Facts

Shakespeare made up the name “Jessica” for his play Merchant of Venice.
Shakespeare probably based it on the biblical name ISCAH, which would have been spelled Jescha in his time.

The one called Austin Camper Shed, by Stephen Alleyne in Norfolk, would be considered a Tiny House elsewhere.

I do like the Old Garden Shed, owned by Brian in Hastings ... a mini house and what a lot of work has gone into building this one!

The loveshack one is unique but would be better usable if it where to be square I reckon.

Oh Wendy I did not do anything outside in the end. Too risky yet to do that type of work and it's still way to tender as well. So I was being good and behaved! I know it must come as a shock  cyclops so better write this one on the calendar because that won't happen in a hurry again.

lol Maybe it's just as well it's still tender.

I liked The West Wing and the Allotment Roofed Shed. Some of the others were a bit too out there for my taste.

Raining this morning but fairly light so far. It's bin day so I need to put some clothes on and go and sort out the wheely. I could quite happily just sit here otherwise. I'm in lazy mode. Better strip the bed while I'm up too or I'll be putting that off all morning. The cat likes to "help" me put the fresh bedding on.

I just want a shed, a garden to put it in and the money to do it up, lol.  None of which I am ever likely to get.

Good ole Wendy or you might be in trouble for forgetting Dougle Arse.

Just got a letter through the post telling me to attend hospital next week and then the following week I have to have a minor operation.  I'm praying that all will be well once they get inside, stitch the bladder wall to stop the bowel leaking into it, take out the stent and then hopefully not have another stent put back in for yet another 6 months.  I have no idea either if my left kidney is no longer enlarged until after the op.  Oh fingers crossed that this will then be the end of all the crap I have had to put up with for the last year plus.

The weatherman's on glue again, it was supposed to be raining so that I could clean my home without a conscious of not being able to make it out there for some quick pics of some neighborhood flowers.

I really don't like my weatherman. Evil or Very Mad

Morning all Smile

I don't really have space for a shed like that but I do have a build on store room outside and that is enough for just me.

Wow Sandy that has suddenly crept up then hey! I guess not so for you so here's wishing it all to go well and that no stents are needed!

Yeah, I think they may have had a cancellation.  They have never given me such short notice before.  But I don't mind.  I just want to get it all over with.

Hi Marie.

I hope all is well when they go rooting about in there Sandy. No more stent would be a bonus. Getting that wall stitched is a priority. Fingers crossed the kidney has recovered well. I'm sure it's been working overtime.

Linette I always assume our weather forecast is wrong because it so often is and just look out of the window.

Grocery shopping to do this morning and I really need to buy a birthday present for a lady in her nineties. Her birthday is next Friday and so far I'm coming up blank.

If she is a friend and not an important relative buy her something old fashioned.  It depends as to whether she is an old 90 year old or a young 90 year old.

Something she might have been given when younger that we don't think to buy people now.

Like a box of lovely embroidered hankies.
A pretty hand held fan.
A half pinny with big pockets for her to carry around things like her glasses, the remote or whatever she likes to have near her.
If she has a small table then a pretty table cloth for it.
A delicate scarf.
Shawl
Does she read?
Fancy note book and a nice pen.
Bottle of port/sherry with some nice cheeses.
Fancy tin of tea and tin of nice biscuits.
Or fancy tea cup and saucer with a tin of tea.
Letter opener.

Morning all Smile

Oh yes I agree Elaine, that is truly a perfect list of gifts to get. Nicely done Sandy Smile

I have slept so much in the last couple of days that I probably will be awake for days now! The fact that it's getting cooler and cooler here does help to.

My thumb is not too bad but I do have a slight infection in it. My own GP was not there so the nurse called in one of their other doctors and this young man looked and then grabbed the thumb to have a good squeeze ... or so he thought! My response was short lol ... "don't you dare f%^& squeeze that raw thumb"! ... I said to him that I was only there to report back and show the progress of healing etc as per request from my own GP.

He then said ok let me go and give you a prescription because you do need antibiotics. He left before I could say anything and came back shortly after with a prescription.

I took one look at it and ripped it to pieces; leaving him with a shocked face lol. I asked him if he had actually looked at my file at all or if he had just grabbed my name and put it on the prescription?

The nurse was slowly moving out of the way by then hahaha as she knew what was coming.

This young doctor went back to his room and came back about 5 min later and said "wow I see you have a "few" allergies to antibiotics so I can't really give you anything to help with this".

So I said ..."I know and this is why I am here because I need to report the infection and you need to write down what I'm going to do to try and get the infection away". He just looked at me blank faced and oh boy I seriously needed every inch of patience to stop myself from thumping him across the head!

So I need to do more cleaning/washing out and re-bandaging it a few times a day and I need this special irrigation fluid that only the doctor can give me. I mentioned this to this young twat and he had no bloody idea what I was on about! I continued telling him that I was washing the wound in epsom salt water and then let the thumb dry before applying the bandage. Still with a blank face he went on .. "so how is that going to work then? why use epsom salt? who told you to do that? ....
Seriously!!!!!! He's the doctor and he had no clue of an idea that one can use epsom salt to clean wounds? Where the hell did he do his doctorate?
Anyway I just asked him to sign the piece of paper so I could get the supply I needed and I would take it up with the nurse and then go home ... sigh.

So after all that bloody piss farting around I finally got my thumb washed/cleaned and iodine applied and re-bandaged and the nurse gave me a bottle of irrigation fluid; a spray bottle of iodine and some bandages and I was on my way home again.

Hahahaha it is really funny when you read it like that I know and I can laugh about it today, but yesterday all I wanted to do is slap that doctor silly and tell him to go back to school!

I have reported his stupid behaviour and advice though and will do a proper report on it on Monday when I see my own GP. Now if I was so in awe of doctors I would have just grabbed that prescription; filled it and gotten an anaphylactic shock from it. Mad This all just made me wonder how many patients end up with the wrong meds just because a doctor in such a situation does not look into the patients records!

I had a similar but less serious run in with a doctor a few years ago Martha. It's funny now but at the time I just wanted to wipe the smug, arrogant look off his face. Patronizing young twerp got an ear bashing he'll never forget though. lol

Thanks for all the suggestions Sandy. The lady concerned is my late sister's mother-in-law or my brother-in-law's mum whichever you prefer. Her and mum have been known as The Merry Widows for the last twenty odd years. Always did a lot of things together until recently when mum had to give up driving. Both are a lot less mobile now. The trouble is when they get to that age and with so many of us in the family they've done and got everything several times over.

Martha I've always used hydrogen peroxide solution (20%) for stuff like that. It's been a godsend over the years with my animals too. Great for flushing out nasty abscesses on rabbits, guinea pigs and anything else you care to mention. lol I've even used it for stubborn splinters that refuse to be dug out with a needle. It's my cure all but I'll have to try Epsom salts.

Last night my laptop finally died.  Although I will put it in the apple shop to see if they can fix it in some way.  I tried myself this morning to do all sorts of restores but no luck.

I was about to organise getting bathed and dressed and get Sarah to run me down to pcworld to buy another one.  But...........  Sarah has/had one that I bought her 2 christmases ago so that she could do her homework on it for her medical stuff.  She only ever used it for a handful of months for that and that only.  So she asked me if I would like that one.   I instantly said yes, and insisted she take the money that I paid for it.  It was after all originally a present.

Now I am sitting here learning how to use the thing.  I haven't touched a windows computer for almost 10 years.  I feel such a novice.

I can't even remember what the firefox developer tool is called for looking at colours.  I have so many programmes I need to download.

Hi Everyone!
Oh Martha, that must have been so frustrating
dealing with the doctor who almost poisoned you!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, Sandy.
Hope some of your health nightmares will be over soon.

Yesterday I went in to work for a few hours,
then went to a drive in and wash your car yourself place.
Then grocery shopping, laundry, swept the patio,
made homemade au gratin potatoes and Cajun pork chops.
I decided I am not going to do anything today
if I don't want to. :0)

Hope everyone has a wonderful rest of your day!

Wendy I do have hydrogen peroxide solution (20%) in the house but am a bit reluctant to use it on my thumb as all the nerves from the pulled nail bed area are exposed and it's very painful to touch still. I might read up on that though as I don't fancy using my thumb as a guinea pig just yet.

What got me so riled up is the fact that most irrigation solutions are sodium based so for this doctor to question epsom salts was stupid. Epsom salt has magnesium in it as well and is so good for healing.

Kerri the thing is that had this young doctor taken the time to open my file it would have flashed him in the face that I have all these allergic reactions to medication.

Oh gheez Sandy sorry to hear your laptop died on you! You did mention it the other day that you thought it was on its way out.

I will make a post for you with all the links you need if you like Smile

That sounds like a real pain Sandy. Nice that Sarah had one handy but it will take quite a while to adjust to for sure. Is it Win 7? Great that Martha has a lot of the links you'll need though. That will save a lot of swearing.

The hydrogen peroxide would definitely sting Martha but usually only for seconds. I can understand why you'd prefer to stick with what you have though.

We had two lovely sunny days over the weekend. Back to rain this morning but it was a pleasant change while it lasted. I need to get stuck into cleaning up here but I'm still in lazy weekend mode. I did clean my keyboard and monitor yesterday though. Priorities and all that. lol

Hahaha I love your priorities Wendy :D

I did ask my GP about the peroxide and she told me to hold of for a bit and to keep on using the irrigation for now. Next visit she will have to drain some of the fluid trapped so that will be fun!! pale

Watched the 1st episode of The Voice tonight and man ... how many bloody ads can they throw between segments! Last year a lot of people complained to the tv channel about the ads but it's clear that no one has taken notice of that ... argh.

Sheesh that would drive me nuts. I hope you get it all sorted Elaine.

Sounds painful Martha. Try not to turn the air blue. Our version of The Voice switched from the BBC to ITV3 this year so now it has adverts. The only good thing about that is it gives you time to make a cup of coffee.

We actually had some snow last night and the wind was blowing it horizontally. Winter returned. This morning it's sunny and frosty. Housework to do this morning and then off to my brother's after lunch.

Yikes that's not nice to not have internet Elaine! Hope it this guy can fix it properly for you.

Yes Wendy that's the only thing ads are good for. I can understand it from a commercial point of view as they know a lot of people will be watching the tv then, but still, when it annoys so many they might want to tone down the amount of ads they show.
Of course I always have YouTube to consider ... or so I thought ... but as of last year they have clamped down on showing season clips on YouTube arghhh.

While you're getting a snow dusting; we are getting warm Autumn weather of around 30C here.

lol That figures. It's cold and sunny this morning but yesterday turned into a real wintry mix. Wind, rain, sleet, snow and when I was driving home hailstones were battering my windscreen.

That's a shame about the clips Martha. I often watched some of your show on YouTube.

I just got a text from my sister asking if I want to do a maths test this morning. All in the name of research she says. Heaven help me. My maths used to be very good but I don't even know what half the terms mean any more let alone how to work them out. I'm going senile.

Hi all.  It's windows 10 Wendy.  I thought it was all going to be a pice of cake with just the swapping ownership to me but today with a new windows update half the bits that it on here simply aren't working anymore.  I can't even get skype to load on the damn thing at the moment.  It's telling me it's incompatable.

I've spent hours following instructions from other complaining about this but it's still not all working as it really should.  So tomorrow I am going to put it all back to factory settings before I get too much of my own stuff on here and then start afresh with it.

So I may be missing most of the day.

I hope you get your internet sorted easily Elaine.  It's all such a pain.

As for ads on tele.  I never, ever watch a tv show live.  I always record them so that I can skip the ads.

I went for my pre-op interview today, or whatever they call it.  Not at all looking forward to having another op even if it is a simple one.  They have me down for day surgery but I was told today it possible could be an over nighter.  Mind you it's not the staying in over night I object to, it's the getting there at 7.15am only to sit around for 4 or 5 hours waiting for my turn, all the time gasping with thirst.  I loath that bit.

That will be on the Thursday 4th May.

Sounds like you've had some old programs on there Sandy that either hadn't been updated recently or became a compatibility problem because of win10 updates.

There are times where I loath all those updates and it's the same with my iPhone; there always seems to be an update for one of the apps I have. Thank goodness for WiFi and not dial up!!!

Hope you can get it all sorted and that your win laptop will run smooth afterwards.

Good to hear your op is 1 week away. Not that I want you to have another one but good that's it's done soon!
