PostSubject: September Chit Chat   01/09/17, 09:41 am

Another month over.

I had a pleasant afternoon with Niece Beverley and Ted yesterday. My Sister Barbara popped in for an hour or two also.

We were sitting in the conservatory when the heavens opened, thunder and lightening, the lot. It pelted down, and Louie came running in immediately, but after sitting watching it through the open door he suddenly thought that getting wet wouldn't be such a bad idea after all, and decided to go out and play in it.

Every so often he would come in and shake himself dry, jump all over us with excitment and then go rushing out again haring around like a mad thing. He had a whale of a time.

Today for me is a spot of housework and then I want to go up and get a battery for a watch, that I have now stuck on my wrist because I keep forgetting to get one for it.

Today looks like it's going to be a nice one.

Wow so Louie is not scared of thunderstorms! Sounds like he had fun.

I just finished watching Safe Haven;a movie from 2013 and one I'd seen before but was good to watch again.

Now just checking out a few boards while using my tablet.

Next time we're on Skype I need to check out the camera again on this tablet Sandy.

That is funny about Louie!
How cute that he likes to play in the rain.

Martha,
Is that a good movie?
I have not seen that one.

I went to the Minnesota State Fair with
my granddaughters this morning.
We had a really fun time, but I am a bit tired
after all that walking.
Then when we got back here,
we all went swimming for a bit.
I drove the girls home and have collapsed
in the recliner with a large salad and my lap top computer.
I just flung the towels up to dry
and decided I am not doing any work around here
until tomorrow morning.
Then I will need to do a few loads of wash.
I may make some cold potato salad
as it is our long holiday weekend here. (Labor Day.)
Monday is a paid day off of work for me
and I took a vacation day today so I could
have an extra long weekend.
Our state fair ran all last weekend and last week.
Monday is the last day of it.

22C here today and sunny.
Nice weather for several hours of walking.

Hope everyone has a good rest of your day!

PostSubject: Re: September Chit Chat   02/09/17, 10:21 am

We had one of our bank holiday weekends last week. Our village here was packed with visitors from miles around because of it being right on the beach as it is and as the whole 3 days were beautiful summer weather. It's the summer visitors that really keep our village going. But I can honestly say, that apart from carnival night I've never seen it so busy.

Nope, Louie isn't scared of noises at all Martha. While I was there and just before the heavens opened Ted had been out in the garden with one of the most noisiest of petrol grass mowers you have ever heard. Louie didn't bat an eye lid at it. He just carried on playing out there. Ted got the lawn mowed just at the right time, before the rain came.

Charlie was in here drilling yesterday because he put my tele on the wall for me, and Louie sat beside him watching all the time at what he was up to.

It's amazing that I have only been gone from here for about 18 months and it seems we have had at least 3 shops close, sell up and new type businesses open in their stead. It really looks to me as if our village is growing and not declining as we all once thought. If this keeps up we will soon be classed as a town and not a village.

I have an idea that more specialised businesses are coming because the rent and rates are cheaper for shops here than in a main town, and although they have a shop they are also selling a lot on line to keep them going. This is why they are more interesting businesses and not the usual village shop type deal.

They closed the real post office down while I was gone but a new one is being opened 16th October in the birthday card shop. Seems the P.O. are going back to the old days of having a post office in all towns again but in the backs of other businesses.

Over where my Sister and Niece live their post office was closed a couple of years ago and now they are having a new one opening in the village pub shortly.

Small villages and small village towns really started to die at one point because all the banks closed in them, post offices were disappearing, and shops were closing and turning into charity shops. People then had to travel to all of those and of course all the money was going to the bigger towns.

It looks like things are on the up again. Now they just need to sort out the public transport. No buses now within a 40 minute walk where Sis and Niece live, and they have stopped our little shuttle bus from here direct into the main town as well. We still have the longer trip buses every half hour though thank goodness. But with out little shuttle bus wherever you were you could put your hand out between bus stops and it would stop for you. Same with coming back home, you stood up and said to the driver, "can you just drop me off here please". It was always packed with us oldies tooing and froing.

As I mentioned above, Charlie came yesterday and put my tele on the wall clearing off the surface of my sideboard for more pleasant things to look at. I don't know what I will put on it but I'm sure I will think of something.

One of the wires to my sky box is too short to go in the plastic casing that hides the wires but he is going to sort out a longer one for me and come back and change it. I'm now having to get used to watching it higher up than normal. But it looks so much neater now and even better once the last wire is hidden.

Because Charlie came in unexpectedly yesterday morning I didn't get done what I was going to get done so I'm going to do all that today.

Just a flying visit but I have read everyone's posts. Great that Louie isn't scared of loud noises.

I'm ploughing through the list of things I have to do before I leave. The longest job is updating the laptop. Seems to take hours these days. I've left it to do that and charge while I get other things done. An early night for me I think. My daughter is arriving at about 6.30am and I want to be showered, dressed and all packed by then.

See you all around the 20th September probably.

Happy Saturday, Everyone.

Have a wonderful time, Wendy!

Sandy,
So nice that your television is on the wall now
and gives you some extra space.
Sounds like Charlie is wonderful and helpful.
Wish I had a Charlie! Haha

I got up early and began using the two
clothes washing machines and clothes dryers
that we have in our building.
I live in a small apartment complex
with only four buildings.
And our apt building itself is smaller than the other
buildings.
So we only have two washers and dryers in the laundry room.
I began wash at 8 AM and i am just
finishing up now. (3 hours later)
My four granddaughters took showers
after swimming yesterday.
And their pool/beach towels also needed
a washing.
I needed to do some Autumn cleaning of blankets
that they use as well.

My husband dis still mending nicely
but in a wheelchair.
So he can't help with a lot of the work that needs doing.
I don't mind.
I am just so happy that he is getting better.

Have a great rest of your day!

We have a scorching  hot long weekend here ... Labor  Day , oh boy  not letting up either it says , oh dear it's 25c now , and going up to 33c today , now that is bad for around here, no one is conditioned to this kind of heat here , the ambulance will be busy .

I was watching * Diana * on Netflix ,  a documentary  of her life story, with lots of pictures etc , very interesting .  She was so pretty ,and really loved Charles .... but ...... you get teary eyed ever so often . It explains a lot of things , but I believe some things are left out  , I have read some dreadful stories  as to her death , but what can you believe ... !!

I am going to take Sandy's advise, and not post anything on here that I would not tell my  neighbor  , specially where things from here can be read on FB and Twitter , thanks for her advise I say .

It has been interesting reading on here lately , and I can see we have all had our share of  man trouble ( including me )  My life story would make a  good book or movie,, so I tell my actual neighbors nothing any more  . Living in a big city is no different then living in a small town I have found out the hard way . Big City's have little Street villages in them all over the City  ,and here they are thriving . My little village here  has no less then 5  banks ,1 Drugstore , 1 Grocery store  , 3  ladies clothing stores ,  2 gift shops , 1 bakery ,I Butcher shop , 1 art supply shop , 1 Toy store, 2 shoe stores, 1 dry cleaner , one shoe repair shop, 1 jewelry store ,2 Travel offices,  1 special tea's shop, 3 Dentists , ! Dental clinic , and a whole bunch of coffee shops , restaurants  and much more . it's a thriving village , but lots of stores have gone under , and lots open instead ...  . The coffee-shop gossip is plentiful affraid affraid

Whisper:  Bon Voyage !!   we will miss you M
Martha:  I will have to see if I can find * Safe Haven *

Sandy :  thanks for directing me to the * all about me * page .Sky-box ? is that your TV ? Oh yes, I could use  a Charlie too,  oh to have the gift of the gab , , I am the quiet type , but never stop thinking ... lol . Ask and the doors shall be opened they say , well , not all the time , lol .  Anyways.... glad he came and put the Tv on the wall, now you have more room to make it practical or pretty .

Tara;   yes you have lived a protected life , you have been fortunate that way.

Sally: if you are reading this .... how is Pearl doing ?

kerri;  I can see you have your hands full with all the work, and having the Grans there . Sounds like a real fun day alright , but I can see flopping in the burgundy chair .... lol . Glad to hear your husband is improving  . Sandy needs to talk Charlie in to going over to your place to see what needs fixing ....

Have a great and safe time Wendy Smile see you when you get back.

Kerri I really liked Safe Haven.
Safe Haven

Geru enjoy the long weekend and hopefully some reprieve from the heat.
Pearl is doing fine and just received her new car, paid for by the other party's insurance after the accident. She was lucky to have walked away from that with bruising only!

Sandy how wonderful of Charlie to do all this for you all over there! Your place is done/fixed up so quickly to when something needs doing. So happy for you Smile

It's almost lunch time and I'm still in my pj's ...that's what happens when you read half the night hahahaha.
Father's day here and Catherine invited me (via my ex) to go to her dad's for a barbeque lunch but I declined.
I know my ex enjoys my company these days but I draw the line here. I have to spend an evening with him when it's Catherine's graduation night in 2 weeks and that is enough.

Spring has officially started here on the 1st of September.

You could always lower the ironing board and get hubby to do the ironing Kerri.  Tell him he's not going to be allowed to sit around all day doing nothing, lol.  Love his heart.  Hope he heals quickly.

I must change that About Me page actually to update it.  You mentioning coffee shop gossip has given me an idea Geru.   We have a coffee morning in the big house every day where many residents and locals regularly pop in for tea and cakes.  I might start making the odd visit there so my face gets known and maybe get to know the odd person or two via that.

Yes, Sky is satelite tv, I get my tele, landline, mobile and wifi all through them. It's not just the tv programmes though. You can also rent films which are downloaded to your tv, buy dvds, catch up on any programmes you might have missed over the last few weeks and also download whole series all in one go (box sets). I wouldn't be without my Sky.

Yup, Charlie is an absolute boon.  A chap called Richard also came in for a few miniutes to help Charlie lift the tele onto the wall and bolt it to the bracket when it was at that stage.  Now Richard, I think, is the plumber.  I have known him, or rather seen him around the site, since I was here last time.  He has always waved or said hello as we have spotted each other but I had never known his name until the other day.  He's a very jolly chappie too.

Good to hear that Pearl is doing ok now Martha.

I'm not going to church meeting today.  I didn't wake up until 9am and by the time I have taken Louie out, come back and got ready in a rush, it makes it a chore rather than pleasure.  So instead I am going to potter doing the bits I need to do and then Aimee is going to pop in at what would be the time roughly I would get home from church to pick up Sarah's birthday present and card.

I still haven't heard a word from Sarah about this birthday weekend of hers so it's obvious she is still being funny because I haven't been crawling up her backside and am sticking to my guns of making her come to me, rather than me do all the running to keep our relationship active.  In the past she has made it quite clear she doesn't need me, or want me, around when she has a fella, so now if she wants to see me, she either has to come to me or invite me to hers.

She is very much like my Sister Pam whereby nothing is her fault, it's aways everybody elses.  I've text her a "Happy Birthday" message to show her that I have remembered her birthday and she will get her pressie from me when she gets back this afternoon from her night away, so I've pushed the onus on her for any fault that I haven't seen her physically on her special day.

If she wants to have a special tea or a meal out tonight with just her, Martyn and both their kids without me, then it's her choice.

I'm sorry to hear this about Sarah matie and I agree you have done everything possible from your end.
Next year no present for her ...that is what I would be thinking anyway.

Relaxing with the tv on and a quick check of the boards tonight.

Wow, men who walk out on wives and kids, and take all the money too.  Must be a special place in hell for them.  A lady in our vinyl group said she married a really nice man and has a little girl, but her parents told her growing up she was worth nothing and only good for spreading her legs and trading her for drugs. Wow...who tell a child that?  I felt soooooo sorry for her.

We spent a night out of town to attend a wedding of the tour agent who asks for Ken to be the bus driver of her tours and invites me.  She has had a few rough years, so she looked soooo happy. We were very happy for her.  Some friends stayed overnight too, so we hung out in the pretty yard they had there in the afternoon. It was nice and cool and quiet until the motorcycle club checked in.  Do they really have to rev them up like that??

The brides son is also engaged and so his in-laws to be were invited.  The mom was dressed nice, she had on a dress and heels.  But the dad, looked like he just got done cutting the grass...I kid you not.  Gray shirt and gray shorts. Wore his sunglasses on his head.  Ran around the church before the wedding like he was important. I thought he was the custodian at first.  Like really?  Your daughter is marrying into this family and you couldn't put on a pair of pants and a nice shirt?  Jeans would've been an improvement. LOL  Oh well....life moves on.

Tired today as we shopped yesterday after having breakfast with our friends. They headed home as he is in the middle of cancer treatments and it doesn't sound good to me. But we can hope.  I have the extra bedroom to clean up. I always make such a mess when I pack to go anywhere. Do any of you do that?  Then I have to clean it all up when I get home. Well the unpacking of course makes it look worse...but still..oh well..its worth it to travel.

Say a prayer for Texas, they need it.  God bless them.

Spring season has started here so it will warm up quick enough Smile

Had a busy day today and managed to get out the door by 8.30am this morning Sandy! Not bad after only 3 hours sleep hey!

There are also some wicked parents out there too Tara. Some stories one hears are horrendous.

This years Mayday Tara, 41,000 motor bikes went down to Hastings, which is my old town. It happens there every Mayday. The sea front and streets are full of them. It's an amazing sight to see.

THis video is from 2015

There is never any trouble, and no extra police are needed.

I would be sick in that heat too Marie.

You did well Martha. I hope you go a nice kip after your work though.

Another dull day here weather wise. I might break out the sewing machine today and finish the project I started over a year ago before moving in with Sarah.

I also started playing at a new board skin yesterday which I want to continue today.

Sarah loved her birthday present, so at least I did something right, lol.

Ha never did get that nap in yesterday Sandy but slept like a baby last night!

Had a full day of online information searching; filling out forms and more. Ready to sit back and put my feet up soon with perhaps some HJ for dinner.

We have a foggy day, and light overcast , sun is hidden so far and the sky is a weird color  , but we will see , 28c right now  , this is supposed to be the highest temperature day in this heatwave  . I can't wait for it to be over...last night was very uncomfortable as far as sleeping was concerned , way to hot for me .

There was a Fireball  Meteor landing in BC Canada last evening , lit up the whole sky , then exploded  with a big bang  ...hundreds of reports of being observed , I did not see it . I guess the hunt will be on   for fragments  , to see if the Fireball Meteor story was real ..   Just something else to help the fires along , oh dear .

Tara:  Sounds like a nice wedding , got a kick out of the guy running around like he was somebody.... in his shorts and gray shirt .... lol , I can just see it ...!!   And yes bikers just have to rev up their engines , it's their way of talking some times .... lol, specially at weddings

Martha:   Hope you got those feet up , and taking a rest from searching for info on the net , I spend way to much time doing that , never finding the right answer.

Sandy;   Gosh , those bikers look like they are taking over .... lol , so many .......but nice to hear there is no trouble  . Personally ..... I hate crowds .... but my niece rides a bike , and attends  things they put on , loves to get away and ride  and meet people I guess  .

Good luck with making the new skin , very time consuming  I hear . Glad Sarah liked her birthday present ,  time will tell .

See you later folks

Hello,
Very smoky where I live right now. There are about four wildfires around us and because we are in a valley it gathers here. My asthma is not good today. I cannot do anything outside. So I am here for awhile to chat. But I have to go do some more asthma treatments so I can breathe better. How is everyone else doing?

Thanks Geru Smile I had a good night and good sleep so feeling energetic this morning.

Oh wow that's not nice at all Beckea and people don't realise how badly fires or smoke affect people with asthma! Fingers crossed your breathing has improved and that those fires are under control soon.

Good morning peeps ... having my coffee while catching up on the boards before hopping in the shower and get ready to go into the city.

Glad you have caught up on your sleep martha. I couldn't get to sleep last night until nearly 5am and was stunned when I opened my eyes this morning, looked at the clock, only to see it was already 11am.

I would have loved to have seen that Meteor Geru. I've only ever seen really small ones flashing down quickly and burning up vertually as the just hit the atmosphere.

Yeah, It gets pretty packed on on Mayday there. On top of the bikers we also get several groups of Morris Dancers along with carnival floats. Mayday is big in Hastings.

Crickey! Stay safe Beckea. My eldest GD suffers badly with Asthma attacks occasionally. I would hate to have her have to survive the foul air of fires like that.

It's a really dull day again here so getting up late hasn't really affected my day because apart from Louie's walks I wouldn't leave the flat anyway. Will keep busy indoors me thinks.

We had a beautiful Spring day here and I walked and walked for almost 5 hours! Got all my paperwork sorted out and got great results Smile yayy finally.

I ended up with blisters on my heels ... bugger but a small price to pay overall.

Had a little snooze just after dinner so now still awake at almost 2 am lol.
Going to try and get to bed and hopefully sleep.

Good day everyone .   Our weather is changing slowly I believe  , the temps are down to 16c right now , but forecast up to 25c  , well that is better then 32c any day  . Sky is still strange looking dark  pinkish orange overcast with smoke haze , but will improve tomorrow so it says .

Nothing much new otherwise .... every day housework on the agenda, and a trip to the drugstore for seniors day savings , so I best not miss it .

Beckea:   hope that smoke situation lets up for you , many people get asthma attacks during this smoke situation, here too, I hear ambulances howling lots the last few days .  Take good care .   I notices I am coughing a lot with a scratchy feeling throat , bet it's from the smoke .

Martha:  A good nights sleep does wonders , I don't get half enough, stay up to late , need to change that ..... I keep saying that ... lol .

Ps, I just added  this , as our post's crossed  .   ....Ouch ... blisters on your heels ? Guess 5 hrs  ? was a bit to much to begin with, wow, have not walked a stretch like that in several years , my feet would not be able to take it  now . Hope things heal quickly.

Sandy:  I guess Louie keeps you busy taking him for walks , in a way that is good  for both of you . maybe .

. By the way... I saw that picture of your tricycle , how neat , love it , what a good safe way to get your stuff home .

OK, got to get out of here and get busy .

Hi All,

I had an asthma attack last night, I am supposed to be resting now. So I just wanted to say hello and check in.

Oh my goodness, Becky!
Hope you are doing better.
Get some rest and stay inside if you can.

Sandy,
I think it's a good sign that Sarah loved her present
and apparently let you know that she did.
Having your own spaces may be good for your relationship
in the end.
I live close to both of my daughters.
But I could NEVER live with them.

Martha,
Good for you for walking for 5 hours.
I walked for several hours at the Minnesota State Fair
but there was some resting in between
and unfortunately some naughty Fair food eaten by all of us.
So it is hardly the same, is it?  Haha

Geru,
Glad your temps outside are getting a little more
comfortable.

They were saying on the news that our Minnesota State Fair
had record attendance this year.

A story about it:
http://www.startribune.com/minnesota-state-fair-sets-another-attendance-record/442786333/

No wonder I was starting to feel
a little over-stimulated/anxious when the crowd started to thicken.

Hope everyone has a good rest of your day!
