I promptly fell asleep after dinner lol. Now right awake at 1 am .. sigh. I guess I can have a late night and just sleep in tomorrow seeing as I've got nothing on anyway.

Hi everyone.

I have heard of those lights as well
as people suffer from not as much sun in the winter months
in the state I live in.

My doctor suggested I start taking vitamin D
a few years ago. I don't drink milk and don't get much
vitamin D from sunshine in the winter.

After work, I stopped and picked up some baskets
and some bags of candy for my granddaughters.
(For Easter)
I also bought eggs for them to boil and color/paint.

Now if only I can keep my husband out of the
Reese's Peanut Butter minis.
He is not supposed to be eating sugary sweets.

Hope everyone has a great rest of the day!

Good luck with that Kerri. I bet he sneaks some. lol

CFS starts after a virus in many cases and it's widely believed there's an autoimmune factor involved. That would tie in with the pernicious anaemia in my case since that's an autoimmune disease too. Not hereditary in my case unless it's from a long way back. I haven't read that about CFS Martha but they're often claiming to have found the cause but never the cure. We live in hope.

A miserable grey morning again here. Grocery shopping to do and then I need to get a few more chores done. Visitors arriving tomorrow for a few days and the power will be going off a few times while they do some jobs for me so I won't be around on Sunday and Monday. Should make it tomorrow unless they rock up very early.

I also dozed yesterday Martha and therefore couldn't sleep at a normal time. Another late night for me it was.

I think I might get some vit D too Kerri. Although I'm not sure if taking suppliments actually do anything.

Have fun with your visitors Wendy. Hope you aren't put out too much as the work is done.

Yesterday my eldest Granddaughter's boyfriend was here and he got up and fixed the bolt back into place that had fallen off of my very large swivel armchair. It had been very uncomfortable with the bolt missing as every time I sat on it it rocked forward.

So that's another job done.

Today I walked to Lidl and bought all the chocolates that I will be distributing on Sunday. Gosh they were heavy to carry back.

I could have taken the trike but after it being so long that I have been out on the roads with it I thought it best to have a couple of runs out through quiet roads before tackling the main roads.

I got back to the Daughter and eldest GD with her boyfriend clearing out the garage, throwing away and having a general tidy up. I have many boxes in there and in preparation for me moving soon they are bringing all my stuff forward so it won't have to be done just before removal men turn up.

Have a nice Easter weekend all.

I got up early as usual and went in to work
for a few hours.
Then I took three of my granddaughters
to a Good Friday church service.

After church we went to an indoor park.
It was one we had not gone to before.
My granddaughters had a great time.

Some of the other children playing there
seemed to be having a particularly bad day.
Lots of cry/whining.
Needless to say, I was happy to get away
from the crying and noise when we left.

A little bit of gentle rain outside now.
A soft rain-scented breeze through the screen.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the day.

Oh pleased to hear the chair got fixed Sandy Smile and yes good idea to bring your boxes to the front.

I have not bought any chocolate eggs as I will only see my lot on Monday when we celebrate my eldest daughters birthday by going out for a nice lunch. She's on night shift at the moment and my son is working today and tomorrow, while my younger daughter is working today and doing extra studies at Uni tomorrow.
Not complaining though as I am very proud of my 3 for their hard work and studies and great ethics and attitudes!

A friend came over yesterday afternoon so we decided to make it a movie night with pizza and nibbles. Had a lovely evening and we watched 3 movies.

Oh good luck with the work being done by your visitors Wendy! Hopefully you get to enjoy some nice time with them as well.

Kerri your grand kids are lucky to have you Smile

Have a great weekend everyone and for those that celebrate it; Happy Easter.

Nice to get some jobs done Sandy and some preparation for your move. It's often small things like missing bolts that cause the most irritation and then satisfaction when they're done. Sounds like some people are going to get very spoiled if the chocolate weighed that much. lol

Lovely that your girls enjoyed themselves Kerri and weren't part of the whining and crying. I couldn't tolerate that for very long these days. My patience ran out years ago.

That's the best kind of night Martha. Pizza, something to wash it down with and some good movies. Enjoy your lunch on Monday and Happy Birthday to your daughter. You're quite right to be proud of their work ethics. So many these days want everything handed to them on a platter.

Have a Happy Easter everyone. I better move if I want to get anything done before my daughter arrives.

Not only are your Grand Kids lucky to have you Kerri but you are so lucky to have such lovely ones.

Yeah, I was pleased to see my boxes being brought forward like that.  The garage is so chocablock that I was dreading sorting them all out when the time came.  I seem to be getting all sorts of jobs jobbed this last week.

Yeah, I did buy quite a lot of chocolate yesterday.  But funnily enough it didn't come to much cost wise.

I'm sure you wil have great fun Monday Martha.

Today is bitterly cold although bright.  Louie and I didn't stay out long for our walk.  He is now back in bed with Jessie.

Hello everyone!
I've somehow been pretty busy lately, making art and loaves of bread & buns. Last night I made a roast chicken dinner with all the trimmings. I even made blackberry turnovers. Today I've been busy getting other things done. House stuff.
I've had trouble logging in here and a few minutes ago I finally had time to reset my password. My saved info was all wrong including email address, username & password. It all sorted out now but I still have to do the same at Spherical's forum. Then I'm good to go until the next time Chrome updates and messes with my settings & preferences again, lol.
I'm ready for a nice rest in front of the TV.
Have a wonderful weekend ♥
Happy Easter

That is so weird that even the email address was changed on you Elaine. Best be careful there!

Not long before it gets too wet and cold to do work outside, which means I get more time to get creative on the computer again Smile

I am going to try and have a decent bedtime tonight; wish me luck lol.

Hope you had a good time with your daughter, Wendy.

Elaine,
Those loaves of bread and blackberry turnovers sound delish.

Sandy,
It was chilly here this morning, but the sun warmed things
up by the afternoon.

Martha,
I am very thankful that my granddaughters are
a big part of my life.

Just relaxing after a long day at work.

Hope you all have a nice rest of your day.

I did thanks Kerri. We even found somewhere that was open to eat out on Sunday which was lovely. Got a few jobs done and they'll be back in a couple of weeks to finish off hopefully.

I'm not surprised you were sleepy after all that cooking, baking and art Elaine.

Back to boring housework for me this morning. My visitors/workers did sort of clean up after the jobs but our definition of clean is a bit different. lol Off to visit my brother this afternoon. The sun is shining but it's still frosty out there. Should have warmed up a bit by the time I go out though.

Hi all!

It was in the sixties today but very windy
so it seemed colder.

Is it difficult to find restaurants open for business on Sundays
where you live, Wendy.
Sundays are a big day for people to go out to eat here.

Busy day at work today.
I'm looking forward to dinner and then watching something
on Netflix to relax. :0)

Good morning lovely people Smile I have no idea yet what I'm going to do today but the mist/fog is clearing here and the sky is bright and sunny so might try and do a little tidying up outside.

I need to re-pot a few plants but holding of till my thumb feels better. Only thing is that those plants need to be re-potted now really ... hmm we'll see.

Try and be careful at least Martha. Not much point telling you to wait I suppose. lol

Only because it was Easter Sunday Kerri. Normally Sunday is a day for eating out here too. Christmas Day and Easter Sunday are the only two days of the year our supermarkets and other big retailers are required to close by law too. The law doesn't affect restaurants I don't think but a lot choose to close anyway.

I have laundry to do and a cat to groom but other than that I haven't decided what to do with the day yet.

Wow, there has been quite a bit of posting in here since I last posted.  Just had to read back a fair way.

I used to make all my own bread years ago Elaine.  There was nothing like it.  Trouble was it was so nice that everyone used to eat it so quickly, I could hardly keep up.

Yesteday I went out with Aimee and her boyfriend for them to go and buy a couple of indoor plants.  They didn't find any they took a shine to but we had fun looking around all the sheds, conservatories and greenhouses there.  I love sheds.

Over here we have a programme on once a year for a competition to see who can create the most unusual shed.  I missed last year's one, but it normally runs for 4 weeks on tele.  These are pictures from this years.  Although I would imagine the show is also on Youtube now too https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/gallery/2016/may/25/shed-of-the-year-2016-competition

I've never lived anywhere to have a space for a shed.  But what fun it would be to do one up.

These are all the winners from 2007 to last year http://www.shedblog.co.uk/previous-winners-of-shed-of-the-year/

Although I haven't always agreed with some of the ones that won.

I'm just going to have a clean up today, then may watch a couple of films.  I also need to catch up on Supernatural.  I have hours of catching up to do on that.
