Facts
Scientists say that a star goes super nova in our galaxy roughly every 26 years. They can see how many have gone super nova by the remnants left. They have counted the past super novas and have found there have been approximately 250 in the life of our galaxy. 26 years x 250 = 6,500 years - This is the approximate age of the Earth as written in the Bible.

Another hot day here. Sleeping is difficult. It's supposed to thunder tomorrow and then cool off. Despite usually complaining about our terrible weather I think this hot, muggy atmosphere would wear thin very quickly for me. I'm actually ready for some rain.

Visiting my brother later but otherwise not doing much. I'm postponing housework again. lol

We are supposed to have 2 more days of this heat my end of the country before it breaks.

I haven't had a real ciggie for over 4 years now.  I do however use an e-cigarette.  If someone wants to quit then I would say an e-ciggy is by far the best of all nicotine substitutes.  One is far less likely to go back to real ones.

I hope you enjoy setting your Forumotion up Becky.

I have absolutely nought to report today as I have done sod all except try to keep cool in this heat and  catch up on some of my recorded progs.

I've had the odd ciggie since I quit smoking. Not because I wanted to take it up again but to see how it tasted and ....yucky .... so glad I gave it up too Sandy and I like you I do like my vaping that I do now. No more stinky clothes, hair etc and no more dizzy spells either.

Elaine I have an Affiliate Button on my board with the link to where I get my vaping from and they are in the US. Maybe check it out and see how it translates for you currency wise.

Ok I need to try and get a few more hours sleep in before the sun comes up lol.

I bloody fell asleep at 7pm this evening and woke up just before midnight, so I can see myself being awake all night now.

But I have just discovered the box set "Blacklist" on my Sky so I've started watching that.

Sandy & Martha thanks ♥ I have an e-cigarette and a few flavours of glycerin. So you don't find that the vapor is hurting your lungs? I had a real problem that way. I would get such a sore throat!

Elaine it takes getting used to I know as I had the same problem when I first started. I found what I was doing was dragging way to hard on the e-cig to try and emulate the real smoking. Ones I adjusted to that I was fine.

Oh yayy Sandy Smile you are going to love The Blacklist! Happy watching.

I'm waiting on a call so I can race over to Natasja's house to open the door. We are helping her getting her house ready to be rented out and only have 2 weeks to do it all in.

I've just brought in washing I hung out last night and hung out some thick things like dressing gowns that I hope will dry before the weather breaks. So far, so good. Hazy cloud around but plenty of sunshine and a slight breeze.

I gave up smoking for a couple of years but then took it up again. I roll my own these days. I keep saying I'm going to try an e-cig but keep putting it off.

Not doing much today apart from laundry and grooming the cat. She's shedding like mad. The carpet in here looks white when it's actually green. That's what happens when I skive cleaning for once. lol

I'm quite enjoying it Martha.  I'm hoping to see them all before Sarah's Sky goes off at the end of this month.  It was a bugger that we didn't know that I would have to wait an extra month before moving or we could have had the Sky turned off a month later.  Sarah reckons she doesn't watch programmes that are specific to Sky any more so once I move out it would be a waste of money for her, especially as I will no longer be here to pay half towards it.

I rolled my own too Wendy.  Once I started that I found that I loathed tailor made ones.  I honestly don't know how people afford to smoke real fags anymore.  They are so bloody expensive because of the tax whopped on them.

With this e-ciggy I know I could give it up instantly if I wanted to, because I go the whole time in hospital without it and never even think about it.  Sometimes I don't even bother to pick up up when I get home until I have been home a couple of days.  Goes to show that even if you didn't want to use one permanantly how easy it is to use one of these to quit smoking all together.

We still have a summer day here today Wendy. You always get the rotten (or not so good) weather a day or so before we do.

I was up all night due to the falling asleep I mention above.  I did get suddenly tired at 7am so then fell asleep until 9am.  I did watch several episodes of the Blacklist through the night.

Today, if I can get off my arse, I am going to sort out the boxes under my bed, which I have been saying I am going to do for weeks now.

I sometimes go for the whole day without my vaping Sandy. Also i have now got e-juice with lower nicotine and will continue to lower it till I vape nicotine free. Most of the juices I have are so tasteful and it's enjoyable to vape Smile

I'm checking in now as we are on weather alert and it's raining so hard that I had to check my sky light to make sure it hadn't broken! Expecting thunderstorms in the early morning so might not be able to come online then.

Enjoy the sunshine ladies Smile

Hi♥
I guess I must be at a time in my life for making changes. I will try the e-cig again and will concentrate on not dragging so hard on it.
Last night I watched a video that has convinced me to go vegan. I've been on a paleo diet for a few years and it hasn't really done me any favours except that it taught me how to stop using sugars. This documentary about world health organizations' attempts to sabotage our health for the sake of profit is a huge eye-opener. Everyone needs to see this.

There are other methods of helping as well just do a Google Search or search - I found a lot of great websites that can help you stop smoking very helpful but not sure if it would help you!

Stop using sugar - that is what I need. I need to get rid of that craving -- the only thing that is difficult for me to lose the weight. What is the paleo diet?

My problem is I don't particularly want to give up Sandy and although vaping is an option I definitely wouldn't like flavoured ones. I tried a couple of my niece's and thought they were disgusting. Now if I could find one that tasted like my favourite tobacco I might give it a go. I gather they're not cheap though.

Amazingly the thunderstorms missed us here completely. This morningis cooler though with a light drizzle off and on. I think the heatwave is over.

I wouldn't put much faith in a Paleo diet. For a start there is no proof of exactly how cavemen used to live. They are now discovering that they ate far more meat than originally thought.

People forget that most scientific discoveries are not proven discoveries, they are only theories, then others jump on the band wagon and start talking as if it's a done and dusted as truth.

Not only that but even if cavemen did only live on seeds and fruit etc, their metabolism and such is totally different to ours. Copying the diet of someone living millions of years ago is simply not sensible, in fact it's downright dangerous. This is why these diets do not work.

To lose weight one simply needs to cut down on size portions, and to cut out or cut down on sugar, this include low fat foods as they contain a hell of a lot of hidden sugar, cut out sweets, cakes, bicuits (cookies) and crisps (chips). Doing that one loses weight at a proper speed and can only get down to a weight that is right for us.

If we are fat then we are eating too much generally and eating too much sugar. Size portions in the USA are the biggest problem. Americans eat far too much at each sitting.

If you want to lose weight then get yourselves a child's size plate and only eat from that, and cut out all the goodies. Leave the fad diets behind.

Cutting sugar out can be done gradually. It's hard to stop all at once. Think of losing weight as a long term project and a breaking of bad eating habits rather than dieting.

If you are using low fat milk, go back to full fat - Fat in natural foods do not make us fat, we need fat to be healthy.

If you use low fat butters or marg then go back to normal butter. Eat normal yogurts. Stop drinking low sugar soft drinks and drink normal ones. Just keep remembering, portion size and treats are what are fattening.

I would advise signing up to this site to help keep track of exactly what you are eating. It's fun and it really does help. https://www.myfitnesspal.com/

@Whisper - I'm the same as you Wendy.  I couldn't handle the vaping.  I actually use the very original thing on the market which are 10motives e-cigarettes.

You can buy the starter kit and the refills in most large Tescos.  Even some corner shops sell them.

https://www.tesco.com/groceries/product/search/default.aspx?searchBox=10+motives&newSort=true&search=Search

They look exactly like a fag and after 2 days of perseverance they taste barely any different to normal cigarettes.

I keep two batteries on the go. One that I am using and one plugged in charging.

It costs me just under £8 a week to smoke those.   I haven't had a real fag now for over 4 years, and I wouldn't want one.  But I do enjoy my e-ciggie.

Hello Everyone,
Watching my daughter play in our tent it is so sweet to hear her giggling. If you guys do not know all three of my children have Autism and two (my daughter and second son) have multiple diagnoses. Anyway, she loves to draw and she loves to play house with her dolls. She lines them up and she has her own language that she uses on her dolls (her kids).

Much cooler now, so thinking of going to get a glass of ice tea and read for a bit.

How is everyone's day?

Sandy I would have continues using those ones from 10motives but they stopped posting them to Australia. Not only that but the ones I did try didn't last long at all and I found the refills lasting short as well.

I do have a variety in my vaping juices and some are peach taste and others are more of a peppermint taste. I'm now trying out a banana/custard one and it's very nice Smile

Totally agree with you Sandy on the diet stuff you wrote!
So many people that still use/eat/drink the low fat stuff and that is the worst one can consume.
It is indeed filled with extra sugar to try and make it taste good.

I've always said "eat everything but eat in moderation" and that, till this day is still the best.
Even eating meat ... it's not the eating of it itself but how one prepares and cooks the meat.
Another one is all the processed meats one consumes. Take a good look at those and read or find out all the ingredients used to process that salami or ham etc.
The added conservatives can cause more problems then the actual meat itself. If in doubt go to a butcher and get it fresh.

Wendy we had heavy rain and storms last night and it went all around me too.

Yuk Martha. lol Those sound awful to me. Thanks for the link Sandy. I do still have the original Nicorette inhalator with cartridges, Not very realistic looking but works well enough. I'm going to need that and some gum for my flights. I'd be fine if it was just the length of the flight but it's all the time getting to the airports and security queues etc. that make it way too long to go without.

I have three boys living next door to me and two out of three are autistic. Hard work for mum and dad but I sometimes think it must be tough on the middle lad who isn't on the spectrum at all.

It's a 'perfect' summer day here today. 21 C and a slight breeze.
The whole reason I was trying the paleo diet (lots of meat and natural fats) was to eradicate the horrible reaction I was having to any and all sugars, and still be healthy. The diet certainly helped with the allergy problems but  I didn't feel any healthier other than that. I was never before much of a carnivore and had been vegan years prior to trying the paleo way..
The What The Health film disgusted me about the practices of the meat farms and the world health organizations all being in cahoots to keep people sick was the thing that convinced me to take my health into my own hands.
Anyway, I'm hoping that veganism will turn some things around for me. I live with a lot of pain every day of my life and so will try just about anything in my search for ways to alleviate the owies. I mostly eat to reduce inflammation....ginger, turmeric, broccoli, spinach, garlic, etc

Whisper, the last few times I've flown there were "E-cigarettes are prohibited" type of signs everywhere at the airport.

Some days are good and others bad. But the good days i cherish them the most. That day was a good day.

It is hard but at times I enjoy it. I don't have the issues like most parents who have typical kids.

It is very tough for the siblings that are typical - they at times are overlooked because of the care and need for the other. My kids are lucky in that they don't have a sibling that is typical so they get the attention.

I feel for families that are structured like that. It is hard.
