Facts

Shakespeare made up the name “Jessica” for his play Merchant of Venice.
Shakespeare probably based it on the biblical name ISCAH, which would have been spelled Jescha in his time.

PostSubject: I've Just Bought a Hair Piece   01/06/17, 08:24 pm

Up until about last August I had been growing my hair, or you could say, I had been ignoring my hair, for at least the previous 3 years.

The reasoning behind this was that as I got older and went grey, although I would prefer to go pure white and not a murky grey, I rather fancied having a long single white plait flowing down my back.

However at that point in my life and with all my health problems I was feeling quite depressed.  I was also beginning to look rather old, haggard and scruffy.  There was also the problem of where it was getting to be so long it was a pain in the rear.

Too old to just comb it and let it flow, I was having to either just tie it back or put it in a bun of sorts.  It would have taken another 3 years to get it to a decent length for it to look good as a long single plait along with the fact there was still no sign of me going grey or even white.

So all in all I thought a change of hair style might give me a little bit of a boost and smarten me up a bit.

However, this long illness of mine and of not being able to eat properly for months and months all last year, my hair has become curly and coarse and now looks awful short, so I am growing it again.

But as it is growing and in a halfway stage it's looking even worse.  Too short to look tidy and too long to be put up or tied back decently.  So I have just now ordered a mini bun hair piece.

My hair is just long enough to pull up at the back into a mini scraggy pony tail so if I do that I can shove this bun piece on top and allow my hair to grow underneath it.

I've done this before with a bun piece many years ago when wanting to grow my hair.  I just hope the colour matches right.

What a great idea Sandy Smile I would never have thought of a hair piece like that.

I too have wanted to grown my hair longer again but because my baby fluff does not even have a kink in it, it looked horrible ones it grew past my ears so I kept getting it cut again.

A lot of people get stuck in a rut with short hair. Wanting to grow it but it looks so awful for so long as one lets it grow that we give in and keep cutting it.

When I have left the house up until now I have been wearing a really wide material hair band which looks ok with really short hair as well as the awkward stage but then there comes a time when it's longer but not long enough to make it to a decent pony tail or bun. This is my pet hate stage and the one I am at now. Hence the idea of getting the bun.

Back in the late 60s and early 70s it was quite the fashion to wear wigs, and I had them of all colours. I also had a great bun piece. I got rid of the wigs when they went out of fashion but the bun piece I kept for many years even though I had stopped wearing it. It came in really handy during the late 80s when I had had short hair for ages and wanted to grow it but had to look smart for the job I had at the time. I don't even remember throwing it away to tell the truth.

I suddenly remembered that bun piece today and instantly looked on Amazon to see if I could find a cheap one, which I did.

I tried short hair back in 1996 but as soon as it was cut, i swore to grow it long again. I had bangs for a long time because I could never get through the growing out stage. I'd get so frustrated with hair in my eyes, then a couple months later it was always in my nose, then a couple of months after that , in my mouth! My bangs are at this moment tickling my chin a bit but now I can tuck them behind my ears. They still won't stay in a loose braid but it's getting there. If I want a braid I either have to figure out pins or something for my bangs or do a tight braid that starts at my hairline.
It seems like I am always growing out my hair.  I do like being able to cut it myself though.
I like the idea of the hairpiece Sandy. I wish I'd thought of that, way back when!

I hope you feel better for wearing it Sandy. I've kept mine short for years now. It's super fine and when it's long it just goes straggly whatever I do with it.

I have never liked my hair, long or short.  To me I always feel so scruffy regardless of how tarted up I am with decent clothes and makeup on.

Before my illness my hair was dead straight but now as I say it's curly which makes it look even more scruffy.

When I was a teen, it was different, because I could afford to go to the hair dressers once a week along with having my hair done for special occasions.  I had long hair then and I would have a different style on a weekly basis.  It was great fun.

Now I feel comfortable with either really, really short hair as it is in my present avatar or long hair shoved up in a high bun.  But of course if one keeps it short it's a regular trip to the hairdresser to keep it short and the time and money that goes with that.  Now because of my illness, causing it to be curly, short hair looks bloody ridiculous so I have to grow it out.

At this point though, a hijab would come in really handy just to hide the bloody lot, lol.

Wendy I have the same problem with my hair and to be honest, shorter suits me better and makes me not so old looking. When I have my hair longer it tends to "drag" me down according to my friends here.

The other problem I had when I had my hair long is that I always had hair pain and scull pain from having to tie my hair up so tight to keep it looking neat!

I really don't like doing anything with my hair either so short is the easiest way to keep mine.

She is.  I had thought about having a hairdresser come to me to cut my hair rather than me go to the hairdressers, but I'm even too lazy to do that.
