Scientists say that a star goes super nova in our galaxy roughly every 26 years. They can see how many have gone super nova by the remnants left. They have counted the past super novas and have found there have been approximately 250 in the life of our galaxy. 26 years x 250 = 6,500 years - This is the approximate age of the Earth as written in the Bible.

May

  by: Rose Terry Cooke (1827-1892)

There's a bluebird sits on the apple-tree bough,
Singing merrily and gay.
Come, little blossoms, the Spring's here now,
And the sun shines warm all day.

Fast asleep in the leaves and grass,
Don't you hear the quick rain?
And the winds that whisper as they pass,
"The dear Spring's here again."

Push your soft leaves out of the ground
Open your mist-blue eyes,
Hear the brook with its singing sound,
Look at the sunny skies.

All the drifts of the winter snow
Were frightened and fled away.
They left their place for the grass to grow,
And the merry moths to play.

Red buds shine on the maple-tree,
The trailing May-blooms fair
Under their green leaves peep at me,
For the Spring has kissed them there.

Come, little blossoms, you sleep too long!
Purple and white and blue,
Open your buds to hear my song,
The honey-bee waits for you.

Happy Mothers Day to all the mums and grandmothers celebrating it this Sunday Smile

I'm having a quiet one as we all have the flu in various stages so we will have a get together when we're all well again.

I am going to spoil myself today with a face mask and a nice Epsom salt foot soak! I was also given a present from this family I always help, so will open that later.

Our nice weather is coming to a stop later today according to the forecast so I am going to make sure I've got everything charged etc so I can just relax.

I hope you got your vaccum Kerri. I also hope you all enjoyed your Mothers Day.

I actually got off my behind today and went to church for the first time in 50 odd years. Full post about it in my Journal.

For the rest of the day I've done a bit of reading, a bit of tele and a bit of computer.

Thanks Kerri. We had a great time and mum really enjoyed herself which is what it was all about. I hope you get the present you wanted. I'd much rather have that than a designer purse too. We must both be very practical. lol

Lunch with mum and sis later but before that I need to kick myself out of weekend mode and get some cleaning done up here. Perhaps I better shower and get dressed to start with. lol

I'm going to do some washing, change and wash my bedding, and pack a couple of boxes. Other than that I have no plans.

Sarah and Jess came back from Venice in the early hours and Jess has now gone off to have her nails done. Sarah, Martyn and Aimee are just about to leave out for the day. No idea where. Which is why I am taking the opportunity to grab the washing machine.

Grabbed some quiet time too I hope.

The weather is awful here. Strong winds and heavy rain. I've been good and done some cleaning downstairs this morning. I'm going to visit my brother this afternoon but other than that I have no plans.

Good morning and it's getting nippy that early in the day lol. We've had some rain but not too bad really. More expected over the weekend though.

Managed to do some washing yesterday and then sat down with a coffee and woke up hours later .. sigh. I know my body must be needing it but this is getting beyond a joke. Mind you in saying this I still do not feel 100%.

No idea what I'm doing today as I just don't feel like planning anything.

Sounds like you need some more recovery time. Doing nothing much is just what's needed sometimes. Lately I keep nodding off over the keyboard. I've never been one for daytime naps so I think it must be an age thing. lol I don't have the excuse of recovering from a bug.

I'm doing some laundry and the cat needs combing but after that I have no idea. I should start on a long list of chores but I'm getting very good at ignoring anything not essential.

I think the age thing is because as we get older we don't sleep for as many hours during the night, and therefore by the time the afternoon comes sleep catches up with us.

Went to the cinema this evening and watched the most boring film of my life.  2 plus hours of my life wasted.  Oh well, over and done with now.

Expensive these days. Disappointing when the film turns out to be rubbish.

I've done the bins, some ironing, the dishes and changed the bedding. Washing machine is just spinning and I'm debating whether to hang the bedding out. Sunny at the moment but some dark clouds around I don't trust. Decisions, decisions. A few other chores to do and I need to get mum's shopping list off her for tomorrow. After that I plan on a lazy afternoon.

Wow, it actually looks like it's going to be a nice day out there.

I've just got up and sitting here having my first cuppa of the day.  I want to pack a couple more boxes today.  Packing like this is helping me get all my junk sorted too.  Since I have been here I've just shoved things into every little nook and cranny and my room has been like a student pad.  Totally disorganised.

Morning from a still dark Perth Smile

I've slept a lot more in the last 3 days and do feel so much better for it!
We're having a wet and cool weekend here so I'm going to continue resting/sleeping and doing bugger all lol.
My gardens are screaming at me to get sorted and I must get into those next week as it looks like a little jungle out there.

Sandy I think it's great that you can pack a few boxes and sort out your things.

Wendy it is very expensive here too and I prefer to just wait till the dvd comes out if a movie interests me. Or I wait for it to come in Netlfix.

I don't have Netflix either so I just wait for the DVD and tell my daughter she needs to see that one. lol Then borrow it off her.

A little at a time is the best way to pack when you have that choice. You always find stuff you can get rid of too even when you've supposedly got rid of it all not long before. It will be fun finding new homes for everything once you get into your new place. Hopefully you'll never need to move again so you can get it just how you want it.

Lovely sunshine for the first few hours this morning but cloud's rolled in now and showers are forecast. I'm not doing anything interesting. I might have a browse online for a few bits and bobs for my trip but I won't be spending much since I'm broke.

Hahaha, nice one Wendy regarding how you get to view the DVD free, rofl.  I can't afford Netflix and Sky so I choose sky.  I love Sky for the boxsets.

Martha and I spent hours yacking a few days ago and a lot of that was working out good ways for me to get extra storage space cheap and it not take up loads of room.  We came up with some great ideas which I am going to put into practice.   Martha also suprised me with an early housewarming gift.

What I am finding frustrating is waiting for a date.  Until I get that it's hard to set things in motion so that it's not all left until the last minute.

I like surprising you Sandy Smile and it was fun talking about and figuring out how you can best use the space you will have available in your new home.

I've been in my unit 2 and a half years roughly and I find that I am minimizing certain spots now and de-clutter areas as I go.

I'm debating on letting go of Netflix after winter as I only seem to use it in the colder months. Mind you in saying that they just announced a lot of "new" shows on there ... sigh. Not pushing myself here so time will tell lol.

PostSubject: Re: It's May Folks   21/05/17, 08:57 am

I'm in a quandry at the moment too Martha.

I always have Sky as you know.  Well, we aren't allowed to put dishes on the side of the building, although they do turn a blind eye if one is on the back of the building or on the top floor because the dishes don't look too bad there.  But I am going to be at the front and ground floor.

That means that if I get Sky to put a dish up for me, it's has to go in a place that doesn't affect the person above me view.  Meaning they shouldn't be able to see it when they look out of their window.

Whey I had sky around the back and on the top floor, the sky chap came and put the dish up.  I went to stay with Sarah for a couple of days a few days later and when I came back, the office had sent their chap to take my dish down and join my Sky to another dish that someone else had up.  Meaning that two of us were then sharing the same dish.  Thereby cutting down on one dish stuck to the building.

Now the office never mentioned this to me at all.  It just happened.  They never told me they were going to do that and they never told me they had done it after it was done.  They didn't mention I had broken the rules and I didn't say anything about them removing the dish I had paid for.

But I don't know how I am going to work it this time around so that I can have Sky.  I can't ask the office where I can have the dish because they would have to say I can't have one (it's the rules), but I don't know where I can put it to have it there discretely without them having to say anything once it's up.

I want to take a trip to the flats over the next couple of days and see if anyone else has a dish on the front of the building that Sky could attach my leads to instead of putting up my own dish.  But I can't ask Sky to attach mine to someone else's without permission as that would be against their rules and I can't ask the office for them to send their chap to attach mine to someone else's as we are not allowed to have Sky.  Can you follow me?

So yesterday I was searching the web to see if I could find another alternative to Sky.  There are alternatives but none of those alternatives supply 2 of my most used channels.

What is so bloody anoying is that next year Sky are bringing out a drive that plugs into the back of the TV which can totally do away with dishes.

That's quite a dilemma. If you can find somewhere discreet to put it they might turn a blind eye until next year when you can replace it with a drive. Ground floor and front is going to make that difficult though. If there is one already on the front of the building tapping into that would be your best bet. Not sure how you do that without permission though.

Lovely of Martha to send you a surprise gift after all those names you call her. Wink

Hi Everyone.

Sandy,
It is so disappointing when you pay for a ticket
at the movie theater and the movie is bad.
Which movie did you see?
Nice that you can take your time packing and sorting
through things.

Martha,
Is a unit like an apartment or townhome?
We've been in our apartment for many years now.
We are downsizing too.
Unfortunately for me, my husband is the pack rat.
I am a thrower and tend to want to get rid of things
we rarely use.

Wendy,
Sending you hopes for some sunshine today.

On Friday I took my granddaughters to a city fair
after work.
They had wrist bands you could buy so they could ride on the attractions
for an unlimited number of times.
(Instead of purchasing the tickets for each ride.)
They went on the various rides for 4 hours.
I certainly got my money's worth.
When we were through, they did not even seem tired.
I was pretty tired.
And they did all the riding. How does that work? :0)
I did the laundry yesterday and other cleaning.

I'm currently reading a book about
some gentlemen who went down the Nile
from its source.
I'm hoping for some time to sit
on the patio and read more of the story.

Hope everyone has a great rest of your day!

Hi Kerri I am not sure what you would call it where I live in so I guess a semi-detached bungalow is probably the closest I can think of.

Hahahaha Man that Sandy can talk Laughing been on Skype with my lovely friend for a while again LOL.

When have I ever called the cowbag names?

Martha and I sorted out a temporary way to get around not having Sky for a year or so until they sort out being able to have it without a dish and me be able to get all my favorite channels.  Although having a dish isn't completely out yet.  That might still be able to happen.  I'm not totally giving up on that yet.

@Kerri It was The Lost City of Z -  I bet I never forget that film though, lol.  It was so very bad.

That's the best way to pay for rides.  It makes the visit so much cheaper in the long run.

I suppose cowbag makes a change from marebag. :D

That's definitely the best way to do the rides as long as you intend staying for a few hours to make the most of the bands. I think it's getting them to each ride and the stress of keeping an eye on them Kerri. Far more tiring than just sitting on the rides. lol Maybe you should buy a band for yourself next time. Enjoy your book.

I'm taking a quick break from cleaning upstairs. Then having lunch with a friend, mum, sis, my niece and my sister-in-law who is having her hair trimmed. I'm having a cut and colour and the two old dears will be having a set so my sister is going to be busy after we've eaten.
