Shakespeare made up the name “Jessica” for his play Merchant of Venice.
Shakespeare probably based it on the biblical name ISCAH, which would have been spelled Jescha in his time.

Only because you got a reminder. lol

A sunny morning so far. Meant to cloud over but stay mostly dry. Got bedding in the machine and I think I may risk hanging it outdoors.

Good news is they're going to repair my car. I only found out because I got fed up of waiting for an update and rang them. Spent 45 minutes on hold which didn't improve my mood and eventually found out the repairs had been approved by an automatic system. Neither the insurers nor the garage bothered telling me. Grrrr! Parts have been ordered but it looks like it will be the end of next week before I get it back. I might have got used to this new one by then and not be keen to give it back. lol

Mine is still waiting for me to get a cv joint replaced Martha. It's been an advisory on the MOT for two years but not bad enough to fail so I keep putting it off. My daughter's partner is going to do it while I'm away. He can take the car down to their place then because I won't need it and he has the facilities there for the job. Beats paying through the nose for labour.

I am now car less , gave it to my son , he will paint the back bumper , and try to replace the old sports stripe with fancy new ones, then sell the car on line .     Time I stopped driving , getting to scary around here , traffic getting worse all the time .
So I am off doing my walk to the village ... giddy up .... lol

Happy June, Everyone!

Good news about your car being repaired, Wendy!
Labor is the very expensive part of getting a car fixed.

Hi Geru.
If you have everything you need close by
you may not miss driving.

It is 80F and sunny today.
Worked a long day but the sun and sky
were so beautiful as I drove home.

Hope everyone has a good rest of your day!

Good morning from a nippy cold Perth Smile It's slowly warming up though and the clear blue sky promises a nice day!

I've been chatting to Sandy for 2 hrs already hahahaha so really need to get ready for my usual busy Friday morning routine.

My car did not need the cv joints replaced ... yippeee ... a huge relief Smile
One of the front shock breakers had some trouble which they fixed and because I didn't need cv joints replaced I had them fix my windscreen wiper arm instead. It was still working but the interval was not, so that's all fixed up now.
Then a wheel alignment was done after the shockers came out so now my car is driving smoothly again.
Total cost came to $400 aus!

Ok  I better get of this computer now ... see you all later Smile

Good evening.
The weather in Vancouver has been perfect with some Spring showers, cooler temps and a bit of sunshine.
Last night I made some dinner rolls to go with the perfectly delicious creamy mushroom soup I'd made.
The first batch were Butter Flake Rolls and were supposed to look like this ;

but I ended up with this mess  which I threw out immediately. They didn't rise but I thought I'd see what happens if you bake bread that didn't rise, tongue   & now I know  Laughing
So since I didn't have time to do that same fancy recipe again, I decided to make up a quick batch of easy rolls. HAHAHA I should have known it wasn't a good day for me to bake AT ALL affraid ! The end result was tasty, even though they look funny and I burnt the bottoms  Rolling Eyes

So today I 'm pretty much staying out of the kitchen LOL

I pretty much stay out of the kitchen permanently so I'm not saying a word. lol

Good news about the cv joints Martha.

Geru I'd consider giving up driving if I didn't use the car to take mum to all her appointments and do other errands. I don't mind driving but it's not something I do for pleasure. It's more the expense that I'd find hard to justify just for myself though. I'd just shop online and get the occasional taxi probably.

Our brief spell of sunny days disappeared Kerri. Rain again today.

The only thing left of Yuku when it's all changed over @zucker7not will be the Yuku url.

Did we really chat for a whole 2 hours again Martha. That time flew by.

Awww, Elaine I feel for you. That's happened so many times in the kichen to me. Usually with cakes. I used to make fantastic pastry but my cakes, although used to taste lovely, they never actually looked as they should have done.

I haven't really played in a kitchen for many years since living on my own, but I do intend to do so more when I move. I'm intend to make cooking/baking part of the new me and my new life. Basically for years now I haven't even owned a cooker and have simply used a microwave. I've been that bad.

That's what I do Wendy. Big shop on line and get the odd taxi if I need to. And of course I have my trike to take me further away from home than I can do walking. Being without a car is sometimes a real pain in the arse, but I could count on one hand how many times a year I desperately would need a car that wouldn't simply be laziness on my part to either get a taxi or catch a bus.

I hate waiting for and catching buses but I do not mind one bit train travel. Except the cost of it. But the cost of public transport and taxis when needed work out a minisule amount a year compared to running a car. I think though that having a car or not having a car of course depends totally on ones life style.

flower
just dropping in again , so I will get used to it...Yuku still standing as is so far , but not much longer now .
Being without my car is something I need to get used to, as long as I get my life changed around , and stop sitting here and playing .... Embarassed and get a move on .   It does save me money and less worries , my car was kept up to par pretty well , spent lots and lots of money on it , it was a 93 Toyota Tercel , they don't even make that model any more  but can still get parts  ,it  had been a good car indeed . Sad

Hiya Geru Smile lovely to see you posting here.

I really need a car here. Not perhaps for local things but certainly for everything else as the distances are too big and our public transport, although greatly improved, is still not what it should be.

Elaine I love cooking and baking but pastry is one thing I manage to stuff up too so I just don't bother much with it these days.
Mind you in saying that, I must make another batch of home made sausage rolls as they are just the best! I think I have all the ingredients for that too.

I'm up early again so will need a snooze later as I have that concert to go to tonight.

Going for a quick hair trim at 11am Smile

I can imagine a car is pretty much an essential there Martha.

At least your car is staying in the family Geru. You'll be able to keep an eye on it and make sure your son looks after it.

A beautiful sunny day here so far. Time I got up and made the most of it. I certainly won't be in the kitchen baking. lol

Fairly nice day here, bit overcast , mild 17c
Nothing much new  here, just everyday housework  , but certainly no baking , as baking powder is super duper high in potassium , and I got to watch that . But anyways .... to much mess just for me .... lol .

I live in a very handy place , everything is here within short walking district  , so as long as my feet hold out , i will be ok .
No, my son won't keep the car, he does not need it .... lol , he will sell it for me .

Hello to everyone .

It was a very nice day here in Vancouver. Good weather, Not too hot Smile We did some shopping and fixing stuff in the house. I made myself a vegetarian meal tonight since Roomie decided to order pizza & watch the hockey game out on the deck. I can't believe how filling a bunch of veggies can be!
Did anyone else watch the Michael Jackson movie that was on tonight? It was very kind and respectful, and pretty sad. The guy that played Michael really looks like him!
I'm heading to bed early tonight so I can get up at dawn for a photo shoot at the river. I'm hoping to see some ducklings or goslings. I think my timing is right., but I guess I'll find out. Good night♥

It wasn't on our TV Elaine.

I was up all night watching the news and following the hashtag londonbridge on Twitter. I linked up with some lovely Ahmadi Muslims via the tweeting. They are a totally different breed of Muslims and have my respect.

I think now maybe we will start getting tough. Finally the government might realise that new arrest laws are needed to be able to maybe round up the 3500 Muslims that MI5 are watching. At the moment their hands are tied because they can't arrest anyone until they actually commit a crime.

We also need laws to close down the Mosques that are teaching and recruiting our home grown little buggers. I also don't think Muslim only schools should be allowed anymore as we have no idea what they are teaching in them.

I'm still waiting to get a definite moving date. I have to ring up on Tuesday as the chap in charge of all the work is on holiday this week so the office doesn't know when it will be finished.

Ran errands this morning, did some laundry
then spent some time at the swimming pool
as it is 88F and very sunny.

It is quiet now
except for the hum of the air conditioner.

Hope everyone has a great rest of your day!

What a horrendous situation there in London! It was all over the news here with extended broadcasts.

I know a few lovely Muslim people here Sandy and they are as appalled with it all as we are!

I agree with you on everything you've said and it still angers me that the governments even allowed for Muslim only schools and all those Mosques in the first place.

I've had a lovely Saturday night at the concert and laughed, danced and sang my heart out! Yesterday I just was lazy and stayed in my pj's and read and snoozed and had a computer free day lol.

Today is a public holiday here (WA Day) so another lazy day I think. Still debating if I want to do some gardening but too early to make my mind up hahaha.

They allow other faith schools here Martha so it's a case of equal rights I assume. I too know several Muslims who are horrified at what's happened once again. One spent half the night bawling her eyes out. I'm always loathe to tar any group with the same brush.

Glad you enjoyed the concert. I bet you needed Sunday to recover.

I'm trying to work up the enthusiasm to do some housework but following the news and looking out of the window has me feeling too depressed to care. It's pouring with rain and there's a strong wind.

Yup, they use our laws against us to get away with murder Wendy. Faith schools, Family Courts and so on.

It's not the terror attacks that scare me because we will eventually put a stop to that. What terrifies me and a vast amount of Muslims that have intergrated and love and consider themselves British, is that eventually there will be more of them than us because of them breeding faster than us. When that happens there will be more Sunni voted into power and into parliment and over the years Britiain will become another Saudi Arabia and our great Grandchildren will be living under sharia law. The Mayor of London is already getting away with making major changes using his Muslim values.

I think that the first thing we will do, right now, is bring in a law that some suggested a while ago and was voted down, of being able to hold people under the terrorism law for 3 months rather than the 2 weeks we can at the moment. Although I think that would only work if they were de-programmed at the same time as being interrogated.

A bit dull here today but at least it's not cold. Sarah and Martyn are off to Tenerife for a week about midday. Jess is never here nowadays so it will just be Aimee and me for that time.

I need to get some more packing tape, as I have run out, before I can pack the last boxes that I want to pack. I will just then have a last few things to pack the day before I move that I will need to use right up until the last minute.

And that is where the fine lines are really Wendy. In one breath we don't want to give up our so called Christian values in schools; yet at the same time we don't want other religious groups build their own schools! Perhaps the answer is simply to stop all religious teachings/adherence's in all schools.

Wow you are hooting along with the packing and sorting Sandy!

Geru I honestly think that we can discuss that here as long as we adhere to it being done respectfully. Go check out this >>> http://www.zandranna.com/f17-spirituality-faith-religion

I look at it differently.  We are a Christian country.  Our values and laws were built on Christianity.  Now whilst I agree to allowing all religions to practice and for each of us to have respect for other religions,  I do not believe our way of life should be changed because of other religions.

We never changed our way of life for the Jews, the Hindis, the Sikhs, Spiritualists or any other belief or religion.  So why the bloody hell are we changing our way of life for Islam all of a sudden.  A belief system that is totally opposite to Christian beliefs, our laws and our values.

If western governments aren't careful there will soon be full blown riots in the streets.  People will only put up with it for so long.  America are bloody lucky to have someone like Trump fighting for America and the American people.  We in Britain have the worst of the worst in our politicians.  Not one of them have any guts.  They just make policies to gain votes.

Yup.  Packing like this I am hardly noticing it.  I should be so well organised by the time moving day comes around.

It's cold, very wet and very windy here. Meant to be that way for a few days. Miserable weather. I'm waiting for a break in the rain to walk to the Post Office but I might just have to bite the bullet and get soggy.

Not doing much else apart from housework.

My daughter and her partner are off to Portugal on Friday. Very tempting to join them.

I'm so sorry to hear about the attacks on London. I've stopped watching the news because it is too depressing.
Other forums I used to participate in are becoming more and more hateful/racist.
Has anyone noticed that there are more deaths caused by texting while driving than there have been deaths by terrorist attacks, 9-11 included?

I think a lot of the time what people say is taken as hateful and racist when in actual fact it really isn't.  It's simply people not agreeing with this far left libralism.

I've listened to people getting angry and abusive in talk shows because others were disagreeing with them that we (the whole of society) should be forced to call people Ze and other neutral gender terms.  They rant on about everyone being against the LGBT people.  No one on the panel was against gays or transvestites.

Others are accused of hate speech when they are simply saying that only about 10% of the children in their child's school has English as their first language and they think it's wrong.

You are tarred with being racist against blacks if you say that the organisation "Black lives matter" are burning their own towns down and want black and white segregation again.  You are sexist if you say that these 3rd wave feminists are violent and their real aim is to abuse and put down men instead of wanting equality.

You are racist if you want to close your borders to a violent and agressive culture landing on your shores by the thousands.  Baring in mind that none of these migrants have been properly vetted simply because they come from countries that are at war.

One has to read what people say, and think, is this really hate speech or is it really just free speech.  Hate speech is purely when you are trying to cause others to do agressive and violent acts towards other people or other groups.  Free speech is when you are voicing your genuine concerns for your own safety and the safety of your country that might unfortunately offend some people.

Hate speech is when some Muslims are holding up placards saying all infidels should die - Free speech is when you say that they should all be rounded up and charged with hate speech instead of the police protecting them.  Yet it is those that are accused of hate when they just want to see justice.

It really has got silly now and the western world is just topsy turvey.  Now the majority of people have had their rights taken away for fear of offending the odd minority person.  Offending someone has become a crime.  But I do think that this is the year it will all be turned around and this nonsense will be put a stop to.
