Scientists say that a star goes super nova in our galaxy roughly every 26 years. They can see how many have gone super nova by the remnants left. They have counted the past super novas and have found there have been approximately 250 in the life of our galaxy. 26 years x 250 = 6,500 years - This is the approximate age of the Earth as written in the Bible.

Good morning all. The sun is shining and I've hung washing outdoors because it's finally supposed to be a warm day. Might reach the 70s. Yay! Had a good time at my brother's yesterday. Another brother showed up and then my niece arrived with her 4 year old son so it was nice to catch up.

Not sure what I'm doing today yet but I should definitely get off this plastic brain and make the most of the rare sunshine.

Nothing is ever off topic in here @Beckea.  We jump from pillar to post.

I remember when I used the bus with my free bus pass for the first time.  I hadn't been on a bus for donkey's years and I had no idea of how to use the new (to me) automated system of running the pass across the machine rather than giving it to the driver.  I felt a right twit.  My Louie loves bus travel, because everyone makes such a fuss of him.  I finds it so exciting being in a (car) with so many other people.  As far as he is concerned, everyone travelling with us must be a friend.

Do you know Geru, I had no idea until fairly recently that we have nothing in this country to protect our free speech.  Unless there is something in another law that covers that also - and if there is I haven't found it.

My Sarah and Martyn got back in the early hours this morning from Tenerife.  I didn't hear them come in, but as I write this I see that his car is outside and Louie wasn't in my room when I woke up so he must have gone out to welcome them and then decided to sleep the rest of the night with Aimee, as I found him in her room when I went looking for him to take him down to the garden for his morning wee.

Hi Everyone.

Fascinating reading about the state of things across the pond. Smile
We have separation of church and state laws here.
They are pretty strict about them in the area I live in.
When I was a little girl, I remember learning the cursive letters
and the teacher was teaching us J.
When she was asking the class for words that begin with J
one girl said, "Jesus."
The teacher explained nicely that she wasn't allowed to write
that on the chalk board as she could get into trouble.
Anything to do with religion was only to be taught at home or church.

A tough day yesterday.
My husband has diabetes
and we recently discovered a black spot
the size of a small potato
on his heel.
Yesterday we arrived for tests at 7:15 AM
and were there until 3:00 PM.
They did an MRI, ultra sound and other tests.
Then we consulted with the surgeon.
The good news is, the dead tissue does
not go to the heel bone.
The not-so-good news is
he has to have surgery to get the rest of the dead/black
tissue cut out as it goes in a bit deep.
It has been hot and swampy here.
A few 90F days. 86F yesterday.
I'm going for a swim in the apartment pool
later this morning.
I will have the air conditioning on all day.

Hope everyone has a great rest of your day. Smile

Hello!
It's a cool day today in Vancouver, with light rain.
I've only got some light housework done and a meal made. Besides that, after a shower I'll do a load of laundry. I've had a fever for a couple of days, so it's best to rest Smile

Good to hear Sarah and Martin got back safe Sandy Smile

Always nice when you have a family catch up like that Wendy Smile and nice weather to.

Sorry to hear about your husbands problems Kerri. Hope they can get the surgery done soon and he heals fully.

Elaine hope you continue to feel better and yes rest is best and lots of fluids as well.

Morning all. Catching up with all the post as I haven't been on the boards for a few days.
Had another death in the family and seeing as this one is across the country, we needed to sort out who is going to represent us here from the West Coast.

Hi Everyone,
@Spherical sorry for your loss.

I am doing a "test" of the new Yuku - hmmm mmm - I don't know.
I tried getting one here but it keeps spitting out an error message. So I don't know. Not sure how I feel about the new platform.

@Kerri We have separation of state and church in as much as the church don't have anything to do with making laws, but The Queen is the head of the Church of England and Defender of the Faith so there isn't really a true separation.

In our schools rather than ban the teaching of religion we teach all religions.  I prefer it this way because at least then the children are getting some knowledge of Christianity and faith even if it is mixed in with some of this new age crap that seems to be on the rise again.  The idea of us teaching all religions is to breed tolerance to other ways of life and putting the stress on multiculturism.

My objection isn't the teaching of all religions but I object to multiculturism being forced upon us.  The British didn't ask for this and it's this that is stopping immigrants from intergrating into society as British.  There is a difference between culture and religion.  Unfortunately with Islam, their religion is their culture and now we have a cross over in this country of the two.

What a bugger about your hubby.  That sodding diabetes is evil.

@Elaine Sorry to hear you haven't been too well girl.  Don't work too hard.

@Spherical I saw on Facebook about your loss matie.  So sorry.

Yup, Sarah and Martyn got home safe and brought a bloody spider home with them mixed in with their lugage.  Not knowing what kind of spiders they have over there, I killed it dead as fast as we saw it.

@Beckea I also have a copy of my Yuku board to test, although I have been in the innards of a board that Tapatalk believes is fine before.  Their boards are absolute rubbish, and the new platform is the same.  The poor buggers that think they are going to be able to design their boards to be as pretty as their Yuku boards are in for a big shock.  Nor are there going to be any of the features that Yuku has.

It looks like it's going to be a nice day here again.  I'm itching to make a start on organising things for the flat, but can't do much until I can borrow the key, which I can't do until the workman hands it in.

Sunny spells and breezy here so I've hung bedding outdoors but it's nothing like as warm as we were promised.

I hope all goes well with your husband Kerri. Diabetics do have to watch their feet like hawks.

Hope you feel better Elaine.

Sorry to hear you've had another loss Martha. It's been a bad year for your family.

My daughter is back from Portugal and is coming up at the wekend for an overnight stay so we should get that shopping trip done. Not that I want to go shopping but I do need a few bits for my trip and I'll be happy to get it over and done with. My daughter is the opposite and would shop all day every day if she could.

Oh good to hear your daughter is back safe and sound too Wendy Smile I'm with you and not into all that shopping either.

Thanks everyone!

I need to go to bed as I have a busy Friday ahead of me .... laters ...

Thanks for the kind words and
thoughts re my husband, Everyone.

Wonderful that you will be able to spend time with your
daughter, Wendy.

Thanks for the kind words, Becky. :0)

Hope you are feeling better, Elaine.
A fever is no fun.

So sorry for the loss of your loved one, Martha.

Sandy,
I hope you get that key soon
so you can get in there and begin organizing.

84F and sunny and a lot less humid today.
I worked a long day, but it is a lovely evening.
I might sit on the patio for a bit and snack
on some fresh fruit.

Hope everyone has a great rest of your day!

Thank you all so much for your well wishes and positive thoughts♥️
It's amazing how much a person can sleep when being attacked by a common bug!
Today I got some dishes washed laundry done and that's it. It's just about time to go back to bed. The fever is gone though!
Martha I hope you are remembering to take care of yourself through all the stress you must be under Candle hug Candle

Good to hear you're feeling better Elaine. Don't overdo it and make that fever come back.

It's very dull and breezy this morning. I'm still waiting for that heatwave they promised us.

Nothing interesting happening. I'm doing mine and mum's grocery shopping this morning and then just catching up on a few chores because I know I won't get much done over the weekend with visitors here.

Hahaha,  At a quick glance I first read this as "I might sit on the piano for a bit of a snack", lol.

Perhaps I should wait until I've had my first cuppa of the morning before reading this thread.

Good to hear you are feeling a bit better Elaine.

My Jess loves shopping too.  Not so much Sarah and Aimee though.

I had a rare good night last night.  Slept right through without getting up to pee once.  That doesn't happen often.

Nothing on the cards for me today.  Might catch up on the 6 episodes of Supernatural I have saved.

Thanks Kerri Smile

Elaine I am taking it easy and just let it all flow; thanks so much for the hug (hug)xx

Sandy I think that is the show that Jeremy gave me and I still have not even started watching it! I might make that my winter show lol.

I'm supposed to go to a birthday lunch but I'm giving it a miss as I have to drive into the city for that one and on weekends it's near impossible to get parking. If my niece had chosen a better venue it would have been ok but oh well.

Hi Everyone.

We had our granddaughters over last night
and spent time at the apartment pool for about two hours.
Those girls would live at the pool if they could!

Their mother/my daughter is picking them up around
11 AM for Girl Scout activities and gymnastics.
Then I have to get some work done around here.

Making them some pancakes for breakfast.
I probably won't even eat one as I don't care for sweet foods.
I have a terrible weakness for salty/savory things.

Hope everyone has a great rest of your day!

I think it's such a great way of watching shows Martha.  You are so lucky to have them recorded for you in a bunch like that.  I can see why you save them for the winter.

Hope you enjoyed your visitors Wendy.

Make the most of the Grandkids while they are young Kerri.  They grow so quickly and then you start seeing less and less of them as their lifes changes.

Hiya Elaine.

Boiling hot here today.  2nd day in a row.  Seems we might just be getting a summer this year.  No plans for me today.  I will be playing it by ear as I have been doing for all these months until I move and get stuck into my new life.

Those granddaughters are certainly active Kerri. Makes a change from hearing about the ones stuck in front of a screen all day. I'm like you. I don't like sweet things at all but salt is my downfall.

Got most of the shopping I wanted on Saturday and have just been locally for the last few bits so I'm done thankfully. I was supposed to be doing some cleaning but decided to ignore it since it's way too hot. Thought shopping would at least be doing something useful rather than just being lazy. Next on the shopping list is my GD's 21st birthday present for a few weeks time. I also need to get my grandson's 18th prezzie before I go away because his birthday is as soon as I get back.

It's 79F here now and the thermometer is still rising. Third day of hot sunshine. Yay!

Hello All,

I was supposed to start classes for the summer quarter but that is not going to be until tomorrow. So here I am on the boards. Checking things out.

I tried to quit smoking cigarettes this weekend but it didn't work. Although I've cut back a lot it is still expensive for me, so I've decided to still keep trying to quit, cutting back more and more. I like to have a smoke now and then so i hope that is what it will come down to instead of 5-10 a day

@Elaine, ever thought of using gum in replacement of cigarettes. A friend did that anytime she had the craving she would just grab her package of gum and get one out and chew. It worked.

I think replacing it with something healthy. Maybe that would help you. I don't know. There are so many resources out there that may help, check it out by researching.

Hello, Everyone!
I opened up a Forumotion, I must have opened up more because that is the only thing that was giving me fits because the email I never use it for anything but I must have.

Anyway, it is warm tonight. Not sure how I am going to sleep.
