Shakespeare made up the name “Jessica” for his play Merchant of Venice.
Shakespeare probably based it on the biblical name ISCAH, which would have been spelled Jescha in his time.

Oh that's right, it's a long weekend for you in the UK isn't it?

I watched The Voice tonight and sorted and folded some of the washing.

Yup, but I didn't realise it until you said about it being a long weekend.  Bank holidays now just seem to pass me by now that my girls are no longer at school and I am aware they are on holiday.

Even Sarah not coming back until Mondy didn't even penetrate that she usually works on a Mondy.

I managed yet another month getting to start the new thread before Dougie got here first, lol.

I am getting good.

Over here in the UK May Day is celebrated in every town with fetes, parades, maypole and morris dancing.   It's in celebration of the first day of spring and is an original pagan festival.

Here is a video to show you the morris dancing if you don't know what that is.

Traditionaly it's always men but nowadays there are mixed and ladies morris dancers as well.  Each town tends to have it's own style of dress.  And there are many different dances.  The stick dance below is one of my favourites.

I worked a 10 hour day today
so I didn't mind that it rained all day.
I did notice all the tulips up in my neighborhood
on my way home. So beautiful!

Hope everyone has a lovely rest of your day!

You have some lovely traditions over there going way back Sandy Smile

It's a sunny Tuesday here and I need to get dressed and get a few things done before a friend rocks up for coffee and to grab a few plants of me.

I think so too Martha.  The main problem though is, the weather.  All these great events we have during the year are usually spoiled a bit by rain.  Not that a bit of rain stops the British from enjoying it all.  We are so used to it.

Even trying to have a BBQ in this country usually ends up with it peeing down, lol.

The one night I do love is Guy Fawkes Night.  I've been to many different towns for that over the years.  Now that's held on the nearest Saturday to 5th November so it's not only risky for rain but also bloody cold.

I love Tulips Kerri.  They are one of my most favourite flowers.  I'm not usually a fan of the larger flowers, much prefering the little ones like Primroses.  I also love Heather and Bluebells.

I want to bring over a couple more of my webpages today, so that will keep me occupied.

They got a lot of work done for me Martha and also left a lot of mess for me to clean up. To be fair they did the worst but I've spent hours cleaning off paint splatters all over the bathroom and dust everywhere and this morning I've been mopping wallpaper paste and other gunk off floors. I'm worn out but they did a very good job.

Taking my car for a decent run on the motorway when I've recovered from cleaning. It's hardly been anywhere for the last months.

Glad you managed to tame the laptop Sandy. Amazingly we had a dry weekend and Monday here and the sun is out today. That's probably because we were working indoors not trying to go to an outdoor event. lol

Sounds like they did a lot of work and you are happy with that Wendy Smile Yes the cleaning afterwards is always a pain and when I paint I always try and wipe up any splatters as I go.

Hi Dougie Smile good to see you are still breathing! You are missed on the boards but real life can get very busy and of course has to come first. Take care of yourself too!

I need to make a few phone calls and do a few things online today but other then that I have nothing planned.

No plans for today.
It's early right now. I have been waking up all night with the same dream about a husband trying to off his wife.
Odd going back into a dream.

That sounds slightly disturbing. lol I have gone back into dreams before but not murderous ones. I rarely dream at all now.

Sunny again this morning. Slightly chillier but pleasant enough. I'm debating whether washing will dry outdoors. It's supposed to stay dry so I may as well give it a go. It'll probably rain now.

My sister and I used to do Maypole Dancing every year when we were kids.

That could simply mean there is something in your life that you want to get rid of or change Sally.

Bummer about the mess having to be cleaned up Wendy.  Is all the work you need doing finished now or is there more to do?

Hiya @Dougalarse - It's just nice when you do pop in.  As Martha says, sometimes the real world is just more important than message boards.

I did country dancing but I've never been part of a maypole dance.

Tomorrow I am off to hospital.  It might be just for the day and I will be back in the evening, but I have been warned that it might be an over nighter, if so I wont be on here until later the following day.  Not looking forward to it.

It's so much different going cold into hospital for an op than being in hospital and they take you down from the ward.

Thanks Sally. I'm really nervous. It's stupid I know because I've been through a much bigger op before than I am having tomorrow.

Seems we get more nervous at times we think what we are going through shouldn't bother us to much.

Good luck Sandy. I hope it's all good news after this one.

Plenty more work still to be done. It's a question of priorities. I'm sure some of it will never get done because they add to the list faster than I do myself. I like structural stuff done and everything to be functional. My daughter thinks making things look pretty is more important so our priorities frequently clash. lol

County Council Elections here today. I'm still undecided where I'll put my cross. The whole lot of them are useless!

Sandy I hope all went well with the op and you are now resting. If they kept you in overnight then it means they could keep an eye on you and in that case I hope you are well enough to come home today! I love you

We've had some lovely rain overnight and the first in almost 2 months! Always smells so fresh after rain Smile

I've got a busy day ahead of me and am hoping to get everything done so that I can have some me time this afternoon.

It's the after rain part we have trouble with here Martha. It's very brief before the next lot. lol

Sunny and chilly this morning though. I've had my heating off for a few days but I've flicked it on for a while because the temp has slowly dropped to an unacceptable level in the house. I'm hoping it can go off for the summer soon but I may be dreaming.

Grocery shopping to do and then like you I'm hoping for some me time. After the chaos last weekend and mum's 90th coming up next weekend I'm keeping my fingers crossed this one is going to be quiet and I can be lazy.

They did keep me in over night because once again my blood pressure dropped dramatically.  The funny thing is that it doesn't drop immediately.  I always feel fine for hours after but then, bam, it suddenly drops with no warning.  Very strange.

Anyway, it's now just gone midday and I have just got home.  Aimee picked me up and we stopped on the way home for Kentucky Chicken.  I'm going to have a quick look around the board and then after I have finished eating I'm going to have a quck kip as I didn't get a lot last night.

Pleased to hear you're back home and all went well Sandy Smile. I have the same issue with blood pressure after an op and they can never point out what causes it.

Just gone 6 am here so having my first cuppa coffee and browsing a few boards.

Hi everyone.

So glad your operation went well, Sandy.
Scary about the blood pressure going low.
Glad you are home and doing well.

I remember once when I had to take my husband to
the emergency room his blood pressure was going so low
that they had to give him a more powerful medicine
than the veins in the arms could take.
They had to put the IV in his neck. In his jugular vein.
They said the medicine was so strong it would blow out the
smaller veins.
Then they said I could stay in the room while they did it
if I wanted.
No thanks. I waited outside until they were done.

Now I've gone and spoiled my own appetite for my morning yogurt
with my talk of blown out veins. :0)
Was 75F and sunny yesterday.
Supposed to be more sunny sky today.
I have to do some grocery shopping and may go to a movie
with one of my granddaughters later.

I also might stop and pick up some bedding plants.

Hope everyone has a great rest of your day!

I can only imagine how scary that must have been for you Kerri.  They had to go through an artery of mine on Thursday and It bloody hurts like billio.  They did warn me before they did it though.  The actual Doctor had to come to my bed to do it.  As she was doing that there was a nurse on the other side trying to get blood out of me, which was quite funny, because she simply couldn't get it in the tube yet the blood was pouring out and into the bed and on to me at the same time.

But ignoring the yucky bits there was good news and there was bad.

The bad news is I have another stent back in for a few months as the kidney, although not as enlarged as it was, is still enlarged.

The good news is they found the lesion I had had gone completely and no sign of any more.  Plus, he found absolutely no sign of the bowel leaking through to the bladder now.  How good is that.

I have to now go back to see the bowel consultant on Monday to see what he has to say.  That might mean another cat scan.  But I think now, all things are looking good.

Once I got home yesterday I simply kept falling asleep on and off for the rest of the day and evening.  But that would be because I didn't get any sleep the night before my op and I certainly didn't get any sleep on the over night stay.

Feeling good today and the pain when peeing has now stopped.

It's going to be a nice soak in the bath for me in a short while and then to catch up on all the boards.
