Lovely sunny fall day , walk much enjoyed . Picked up my prescriptions , got my flu shot, then went to the optometrist again about my glasses .  Got in after a lengthy wait, and a very frustrating appointment with a new doctor  . I could write a book about that appointment, but ...won't . Came out with a new prescription for my reading glasses , now wait again till they send out for the replacement lenses .  Lets hope it works , I might need a separate prescription for computer reading , as to ordinary reading , do to the different distances . Yuk .

While there , I met the most demanding little old lady I have yet to meet . She was German , you could tell by her accent .  Sat next to me while waiting , and she asked to please move to the next chair over , so she could take up 2 seats .  ?    One for her, and one for her purse , believe it or not !!
I sat there in shock , just could not believe it .   I did not mind moving over , but she was demanding all sorts of things  from the receptionist , and pdq Pls . soon as possible , and this and that and that , who the heck did she think she was, the queen ???

I did not sleep well last night , could not get back to sleep. woke up at 3:00 am , took ages to get back to sleep, but finally did get in another hr .

have a good night all .

lol I'd have told her to move if she didn't like it. Cheeky madam!

I have vari-focals which are OK for most reading as well as distance but I have a separate pair for my computer because my others are terrible for on here.

I love that quote Sandy. lol

I'm doing laundry and a few other chores in between more phone calls. I need to groom the cat when I can be bothered but nothing very taxing to do today. I just need patience with morons who should never be allowed to answer a phone let alone for a major company.

My Doctor talked me into having a flu shot this year. She did it while I was there because she probably guessed I wouldn't drop into the nurse to do it. I'm not sure how much they go towards keeping flu at bay, but also it's the last innoculation left that has loads of mercury in which is one of the things that go towards altzheimers later on.

I'm the same as Wendy. A pair of varifocals and also a pair of reading glasses for the computer.

I forget where I picked up that quote, but I also particularly like it.

Some people are so amazingly rude Geru that it leaves one speechless.

I want to walk to the top of the road shops later and will take Louie with me to kill two birds with one stone. I wont be going in food shops so he can come in with me with the ones I do go in.

Hahahaha sorry I completely missed this post of yours Sandy. Honestly I was shocked to see Jessica Rowe; the short blond haired woman of the panel talk the way she did and declaring she's a feminist blah blah blah. Some double standards there already lol.

I would have to listen to a few more of his video's but I do like what this Milo stands for. He is so right about the media and journalists and good on him for so point blank saying that too.

Hello everyone...I am still alive, crafting and watching kids.  A new neighbor moved into the senior apt all around me. This latest one was a lady I had gone to school with my whole life.  One year below me, and being in a small school. She never married lived with her parents and her dad passed last year. She didn't like taking care of the house by herself. Anyway, I was going to bake some brownies and take them to her, before I could get to that she gave me a box of decorated Halloween cookies for my gran-girls. So nice of her. So i made her a centerpiece and I need to get it over there. So nice of her to think about us.
I love that quote by Frank Ocean.  I collect quotes and even have a few around my house.  I am going to add that one to my list.   My fav one:  You wouldn't worry about what others think about you id you knew how little they did.  LOL  I think that was a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt.

Crafting today, and shopping this evening when hubby gets home. I want a huge pkg of TP and paper towels so I don't have to mess with that when the Christmas shoppers start filling up the stores.  I went and did a little shopping last Saturday and it was soooo busy in that city.  I started thinking, I am one of those ladies I use to cuss under my breath, that they were retired and shouldn't be in my way on a Saturday when I can shop. LOL There I was being one of those ladies.  I rarely do go on Saturday because is it so busy.
I made some really cute centerpieces. I bought the styrofoam pumpkins from the Dollar Tree. Cut the top out the size of the cylinder glass I bought at the Dollar Tree.  Add a candle from the Dollar Tree inside the cylinder glass, a battery one.  Then you stick fall flowers into the styrofoam all around the glass.  They turned out so cute.  I also made a turkey with a kit from the Dollar Tree but I didn't use their things for the feathers, I used some loose fall leaves I bought there as well.

Lovely centre pieces Tara. I particularly like the bottom one.

I love the way you Americans take gifts to those newly moving in. We don't do that here. I wish we did as it's a great way of getting to know the neighbours.

I"m looking forward to Milo visiting both Australia and the UK. All of his talks will be posted on Youtube and some may possibly be live. I wonder what sort of reception he will get in both countries.

I've had news from my Cousin this evening. My Sister Penny is not going to make it. She may have only a couple of days left before she passes. She is spending the majority of the time in a deep sleep with very few waking moments and even then she isn't really aware of what is happening.

just dropping in

Tara:  love the quote  of Eleanore  Roosevelt 's you put down!  And love all your craft pictures , they are beautiful , you do such neat work .  How nice you met up again with an old school buddy , and made friend , life is good . And yes, from now on , shopping will be a challenge to beat the Christmas shoppers .... have fun .

Whisper:  about the demanding little old lady .... there were 3 empty seats , I took the middle one , purse on my lap. She came in sat beside me , then asked me to move on over , so she could have 2 chairs , one beside the other , one for her ,and one for her purse .  What gull I thought , I bet she is well off  for that purse to need a chair of it's own .   As she demanded  to get a certain taxi only, with a certain driver ,    pdq , making a point of giving her first name only , she must give a big tip .... lol , and want service accordingly .... lol

Sandy : yes, some people are so amazingly rude like you say, it leaves one speechless,  their attitude stinks grossly . It takes all kinds .

Martha:  had a look at the link you posted about Milo Yiannopoulos  . Never heard of him before , but he does seem like a witty, smart and funny person  , and I might like what he has to joke  and talk about alright , but .... he is sure not my type .... !!  Amen  enjoy his video's etc .

Have a nice day .

I've seen that quote before and it is funny and probably true as well. Lovely arrangements Tara.

I'd still have said no GERU. She'd probably have gone into shock.

Mum's house is empty apart from three very expensive and fairly new chairs (one of which is a motorized recliner) we haven't decided what to do with yet. Even the garage is empty and swept clean. The lads have done well although I noticed they left my sister-in-law to make the place spotless. I can't do any more calls or paperwork until people get back to me so just catching up on a few chores today. The heavens are about to open so I don't feel inspired to go anywhere I don't have to.

I"m hoping once I have had my (hopefully) last proceedure in just over a week, that I will then be able to go further away from a loo and get to look around the shops this year for Christmas. Last Christmas I was still virtually bedridden and feeling so very ill. So ill in fact that Sarah had to come in and sit with me while she looked up on the web presents I could buy for everyone and then order them. This Christmas will be totally different thank the Lord.

I don't think until after the funeral, sorting out possesions, and all the paperwork etc. is over that one can start to go through the mourning process properly. The brain seems to protect itself up until then and we are sort of numb.

I was invited to go to a Bible group this morning but I don't feel like being sociable until I hear from my Cousin Carol or the hospital regarding my Sister Penny. In fact I don't feel like doing anything today, so I'm just going to take each hour as it comes.

I"m going to force myself into the shower in a bit, and hopefully that will give me some incentive to start the day.

Beautiful sunny day here , but crisp and some wind, but all in all it made of good walking . Went to the Village for banking etc , and then walked the other way to the big food mart . and back , so got in a good walking .
Tomorrow  I will need to go there again , to pick of my darn glasses , now lets see what happens this time . . I do not have trifocals , I have single vision lenses , one for close up reading and one for 14feet away reading ( like my TV menu etc ) Can't handle the trifocals , they make me dizzy , I have tried them .  I now might need another pair for 2-3 feet reading on the computer screen .  What a pain !!

Sandy: hope all goes well with that proceedure next week , time to feel healthy again we hope .
Sorry to hear about your sister now ,  so sad, but by the sounds of it , she sleeps most of the time and is not aware was is going on ,Don't blame you for not feeling social , right now you are in shock or numb sort of . Or maybe you have known for some time this was going to happens soon ?  Take good care .  Which one did you get Sandy ?

Ps.  about this years flu shot here , it contains 4 strains .... one is a new strain . But get this , the Government won't pay for that shot for anyone .you pay your own if you want that shot . What I got was the free one , it contains 3 strains only .

See you later .

My Sister Penny passed away yesterday morning just after 11am. My Sarah and Aimee are going to go over to Kent in a few days to organise the funeral and sort out Penny's stuff. It's something that I just can't cope with at this time.

The flu shot I had this year has the four strains which is why my Doctor really wanted me to have it. We are lucky here in the UK to have National Insurance.

I'm a bit peed off because I can't go to Battle this year for Guy Fawkes Night next week. I wouldn't be able to make the journey nor all the standing for the event in the evening. I obviously didn't go last year either. Seems the Hotels are booked solid over there now, but my family did manage to get rooms as they booked a while ago.

I am feeling a bit lethargic at the moment, which I suppose is understandable, what with Penny passing and all my hospital appointments so close. But get the next couple of weeks over with and I should be perked up enough for Christmas and have enthusiasm for Christmas shopping.

I'm sorry about your sister Sandy. It's good that the girls are going to sort out the arrangements for you. You have enough on your plate with your own health. Hopefully that will improve soon and Christmas will be a much more cheerful time for you. You're right about the brain protecting you from the full force of grief while there are still so many things to do. It catches me out now and again in quiet moments but mostly I've stayed focused on the practical things so far.

I went and did a bit of shopping at a local place this morning since I didn't need much and didn't need to get the brands mum insisted on for some of her stuff. Found a few bits and bobs that will make a change this week for meals but the place isn't really big enough to get everything I normally want.

You have my condolences Sandy. I know what it's like from when my sister passed last year. My younger sister is the executor of the will & she's been extremely busy with that ever since. I hope all things of that nature go very smoothly for you and your family ♥️

Aw sorry to hear Penny passed Sandy; my condolences to you and the family.

Amazing how quick that year has gone when you think about it Sandy. And also how many things have changed for you in that year! Hopefully after those procedures a new, better year will be ahead of you Smile

So many people who had the flu shot here have been sick all winter! My neighbour being one of them and she's still not 100%. We've had a flu epidemic here so what does that tell you.
I refuse to have the flu shot and noticed it was mentioned in my health summary hahaha.
Seeing as I react to so many things it would be risky for me to consider the flu shot.

I am totally with you on that flu shot business Martha. I have way too many allergies to even consider it. I've never even had the childhood vaccines that everyone's had. My mom was careful♥️

Thanks all for the condolences.

Well, as you know I really wasn't sure about having the flu shot, but as I know, in the short term, it doesn't affect me, and I do know a belter of a strain is on it's way this year, I gave in.  It's never guaranteed to stop one getting flu but it does reduce the risk of it being a killer.

Yeah Martha, I have to agree with you.  This year has flown by.  It seems to have been one of the 7 year periods of life where ones life starts to change.  Although my 7th year doesn't officially start until next week.  Maybe this year has just been, so far, the lead up to that 7th year of mine.

We shall see what happens next year.  Good things could well be on the horizon.  This last 7 years of mine haven't been particularly good ones.  In fact they have been the most unhappiest of my life.

Maybe this last year is the last year of that 7 year period that's going to be shitty.   I'm due for a change for the better, lol.

Fingers crossed a lucky seven years is about to begin for you Sandy. I don't have the 'flu shot. My immune system is permanently in overdrive as it is and I haven't had a cold or 'flu since 1986 so I figure it's not worth the risk. The nasty bug I think I picked up on that flight home is the first time a bug has got through my defences for years. Must have been a sneaky one. lol

It's a miserable grey day here but I have no plans for the day so I'm not too bothered. I need to sort out my house insurance and do a few chores but apart from that I'm hoping for a quiet couple of days.

I was reading up on those flu shots and read that they are not given to really stop people from getting the flu but that it was more so that the virus would not spread as fast. And as much as they promote it to be a must have for the sick and elderly, the fact is that the flu shot does not work as good for the sick or immune compromised people as it does for the healthy people! Then there is the mercury bit that really riles me so no thanks; I won't have that injected into my body!

Wendy I'm the same and can't remember when the last time was I had the flu. I do take extra precautions when the flu is rampant and try and stay away from the sick people.

Tara what a lovely table pieces you've made Smile

I deliberately went to bed late last night meaning to have a really long lay in this morning, but was woken by a text from my Cousin Carol at 8am. Goodness knows why she sent it so early. To top it all she could have sent it directly to Sarah as it's Sarah that needs the information and not me. I am now waiting for a more reasonable time to pass it on to Sarah.

Our clocks went back last night. As usual I forgot about that.

I'm thinking here about whether to do an online shop today or just nip to the top of the road to get the bits I need for today and tomorrow. I seem to spend so much more than I need to when shopping on line.

I didn't go to church this morning. I really didn't feel like it. So just lounging around doing bits inbetween reading news and stories on the web.

I went to bed at my normal time but had turned all the clocks back so I wouldn't be confused this morning. I was hoping to get that extra hour's sleep but for some reason I couldn't drift off for hours which is rare so I was a bit miffed. I got less sleep than I would normally on a weekend.

Got some unexpected visitors this morning too which I'm not best pleased about but I suppose I better get off here and be nice. lol

Morning all. It's a bright and frosty morning here. Quiet in here yesterday.

Back to boring housework for me this morning and then lunch with family later. Still waiting to hear back from some people before I can complete mum's paperwork but I've stopped stressing about it. It will get completed when it does.

I have absolutely no plans today. I will do a bit around the flat to keep it reasonable. Take the dog for a walk of course. Watch a couple of Christmas films. Other than that I haven't thought further.

Unless something exciting happens it's going to be a same ole, same ole, day me thinks.

I've had one of those same ole same ole days today. Very boring but I needed it that way after a busy weekend. The weather here has been beautiful. The Fall colours are still popping and Vancouver looks very lush. I've seen lots of home completely decked out in Halloween regalia.
I don't trust flu shots either Martha
Other than that, I've nothing exciting to tell you about!  Smile

Oh thanks for mentioning about the clocks being pushed back an hour! Same for Holland so must remember that next time I call my mum.

I've had a lazy Sunday and finished reading my book so yesterday, after my busy morning schedule I downloaded a few more books so when I'm in need of some lazy down time they are there.

Beautiful sunny day here so must go outside and tidy the gardens and fill up the bins as it's bin day tomorrow. I put the bins out the night before as they come way to early lol.

Doing a small load of delicates and my dishes are soaking while I'm catching up here with a cuppa Smile

Tomorrow is the last day of October - can you believe it? Wow, I cannot!

Here to say hello. It has been awhile. I have been busy doing some themes for the coming holidays for me and for some friends of mine. Stuck on images since I cannot access anything from the gallery from yuku. They locked me out. Also, Photobucket is not working for me. I have until the end of the year to get all my images from there. But my computer needs to be cleaned up and I need to get some folders started for the images.

Anyway, hope everyone is doing great. How are you, Sandy? Are you busy setting up the house?
