Facts
Scientists say that a star goes super nova in our galaxy roughly every 26 years. They can see how many have gone super nova by the remnants left. They have counted the past super novas and have found there have been approximately 250 in the life of our galaxy. 26 years x 250 = 6,500 years - This is the approximate age of the Earth as written in the Bible.

Happy Tuesday everyone!
I wear pajamas all day almost every day. I buy mostly men's pajama bottoms because they are all-round better quality & cheaper than women's. Also they aren't all flowery  tongue

Good on ya Elaine and I would buy those too if I couldn't find anything decent in the women's range!
The ones I bought ... 1 is with butterflies Smile and 1 set is with stars.

Sandy I have my shower rail and I use that to hang hangers on with jumpers/t-shirts etc to dry.
Another thing I have is one of those small carousel thingys with pegs attached and that you can hang from the shower head and put all the underwear and socks on.

I did used to have something similar to that sort of thing Marie, but to be quite honest the flat is so tiny that anything that takes up floor space is best to be avoided if possible.

I put up a shower rail over my bath in my last flat Martha to hang stuff up on, but what I have in this new flat is a large closed in shower, so no rail and no curtain.  Although this is making me think now.

There would be no reason why I couldn't put a bath/shower curtain rail high up from wall to wall in the middle inside the actual shower.  Ummm. now that's an idea.

It's also a good idea to get mens PJ bottoms too Elaine.  As you say they aren't flowery and usually better quality.  WTG ladies.

Any more bright ideas?  Just chuck them my way.

That's a pain in the bum when one loses a post Geru.

I am jumping in here last minute.....
However when I saw you all talking about mens PJs are not flowery, I have a problem with underwear.
When I go to buy underwear, all I want is either black, white or beige.  What do they have?  A whole pkg of pink flowers, blue, dark gray (yuk) I am not a little girl, I do not want flowery underwear.  What the heck?    I wear old Granny panties, in other words, full brief, not bikinis, that young girls might wear.

So moving on from underwear debacle, a nice way to introduce myself....hello from Illinois.  Geru invited me here after the travesty over at YUKU or tapatalk or whatever is going on over there.  I couldn't even get in at all.  I was happy to hear from Geru. Not sure how she found my email, but sooo happy she did. I have been in groups since MSN had groups and have met several people in person that were in groups.    headbang

Today is Wednesday and usually we would be gone by now taking the two oldest granddaughters somewhere.  Since it is going to be 92 here today, we decided a trip to the beach.  But the oldest granddaughter was not feeling well last night and is afraid of getting sick again.   She was diagnosed with AD this past year and the medicine makes her sick to her tummy at times.  But her ear was kind of hurting too.  Just not sure what to do.  I don't like her on this medicine but  in some ways I see an improvement, she pays more attention to detail, but she is not happy go lucky as much.  She seems tired a lot.  Even though she has AD (attention deficit) she was still making straight A's in school. Which I had no idea was even possible, but they said she is smart enough to pick most of it up on her own.  But the teacher caught her reading ahead or reading a book during class, study since she couldn't pay attention to the teacher, she would sneak a book.  But she herself notices the difference so they kept her on the med.  It's very weak my daughter assures me...but still it sucks that she has an upset tummy.  They give it to her night, otherwise she was tossing her cookies on the way to school in the mornings.   So life goes on.  Evil or Very Mad Arrow I love you

We have 3 granddaughters all together.  2 from our daughter and one from our son.  The littlest one was born almost 2 weeks late, all covered in fecal matter, (baby poo) and not breathing. She spent 2 weeks in the NICU in St. Louis MO.  Very good hospital. They flew her there 30 minutes after she was born. We would stop by to see mommy, then go to St. Louis to spend time with the baby and give my son a chance to run back to Illinois to see his wife. She got to come to St. Louis after the 3rd day, and we rented hotel room for them.  I spent one night with the baby so they could spend time together and get some good sleep.  It all happened right as my husbands dad passed away, I tell ya. It was a busy time.  6 months prior to that my husbands mother passed away, and at the same time my son-in-law had a bout with cancer on his tonsils, we didn't know which way to turn when we hit the highway. North or South we had someone in the hospital an hour away.   This all happened right after my daughter got over having blood clots in her lungs from taking Birth control pills after the age of 35. Two years prior to that I had 2 back surgeries, a year apart, my father passed away, our brother-n-law passed away, our best friend was killed in a car wreck and my sister had a heart attack.  Sad

So that is enough of all of that bad news, the good news is: Our son-n-law is 3 years clean scans, they told us from the get go that they would cure him.  Our granddaughter is a spunky little stinker and doing just great. The only residual effect she had from lack of oxygen is her foot turns in and she wears a special insert in her shoe.  She is really smart and amazes us all the time the things she knows. She could of had asburgers etc, but she is doing well. The hospital in St Louis is a teaching hospital so they are continuing to track her and may do so until she is 10 or so, due to the treatment she had.  They cooled her body temp to 92`F for 3 days then warmed her over a 24 hour period. It is a fairly new treatment and they learned about it from children who had drowned in cold waters and they slowly warmed them back and they were OK. They say it resets the brain.

So as I warned in my introduction on the that page, I post way too much.  If it's a problem just let me know and I will cut it out.  Or if I am in the wrong forum for this let me know as well...I don't wish to upset anyone by doing it wrong! bounce

My mother is going to be 85 this DEC and she is a firecracker and not in a good way, so she keeps me running and she can say mean things too.  She is not well, so we have that too.  I try to keep my patience with her and so anyway, I think I often use these forums for therapy, so if anyone is still reading, LOL  that may be why I post so much.   What a Face
I wish you all a good day!!!   sunny

Sunny day here , dry and humid... what else is new right now ? lol .    My son just left on his big trip to Edmonton Alberta Canada,  ( for work )  this means he has to drive through all those fire regions in Bc , I am worried sick ,  and hope and pray he will be cautious , they have hundreds of fires burning , and some of them are HUGE  and some are on both sides of the highway from the video's they are putting on line, scary stuff .   What a Face

Finally made that dreaded bus trip to downtown, got to the furniture store and bought my lazy boy chair . but .... it won't get here for 6 weeks ,They did not have the colour I wanted ,( black leather )  so it's factory ordered ,  have to pay extra of course , to have it delivered, unpacked , put together and wrapping gotten rid of ... no less then $ 129.00 for that alone .  ouch  cyclops

Met 5 people from Kenya , on the bus,  they needed advice on how to get from here to there, with broken English ... lol, we made out alright . Very nice seeming people , all dressed very nice , lots of gold hanging from their dark dark skin  , looked smashing ... lol  . It was a mother with her 4 daughters , and the Grandfather was paying the bills , he is in the Safari business   cat , an interesting Bus ride .

Don't like flowery PJ's or underwear either ,  wonder who invented them ??  lol  And ... I have a  little rack hanging over the inside bathroom door , it has plastic covered hooks  on it , handy to dry my underwear on   . And I use my shower curtain rod to dry flimsy blouses etc on hangers over night , otherwise it's the clothes dryer  , love it .

Tara:  Soooo glad you found us, welcome to the group ,   read your post , of course I knew most of it , cause were old Yuku friends  . I got your email address because gave it to all of us , when Kay thought Yuku might be folding soon ,  good thing too, .  Enjoy your beach  trip    , hope to see you here  whenever you can make time within your busy life .

Have a great day everyone .

Tara you just type away and share as much as you want to share! You sure have your hands full with everyone in your family and I hope you still manage to have some me time!

Evening all and I'm posting while waiting on this big storm to hit. The south is copping it first so thinking of Mozzie and hope he and his family are ok, safe and warm.

Joy hope all went well at the dentist!

Geru I never thought to check on email addresses ... silly I know but now with people scattered on different forum/board systems it would have come in handy. Thanks for letting Tara know Smile

Good morning.  Its past noon already and I am still drinking coffee, not dressed.  I slept until 945. I hate when I do that. But we took the girls to the beach yesterday in the heat 92~F  I stayed in the water the whole time since we forgot lawn chairs, and with my back once I get down, its not pretty getting back up.  Man I hate that. Of course if one was thinner it would be easier, not talking about me of course Shocked Shocked  What a curse to have weight problems. My mom keeps loosing..she is down to 80lbs. She swears she eats all the time.

So I need to shorten some curtains today, I tried to do it a quick way, they look like doo-doo so do it right or don't do it.  I wished I would of bought sheers instead, however this large window faces west and it gets really warm in the afternoon, so I need some back curtain I can close easily.  So that is the agenda.  No kids for a few days, so looking forward to some rest and crafting...well sewing curtains  LOL
Have a great day!!!

Ah my grand babies!  The two oldest are sister, our daughter's girls, and the little one, our son's daughter.

@TaraLynn7 -  I also have terrible problems trying to find decent knickers.  All I ask for is either black or white that actually comes waist high and under my butt cheeks.  If I do find them, which is rare they have sold out of the small sizes.

It sounds to me that your Granddaughter doesn't so much as have AD but more like she is very intelligent and she reads ahead because she is being held back by the speed of the rest of the class, and therefore reads ahead because her brain has already understood what is going on and is bored.  I used to do that all the time when I was at school.  Always getting in trouble for it but I was just eager to get to the next bit of learning.  When you said about getting straight A's that was the first thing I thought about.

The dentist is the one thing, healthwise, that I pay insurance for and I have a fund for any extra treatment I have to pay for personally.  I loath our NHS denists.  They are rough, heartless, and most times inhuman.  I still loath going to the dentist, although I am sort of over my phobia, but going totally private, I am treated like a V.I.P.  Even offered a cup of tea if my appointment is not going to be dead on time.  If I take anyone with me, they are instantly offered tea or coffee while they wait for me.

Hope you got through the night without being blown away Martha, and that the journey to pick your Daughter up this morning wasn't too bad, weatherwise.

Lovely photos Tara.  I have to put up a curtain rail tomorrow in my new flat with just a dining chair to stand on and now, now strength in my wrists.  God I hate getting old.

Today I have the last bit of sorting to do.  I'm taking my bed down this evening when I have at least one of the girls here to help me and I am going to sleep on the mattress on the floor.  It will save me taking it down very early in the morning.  Moving men expected between 8am - 10am.

Just doing a small handful of washing in the hopes it will dry by tomorrow so I take no dirty clothes with me.  My washing machine wont be plumbed in until one day next week when I can get the chap over to do it.

Good morning everyone,
I'm heading in for another one today and as the week progresses it gets even hotter and am so not looking forward to it.

Nope, I live a condo on a third floor, but if I had a house most definitely I would have a clothes line.  =0)

geek lovely sunny day here , dry as a bone of course , temps are climbing and humidity is up

Heard from my son, he got to Alberta without any problems  he said , no fires in sight , and just a bit of smoke in one place . I am breathing a sigh of relief .

.

Came upon a peculiar sight last evening while out walking  . A man walking on the sidewalk, carrying a colorful folding cot , his beard was rather  black so he stood out , Then my eyes got side tracked .  Along side the road a women was pushing a baby stroller , and was wearing a niqab  ( covered up  all but her eyes ) but what got me was ....... it was RED  , it looked very very attention getting I tell you .  Her husband noticed me glancing over at her , and he gave a great big smile and said hi .......the whole thing made me  laugh  , I just could not help it , and wondered afterwards why  on earth that women was walking on the road instead of the sidewalk Evil or Very Mad   much to dangerous .

Martha: Hope that storm passed you bye, and funny... I just noticed  all the buttons on the bottom of your posts , when I click on  * forum * it takes me straight to your site  , how handy , been doing it the long way around .... lol

Tara:  Hot day at the beach for you , but enjoyed I bet .   Great photo's of the Gran's , they sure are getting big , specially the little one .   And..... maybe you got an Einstein in the family , straight A's ? wow .......hope she keeps it up .

Sandra:   knickers ??  lol  you British talk funny ... lol   We call them Brief's or panties lol . I like high cut briefs  , they come to your waist , but the side band is only about 2 inches , they fit well and don't bind .  Good luck with everything tomorrow , never met anyone so well organized  for the move .

Marie :  Is there air condition in the condo ?     If not  , hope you got fans, I use 3 to keep me cool .

We call them knickers here too Geru Smile First part of the storm passed and besides some minor flooding all is well. The next big storm is heading our way today (Saturday) with hail, thunderstorms and heavy rain expected so if you don't see me back online later you all know I've unplugged the computer and modem and am reading a book lol.

Geru I've done the same with the buttons on the bottom of users posts on my board Smile

Ah ok Linette that makes it harden then to dry anything outside indeed. I would be lost without being able to dry my washing outside.

Tara lovely photo's of your grandkids Smile

Sandy good luck today with the move!

I'm so glad the storm was not too bad for you Martha. I hope same goes with the next one.
Sandy, I'd be getting so excited about the new place. I love moving!
As far as the conversation about knickers goes (lol) I buy cotton leggings or yoga pants with wide no-elastic waistbands and then cut the legs off. VERY comfortable Smile

I could have said "drawers" instead of knickers. Actually when speaking I mostly use the word drawers, but wasn't sure if non Brits would recognise that one.

Our Aimee wears lovely tight mens boxers that have an imitation front slit and not a real one. I wouldn't mind wearing those but everytime I ask her where she got them, she says "oh you can buy them anywhere". Well, I can't find them without the pee hole. They are tight like the top bit of a pair of leggings will be and they look so comfortable. And with a T shirt they could also double up as summer PJs.

Your idea of cutting the legs off of yoga pants would produce the same affect Elaine. What a clever idea. I'm gonna give that a try. Thanks.

I've just woken up and having a quick cuppa, as I say in the sidebar, before the others wake up and I check for all the bits I need to take with me today. Even though the carpet people let me down, I am still pretty well organised. I just had to adapt my thinking a bit and make adjustments.

The next time I write I will be in my own home again.

Well, about all I can say is, that I am in my own place now.  Not cosy, but rather chaotic.  But not to worry, it wont take me long tomorrow to get sorted.

Had a problem with the removals showing up an hour and half late, but they were very good once they arrived.  They even plumbed my washing machine in for me for free.

I haven't been able to get the curtain rail up as it's far too hard for me to screw into the wood, But not to worry I have put a couple of boxes high in front of the window so people really would have to stop, and stare in and around the boxes to be nosy, and I'm sure they wont do that. I"m going to have to ask the office if they can spare a man to do it for me.

I'm too tired now to do much but I can get stuck in tomorrow.  Sarah dropped Louie off to me a little earlier and he was sort of freaking out at the strange noises he was hearing, so we have just been for a walk around the old area for him to be certain where he is again.  We met one of our old neighbours who made a fuss of him, and he has come back and settled down now.

It doesn't help that it all sounds so hollow and every noise from the communal areas can be heard because of having no carpet.  But hey ho, at least I am here.

Yup, was a good chat last night Martha. I've got a chap coming in anytime now to put my curtain rail up. He was working on site today fixing someone's plumbing and I managed to catch him whilst having a cup of tea with Brenda and a couple of other ladies in the next block.

So should be as organised this evening as I can be until carpet laying on Weds. Then get the rest of my boxes from Sarah's on Weds or Thurs evening and start the unpacking of them and putting bits where I want them.

Nice sunny day so far , but temps are going up ,  hotter days coming up it says , not looking forward to it , don't do  well with heat and humidity .

We are having an antique car show in the  little Village part of this City , have it every summer . So will get dressed and head down there, do some  grocery shopping while there , and then take the long way home .

Sounds like your move went off like clock work Sandy ,  all except the carpet, but even that will be on the floor before you know it ... a real trooper you are . Sounds like you and Martha have a great time on that Skype , technology does come in handy .

hello Elaine , and Becky and Maria, and Martha .

I am off to find the Wizard .......... dance
