Shakespeare made up the name “Jessica” for his play Merchant of Venice.
Shakespeare probably based it on the biblical name ISCAH, which would have been spelled Jescha in his time.

I wished we called them knickers here....sounds way better than panties or whatever..LOL
Thanks everyone about the grandchildren They are our life pretty much.

We took a ride yesterday, to a man made lake here in Illinois.   We wanted to check out the cottages there. Thinking about taking the two oldest gran-girls for the night. But you cannot check in until 5 pm, you have to leave by 10am, so we are thinking 2 nights or not this year.  The fishing is right there, but the swimming is a 10 min drive away.   What to do.....LOL j

After the ride we did a quick run into Walmart for milk, etc.  Came home for an hour and went uptown to eat and meet some friends.  The bar is a block away and they have a really nice huge outdoor deck. With the weather being 77 we were so looking forward to sitting out there.  Well they had a band, so we went inside to eat. Our friends came later and later into the night, she suggested we go out there, the tables were opening up and the band only had one more set. Well their one more set was an AC-DC look alike singers join them.  Well it's a big deck but not that big, they were not singing but screaming.  I couldn't hear a dang thing anyone said or even after the band took a break. We went back inside.  We came home about midnight.  Late for us old fogies.  I couldn't believe the 50 yr. old woman out there jumping and dancing like 20 yr olds.  Worse were the men, 50 yrs old, long hair, teenager hair cuts, ponytails, earrings...hahaha   Trying to look cool...heaven help me. I know its hard to be lonely or single but wow.   LOL  I really am old....If I ever become a widow I hope I don't run around trying to act like a teenager.  I was born old, I never did like acting like that in front of a band.  Well I am 61 already so probably I wouldn't do that.

So Sandy sounds like the move went well.  Exciting getting a new place and redecorating.  I love to decorate.  Except I. Might. Over-decorate.  Just a little....haha  I didn't see any photos as mentioned, did I miss them somewhere?
Geru, I love car shows, they are fun to look at.  I hope you enjoyed yours.

It's Sunday and I am doing laundry.  Someone has to do it...LOL    Hubby is BBQ some ribs and pork steaks.  Hopefully we can sit out later tonight.  Take care everyone!!

It's been a quiet Sunday here. Hot though.
I did a bit of tidying up today and will take care of my roses when the sun starts going down. I'm having a very nice weekend alone.
Have a nice Monday everyone  I love you

No Photos yet @TaraLynn7 as it's all still chaos here with just the furniture dumped in and a couple of boxes of bits I am going to need until they lay the carpet on Wednesday. The removal chaps will bring the rest of my boxes over once the carpet is down.

Martha had a guided tour via Skype the other night. Had lots of suggestions from her as to how I can make more storage as it's such a tiny place. I might make a little video next weekend to give a virtual tour for everyone else.

A couple of years ago I went to a UB40 concert with my Daughter that she had treated us to. All a bit long in the tooth now, but then so were the audience. I have always loved that band. I have to say that we as fans behaved a little more circumspectly than it sounds like the evening you experienced was, lol. It was a terrific evening.

The weather today can't make up it's mind what it wants to do. I have to ring around everywhere official to give my new address and phone number too. It's surprising how many places there are that one needs to update.

I'm hoping to get my curtains up today with one of the on site workman coming in to do the rail for me.

Yesterday Brenda from the next block invited me along for lunch with two other ladies. One I already knew but the other moved in here the month after I moved out last year, so it was nice to meet someone new. Louie was invited too, so he got out of the chaos for a little while too.

Jess (youngest GD for you Tara) popped in for an hour or so between her shifts yesterday evening. She helped me put my table together and up. Bit heavy for me to do alone as I am still so weak (muscle wise) from being ill for so long. I must start doing some strength exercises to build my muscles up again to where they should be.

Can't wait to get the carpet down Weds and the Sky TV installed tomorrow so that I can start living normally again.

Sounds like it's getting there Sandy. Good of the removals men to fit your washer. Made up for the delay in a small way. Fingers crossed you get your curtains up too. Once they are done and the carpet's down it will start to feel more like home. Glad Louie settled down quickly after his initial nervousness.

I'm catching up on housework after having my GD here for the weekend. My sister rang to move our lunch forward by half an hour as she has to work at 3pm so I really need to get on with it instead of sitting here drinking coffee. lol

Tara:   Until I retired at 66 , I lived in a young peoples town where my job kept me for many many years .  Up until then I danced every weekend  , right along with all the young ones , had a great time and it kept me young . I once nearly named one of my message boards Penny Farthing Geru.

I remember the farthings (money) very well, in fact I still have one or two tucked away. The woman living next to us when I was very young was so tight that she only gave us a farthing each to run to the shop along the road to get her bits she had forgotten. All the other neighbours used to give us a penny each. But in those days you never said no to an adult and we were taught not to expect any money for doing a favour anyway, so we still went for her. I still remember her name, Mrs Pollett.

It's dry down south here at the moment Wendy, but I can see the rain is on it's way sometime soon today. So annoying that we have only had a handful of real summer days so far and it's already August.

We've had more storms and there was damage north from me because of a tornado and south from me because of the 100km an hour wind! I was lucky and no damage here but oh boy did it get nasty with heavy rain, hail and thunderstorms all in the mix.

I just kept my things unplugged and read a book, snuggled up under a blanket.

Geru Skype is the best thing ever and I use it to talk to my family in Holland and Sandy of course and we've had sessions that would go for 6-7 hours, hey Sandy Laughing.

Not long got home from having dinner at Catherine's so need to catch up on a few boards and check my emails etc.

We had lots of smoke here at the lower mainland today. It blocked out the sun for a while but cleared later on in the afternoon. British Columbia continues to burn Sad
I found some wild chamomile yesterday and so picked some and am drying it now. It sure smells nice!
