There you go Sandy. Another less than perfect family. lol I think ours are the norm and the perfect ones are a myth. Kids can all be ungrateful brats however old they get. My younger daughter who visits quite regularly now once stormed out over her daughter opening a Christmas present from my mum. Long, silly story but she said she was never coming again and didn't speak to me for six months. She eventually rang when she wanted something. I forget what now but ever since I've just ignored her tantrums and to be fair they're much rarer these days. She shows up once she gets over it. I've stopped tying myself in knots over anything any of them do or don't do.

Glad your delivery at least arrived after the wait GERU and you like your chair. Can't beat a comfy chair. I broke five ribs years ago but luckily they were the opposite side from the one I sleep on. Not that I slept laying down for a long time but at least I'm not sleeping on them now.

I need to shift myself and get dressed. Bin day today and I need to sort out the littertray etc. before I can put the wheely out. After that I'm washing bedding and doing some ironing and other chores. My joy is boundless!

The times I've done that @Mozzie.  Gone to bed only to get up a short while later and back in the comp with a cup of tea through not being able to sleep.  Hope your headache has now gone.

I know exactly how you feel with the germs that one can pick up from all over Geru.  Bannisters are a big culprit as well as lift buttons.

That's a lovely chair you have there.  I really must think about getting a couple of new smaller chairs to take the place the giant one I have now.

Louie is amazing for understanding what I am saying until it comes to telling him to do something he doesn't want to especially the word "No".  Then he cops a deafen.

You are right Wendy.  Perfect families just don't exist, lol.  I'm beginning to see that now.

I think the problem many of us seem to have with our kids and grandkids is our own fault.  We have loved them too much, given into them too much and been at their beck and call too much.  It's made them selfish and self centred, and given them the impression that they are more important than anyone else.

My Aimee came over yesterday to use my printer, stayed for a cup of tea and a chat, telling me all about the live in job she has been offered in another county.  She was as good as gold and extremely polite with no sign of her usual abruptness or shortness with me.  I think she really has got the message that I don't want to see her, unless her visits are going to be pleasurable and not tense in case she kicks off over the silliest of things.

There is no reason why a difference of opinion or a discussion has to turn into an argument.  I may be forgetful now of something I might have been told a few days prior and I may be slightly deaf, but I'm not an idiot and I wont put up any longer with being spoken to as if I am.

Now my Daughter Sarah is a different kettle of fish.  She is as stubborn as they come and as far as she is concerned is always right, and will never give an inch.  She is going to be harder to turn the tables on.

Normally if I don't have some sort of contact with her during the course of a couple of weeks, I will be the one to do the running with phone calls and such.  But I'm now letting her know that I have a life of my own and she is not my be all and end all.  That my life is more important to me than her life and happiness is.  I have always gone running to soften the blows that life has dealt her over the years, as it deals all of us, but all that has done has made her take me for granted when she needs me and dump me when she doesn't.

Because she sees me as a mat to wipe her feet on it's made her lose all respect for me as her Mother.  Now I have to gain that respect back by letting her see she is not the most important person in my life, but just part of my life.

They do say that you can't change other people's faults, but you can change your own attitude and reactions to those faults which in turn will change their attitude towards you.  So far it's working with Aimee, now I have to make it work with Sarah.

Charlie is due in about an hour to put my flat pack together and so I will have to make sure the kettle is on.  I'm slowly getting my new flat how I like it.

Thanks for that Marie.

I've been enjoying myself today doing "Housework" - Charlie put up my new unit in the kichen so after he had gone I spent awhile moving things from one cupboard to another and finding space now for stuff that had just been dumped on the surfaces.

He also put a key safe on the wall outside of my door for me, and is arranging for the office to cut me another key to put in there.  They are security keys and one has to go through the office to get more as you can't just walk into a key cutters and get it done.

While he was here he changed the unit on the top of my front door (fire door) that closes the door automatically in case of fire.  The other one was an old style and made the door so heavy for me to open and close with my carpel tunnel.  So I now have the more newer version.

He will come back some time to put a TV mount on my wall to get my tv off of my sideboard where it is taking up room that I could use for other things.  I bought the mount a short while before I moved out of the old flat and in with my girls, and never got around to installing it, so it's still in it's packaging.  Things are slowly but surely getting done.

Nice sunny and mild day here, but no rain again .... what else is new right ?

just sort of dropping in , not staying long right now .

Thanks for the complement on my chair Dazzal , Whisper and Sandra .    It;s good quality leather , and not really a small chair , normal size , but seem to have lost the enlarging thing here on the photo  , wonder why ?   can't delete either , everything worked fine last evening .

Sandy: love your pink chair , it is very comfy looking . much like a chaise lounge you might say . Also like the new kitchen shelves Charlie put up for you, mighty handy .

Photo from a family visit , two sisters and two nieces .

 See you later folks .

Lovely photo. Enjoy your company GERU.

Good for you Sandy. I'm sure Sarah will learn even if it takes a bit longer than with Aimee. It sounds like Charlie is a godsend and the flat is starting to feel like home now.

I had a long chat last night with the friend I'm going to visit. She's more excited about it than I am but then she's not doing the flying. lol

Grocery shopping this morning and once I've dropped mum's off I'm hoping for a lazy afternoon.

Love the photo Geru.

What I love about Charlie is, although his service, so to speak, is all part of the associations new plans to keep all of us oldies, fit, healthy and able to be independant for much longer in our old age, he does it with such pleasure. He really loves his job and much prefers the part of it that is helping us than the part where he is doing his normal carpentry part of it putting in the kitchens and such in the renovation part of the flats as they become empty.

But if I wanted say an electric socket moved, it would be their electrician that comes in to do that or their plumber if I wanted a new loo or painter when I will need my flat redecorated. The company don't hire sub-contractors you see, they employ all their own workmen full time. The only one they don't employ is the aerial chap. He has his own company and they book him in when needed.

This new system of theirs is fantastic.

---------------------------------------------

Had to stop writing this for a bit as Charlie just popped in to drop off another door key for me to put in my key safe he put up yesterday for me. He stopped for a cup of tea.

He is also coming back later today to do something about that large gap under my front door.

Flying I really wouldn't fancy but what a whale of a time you are going to have once you get there Wendy.

Now for some breakfast for me, and think about washing the bathroom and kitchen floors.

Sunny day here , am late as usual , stay up to late , and naturally sleep to late , not good ... lol
Today I must get to the Drugstore again , they have a sale on , and with their normal  prices you best take advantage  of the sale.

Sandy: Charlie is a God's sent for sure , how lucky you are to have him come in and do things for you.  that space under your door will be a job and a half .    What you got there is OK, and looks cute , but I would worry about bugs and rodents getting in  . Keeping my fingers crossed for you .

Been reading with interest how it all works   at your place .  Sounds like a great set up for the Seniors in that complex  , won't find this around here . they do have assisted living places , but they cost plenty . You can get what you can afford  usually 4 floor buildings ... studio , 1bdr, 2brd . , 2  meals a day  in a dining room , and snacks , make your own breakfast , or just eat the muffins and other snacks to take away with you to your suite  , once a week house cleaning , once a week clean linens  is also supplied , ( do your own personal laundry )  you can get assistance for help with bathing or dressing  if needed , or taking meds on time if needed , but that cost's extra.   The whole thing is very expensive , I will not be able to afford this .   There is subsidized assisted living  , for which you must apply to see if you qualify long process   ¡¡¡¡   .It is the same sort of deal, and no one knows who is subsidized and who is not , so that is one good thing ... but ... I really like your set up better .

Whisper:  I do hope you will enjoy flying , I love flying and have done lots of it , but not lately , long story .  Enjoy your lazy afternoon

Dazzle:  Thanks ,    the photo did not turn out the

way I wanted it to , the Bear is mostly hidden . The City painted several of them all colours , and displayed them all over the tourist part of town , very cute

How is  the house hunting coming along ?

Marie:  Hello there  buddy from Canada , any rain out your way ?

Must get out of here and catch some sun .
 .

Hi everyone.

I worked 7 hours today
and then went to a two day produce sale
at the grocery store.
It was so crowded but I got some great deals on fresh fruits
and vegetables.
I bought two big watermelons. (For 1 dollar and 89 cents each.)
I got home and my husband asked what barn we would keep them in.  Haha.

I think we all have some difficult relatives
or family members we have issues with
or family members that have issues with each other.

Just because we have some of the same DNA
doesn't mean it is easy to always get along with each other.

I had a mother that suffered from mental illness
and was verbally and physically abusive.
My father didn't live with us after I was seven years old.
So it was just us and my mother.
(Until we went to live with my father when I was 14)
I kept my children away from my mother when they were
growing up so she would not hurt them emotionally.
Or twist their thinking in any way.

I think my daughters are very protective of me
because they know some of the things I lived
through as a child.
That's not to say we have never argued or
got on each other's nerves.
We all live close to each other but I don't see
them during the week.
And we never drop by without calling first.
I do have my granddaughters over a lot on the weekends.

As an aside, I still try and be civil/kind toward my mother
and have forgiven her.
She is very difficult sometimes and I have to be in the mood
to deal with her.

Now everyone in the family has issues
with a second cousin of my mother named Fred.
He also married my father's sister so he is my uncle.
My aunt divorced him but they live together again now.
He is always the loud mouth in the group
who says any low-class thing that enters his head.
He has no filter.
He has a beautiful singing voice though.
He has sang many a pretty song around the Christmas Holiday.
And he won't go away anyway, so there it is.   headbang

Geru,

My favorite Aunt, my Auntie Linda is on a list for a subsidized place for seniors.
Her husband died a few years ago and she has been living
with her son (my cousin) and his wife. It has been difficult for her living
under the same roof with my cousin's wife.

She did have to go through filling out papers and getting on the list
but she wants to get her own place
that will also have nurses and some care on hand when she gets to
the point of needing more care.
She is 73 and has a few issues with her feet
and doesn't drive anymore.

Morning all Smile I wished I could compliment on all the photo's posted but I don't see any of them!

I don't see the background here either; nor the affiliates buttons. Sandy I have posted on FM help board about this as I have the same problem on my board too.

Sunny day here and I'm debating starting to do a little outside work.

As for family drama's ... I've had my share and will post about that another time.
I did learn through that though that what I need, want and desire, matters too and so I learned to go for what I want first and foremost!
The saying "if you can't love/respect yourself, how can you expect someone else to?" Applies to everything in life.

Ok opened the board up in Pale Moon and just saw the beautiful chair Geru Smile enjoy it!

All images show in Pale Moon Sandy but no idea why FF is playing up for me. I did everything suggested on the help forum so it's a mystery at the moment lol.

Doing the washing at the moment and then will get stuck into a little cleaning I think, before resting with a good movie.

Back later ........

@zucker7not - Our assisted housing works the same here.  Private = very expensive or state = long waiting list.

With this housing society I'm renting from we have the security of state housing but it's all private.  They have no idea of our financies or whether we are getting housing benefit or not.  We just have to be over 60 to rent one and the rents are so very cheap.  I have no idea if there is anything elsewhere in the country like it.

@Kerri - We have a younger Sister with mental issues (I'm being kind with that word) that has caused a lot of family problems over the years.  I am just so thankful that she now lives in a different county right across country and the only contact I have with her is a phone call between us on occasions.

@Spherical - That's a bummer about FF matie.  I wonder if you delete it and download it again if it would work?

Well, it's taken me a long time, as you know Martha, to learn to put me first, and I'm still learning.  I do know that since moving back into my own place and concentrating on me and total independance I have been a lot happier.

Sarah and Aimee popped in again on the way home from Aimee picking Sarah up from work, for Aimee to use my printer to scan her work sheet.  Sarah I could feel was a little uncomfortable, because of me putting my foot down just before I left letting her and Aimee know in no uncertain terms that I'm not putting up with the disrespect and bullying anymore, but she was pleasant, if a bit stilted with her speech and demeaner.  Well, I should say polite rather than pleasant.

They stayed for exactly 12 minutes.  I know that because I paused my film on tele as they came in and on starting it again after they had gone it showed how long it had been paused.

We also (pleasantly) had a little conversation about them getting their own printer.  I'm not going to have them simply popping into me as they would a shop, just to print something out and then go.  I'm not a bloody convenience store.  If they haven't the decency to stop for a cup of tea while they drop in for printer use, then that can stop.

@Beckea   Hi Beckea.

Seems we are going to have a good weekend weatherwise.  It's still early (8.30am) and Louie isn't up yet, so I'm not sure yet what I'm going today.

@Kerri. It's lovely after all you went through that you have such a wonderful relationship with your grandchildren. As for the loud mouth, every family has one. lol One of my adopted daughters had/has some serious mental health issues. It's very tough on the whole family when what one member does impacts so heavily on the rest.

@GERU. What you do is better than me at least. I go to bed way too late and get up way too early. Not a good combination.

Martha that will teach you to stick with a decent browser. Wink Seriously though I hope you sort out the issue soon.

I have a cat resting her head on my hand while I type. Pushy little madam is getting a bit clingy lately. I think she knows something is happening because she's seen suitcases before.

I've been pretty sick for a few days but much better today. I think it was some kind of stomach flu. I'm glad to be having coffee this morning!
Today I have to go out no matter if I feel healthy or not. I must go to the bank and the animal hospital for supplies, then off to the market because the fridge is empty.
Have a beautiful weekend everyone! hug

@Zandranna yes I am going to uninstall and then re-install FF tomorrow and see if that fixes it.
Ha good for you standing your grounds with the printer too matie. Enough is enough.

Wendy I know right! I have been using FF because of a few add-ons I needed but I tend to use Pale Moon normally.

Love the beautiful pics you always post Elaine Smile Glad to hear you're feeling better today.

Hello!

Geru, your chair looks so comfy. I looked all over for a pic of a pink chair someone mentioned.  I am all about the pink...... I got to buy a new chair about 5 yrs ago. I bought a lift chair, I was just getting ready to go in for my 3rd back operation.  It is NOT comfortable.  You know I sat in it at the store, and I was more happy with the price, but after walking and having pain, anything felt good.  It broke within the first week, they came out and said it would take about 5 weeks to get the part. But the repairman said wait a minute, he went out in his truck and made a phone call.  Then he came back in, said I called them and said hey this lady has troubles and she needs this chair.  She is having surgery next week, so they came the next day with a brand new one.  That was a store called Weekends only.  They are about 45 min away. I tried to buy locally, our neighbor works at the local furniture store. But all their lift chairs have to be ordered and take 6 to 8 weeks. I bought a new couch and chair from him a few years later.

So busy week, last week eye specialist.  This week Dentist and doctor.  I was so nervous about the doctor, I had not forced myself to get on a scale for a year.  (when I did weight watchers, I promised myself I would never do that again)  It upsets me and messes with my whole day.  I figured my blood pressure would be up, but ah...I was down 6 pounds from last year, not nearly what I need to lose but hey its a loss and not a gain..so my blood pressure was perfect.    The doctor came in and was limping. She said she let her knee go too long and she was out walking her dog and the bones just broke around her knee. She is getting a total knew replacement in a few weeks. The she adjusted that little rolling stool they always sit on, and promptly fell right in the floor.  Scared the heck out of me.  Of course she was embarrassed and worried about her knee.  She kept talking, I said I will go and get someone to help you up.  She was  all no no, I just want to rest my knee first before I try to gt up, so goes on talking.  A nurse heard it came running in. She wouldn't let her help either.  Another nurse came in with a cane, said maybe you need to keep this by you.   Once she got up and sat down and settled down, she started laughing and said thank God this happened with someone I knew.  My daughter use to work there.   I was back there for over an hour.  Hubby was in the waiting room wondering if I died. LOL   Oh boy. I won't soon forget that visit.  She offered to write me a script for a one level home. We have 4 levels here, hard on me to get up and down at times.  The perfect house came up for sale and I told him, he made that mad face again...geezzz   He said out house needs too much work on it to sell it.  It needs a new kitchen floor that's it.  It is about 24 yrs old, we built it. We put in a tile floor and a new sub floor underneath about 6 or 7 yrs ago.  Many tiles have cracked and they are chipping like mad.  They were suppose to be commercial grade tiles I thought we would be done forever. Now we have to tear them out.  YIKES So Eye doc, Dentist, Doctor and once I get the mammogram I will be good again for a year.  Good reports from all, now gotta make it through the mammogram.

So then we went shopping. I order my clothes online so I don't have to walk around and shop but hubby I have to shop with him.. But he is quicker.  Why can't womens clothes be like mens. This size waist, this length.  Except us woman wouldn't want to know the size of our waist. LOL  Anyway, a pair of dress pants, a dress shirt and tie in 30 min.  But I got to go to my stores too.  I wanted to go to one more but my legs were all wore out.  Numb on the sides.  So we came home unloaded the car and went uptown for a sandwich.  It was a lovely evening and they have a large outdoor deck THAT WAS ALL FULL SO WE HAD TO EAT INSIDE!!!   They had peel & eat shrimp for 50 cents a piece.  I had 6 of them, they were large and yummy.  So needless to say I am worn out today. My back has a sort of cramp in it, it will work it's way out but getting there....

Is anyone here in the way of the hurricane?  It did make landfall I read this morning and it must of broke it up some, it got downgraded to category 1.   But still 90 miles per hour winds and lits of rain.  Stay safe!

I wish you all a great day!!

Nice sunny morning here , 19c , but still dry as a bone , not good for those fires , more and more are springing up .
My stomach is feeling better, but that arthritis is still acting up , specially in the neck part right now .

The sky is blue, the grass is green, soil is brown  , the cat is scratching , the dog is barking .... lol ..
Interesting ... right ?   Embarassed

Just realized yesterday, that whatever we write here on this forum , can also be read on Face book and not sure how it is with Twitter , ( If you happen to be a member there, and like Zane's Zone page )   oh my goodness , don't think   I like this ArrowRolling Eyes
--------------------------------------------------------

Elaine: Happy to hear you are feeling lots better , me too, but it sure took  a few days with me .
Love the beautiful Hello graphic , and good shopping for food .

Whisper:  I have lots of sleeping hrs like you too, when I say sleeping in here, that means 9am , during the week traffic starts early and wakes me up, but ever so often I can fall back to sleep . Going to bed late needs improving with me , I need more sleep for sure

Kerri;  Yup , we all have our cross to bare I see , some are bigger then others , some are smaller , but they are there .  Your Aunt has a good chance of finding a place I bet , she lives with someone , and all need privacy  , I can positively see that in her situation  , wishing her good luck .

Sandy :   Sarah and Aimee ..... I bet they feel like you don't want them around ,  because you  put your foot down ... Laughing    Relatives  can be so insensitive about  each others needs  at times , glad you are sticking to your guns .

Tara:  Thanks ,  wow, you have been having busy days , keeping the medical profession happy, glad all turned out Ok .  Now that is quite the doctor visit experience story ....poor Doctor...... guess they are human after-all . My GP never seems to get sick , he is 73  I think, tells me he is bombarded with bugs every day , and gets immune to lots of them . Now that reminds me .

On FB last evening  I saw a post , where the Canadian Government  is asking funeral homes to get ready for pandemic situation death .  Even asking for volunteer grave diggers to register in the towns . Now it did not say a pandemic exists right now , but just get ready it said in every way and form .
Scary sounding ,  but could be do to all the immigrants Trudeau has brought in , and all the illegals coming here in droves from the USA  ( just like I knew they would )   Now it could all just be propaganda  , but it's not an impossibility  . Scary posting , will go back and find out just who posted it .They posted a link, that leads back to Canadian Government with this article .

PS . you can find the pink chair on Sandra's  *New Flat* Video

Martha:  Thanks ,   glad you finally got things working , the chair is really not that important.... lol , but to me of course it is .Ps never heard of Pale Moon browser .

@Whisper I used to be very late going to bed and then waking early, which meant I was getting no sleep at all hardly. Since moving I’ve trained myself to be in bed and asleep soon after midnight and getting up about 7am. So I am getting more sleep now.

@Elaine Bummer you have been so ill. I hope you are now a lot better.

@TaraLynn7 That “pink” chair is actually lilac, although it probably doesn’t show up very well as that on the video, which is here http://www.zandranna.com/t355-my-new-flat-a-first-glimspe - I would really like two smaller chairs. Buying that was a mistake as these places are so small.

Wow! Your poor Doctor and how embarrassing for her to have that happen in front of a patient. I bet she feel as awful about that as she did about the pain in her knee.

@Spherical I see on your board you finally got FF sorted. I love FF for their add ons but boy does it keep crashing. It’s the worst of browsers for doing that.

@zucker7not Very strange about those pandemic warnings or preparations or whatever it is. Mind you, I never believe anything I read on Facebook, there are so many fake reports being posted on there.

@Whisper You just gotta love those cats, lol.

I had a nice afternoon yesterday. Aimee has a friend staying, and he is only a friend, He is one of her x-box buddies on some war games they all play as a group with their headphones on chatting as they go. I have met him via Skype when they have been chatting but she wanted to bring him over to meet me in person. They ended up staying for about 3 hours and we all played cards at Aimee’s suggestion.

They are coming over tomorrow evening for dinner and a proper card evening. Aimee said Sarah might like to come as well as Martyn will be working that evening. Aimee’s attitude seems to be totally different now. Let’s hope it lasts.

This morning I’m going to try the church meeting they have in our dining hall on site on Sundays. I’m not over keen on the one I have been to this last couple of times, as I mentioned in my journal. The people are nice but the worship is boring. Let's see what this other one has to offer.

I hope you take more of a liking to the second one Sandy. I try and get to sleep by 1am and get up at 6am so not nearly enough sleep. I tried going earlier but just end up reading my book for longer until I get sleepy. I do try and lie in until 8am on weekends. It rarely works but I do snatch the odd extra hour sometimes.

Wow Tara that poor doctor. Good that she could laugh it off but I'm sure she was embarrassed too. That floor sounds like a big job but if that's all that needs doing I'd have thought it was worth it if it makes selling easier.
