I'm getting so good remembering to start a new monthly chat.

Why are you having the palm trees cut down Martha?  Have they grown too big or something?

I suppose I really should now start making lists of pressies that people might want for Christmas.  I have no idea of what Sarah's fella Martyn likes nor his son Jake who will be with us for Christmas.

I must also look at my bank accounts and work out how much I can afford to spend.

Argh!! Don't mention that word until at least December. My brain is fried already.

Boring day coming up. Laundry to do and a few other chores but not much else other than checking what has gone in and out of mum's bank account. I wish people would get sorted so I can finish with all that and close the account.

Thank goodness that Halloween is over with , now just clean up the mess on the streets !!
Went to the Village yesterday to watch all the commotion .  I swear , the adults are the ones having a grand time getting dressed up  . One couple came dressed in ruby red long robes and gold crowns and the children dressed as Princesses and princes .   There was music and entertainment too , hot dogs and pizza and candy everywhere .   It was kind of to much for me to go watch , glad to get home.

Had a bad nights sleep , getting to be way to much of that , am pooped all the time lately .

Have a wonderful Birthday today Sandy .... and leave some cake for me .... lol .

Sandy yes the trees are getting too big and 1 is way to close to the house/unit! No idea who planted that one so close but whomever did is a bloody idiot lol.
The other one is a bit further from the house but so close to the side fence that the branches that snapped in the last storm are overhanging the foot path that goes to another unit. Those branches are dangerous and sharp so a hazard.

With those trees gone I will need to think of something else to shade the plants in summer. Planting sun hardy plants of course but still, some just shrivel in the 40C heat.
I've got some Frangipanies in pots that I could put in the ground and the leaves will shelter smaller plants so that is one way of going about it.

I also will have extra space to expand the outdoor sitting area, with the tree gone close to the house and might be able to get a small gazebo for that. All just things going around in my mind lol.

In my mind is as far as a lot of things ever get these days. lol I miss  my garden but I don't miss the amount of hard work it entailed.

A chilly but sunny day again today. I'm working up the enthusiasm to go and get the bedding out of the washing machine and do a bit of ironing. I'm having trouble this week motivating myself to even move let alone get anything useful done.

People don't think of the roots of trees either spreading under the house foundations if planted too near the house either.

When I had a garden I kept it all lawn except for a small rock garden on the side at the back. So easy to keep tidy with hardly any work needed.

As I said on the side, I had hospital this morning for my pre-admission examination and tests for next Thursday. I think I've managed to get them to allow me to leave on the same day as long as all goes ok.

Jess came with me to the hospital and afterwards we met up with the rest of the family including Martyn and Jessie's fella Adam for a nice pub lunch. It was the first time that I had met Adam. Liked him instantly and he fits in well. From there we went to DFS for us to look at some sofas. They have a half price sale on at the moment. I didn't buy but have come home with measurements of a couple styles I particularly like. I need to have a good think about actually spending out good money on them though.

It's been a really good day having all the family (plus) together on an out and about.

Glad Adam fits in well. It can be awkward when you take a dislike to someone they think is wonderful.

I went grocery shopping early this morning since it's taking twice as long at the moment. Roadworks are causing chaos in the centre of town and there isn't an alternative route to the supermarket. They've been there for months and just getting worse every week. Supposed to be there until next year too so people are not happy.

My daughter and her partner are coming tomorrow for an overnight stay so I'm hoping for a nice quiet afternoon today in preparation.

Fingers crossed all goes well next week Sandy and they let you home.

Our main town of Christchurch is like that every morning and evening and most of the day. There is only one road into the town and one road out and all traffic from Hampshire through Dorset has to go through the town to get to the other side.

This is why that even though I live on the edge of Dorset it's quicker to go over to the nearest town in Hampshire than it is to shop in Christchurch proper. Not that I go to either very often.

I've had another good day today. Aimee came over early and we went to look at Harvey's Furniture shop and I found the perfect sofas for me. Mind you I don't know how I managed to control my bladder long enough to find them and then put the order in. It was a mad dash to a loo once it was all over.

We've got road works going on not far from me and this one is building a new bridge to go over the railway line. No idea how long that will take but the traffic build up around the traffic lights is a nightmare in the peak hours. I try and go around another way when I go to Catherine's house.

Another beautiful sunny and warm day here so I better get my bedding in the washing machine and on the line to hopefully get dry before they start the next burn of.

I need to go and find a small 2 seater sofa too Sandy but right now need all the $$ for the AC install.

Well, how I have been able to get my sofas a lot sooner than I thought I would was because every month I send to my savings account £50 by standing order to save for any big things I might want to buy.  But I found out that most furniture shops now are doing interest free credit.

So I thought rather than keep saving £50 a month I would go and get the sofas on credit which costs £25 a month over 2 years, then change the standing order to £25 a month instead of £50.

That way I am no worse off a month, as it's the same money being saved for the sofas but I can have them a year earlier.  I wont even notice paying for them.

At the end of a year I will have already paid off half the sofas and also have the other half in the savings account to pay off the rest in one go.

Sounds like a win win solution Sandy. A lot of furniture stores do interest free credit these days. Unlike buying a car or something where they charge an arm and a leg for credit.

The AC is definitely more important for you Martha with the summer temps you get.

Just had a cry for help from my neighbours. They're moving out today and had gone and packed all the kitchen stuff. Five coffees and three soft drinks for the kids required. lol

My daughter and partner are moving the last three armchairs from mum's when they get here so it's all go today.

When I moved I always left a box free at the end to pack up all the makings for tea and coffee etc at the very last moment.  Then that came with me in the car and is the first thing into the new place.  Kettle is then hot before the men have even got the first thing unloaded from the van.

Yeah, even the salesman thought it was a terrific way to save as you buy and get the goods early.  But of course that only works if you already have a saving strategy in place for big things as I have.

I think I already have enough in savings as well to buy the table I want, but can't buy that until after the sofas are delivered and insitu so I can do a measure up for space.  So that will be after Christmas before ordering the table if at all. Moving back here to this flat drained my saving at the time, so will have to check my bank account.

I'm so pleased because I thought I'd have to wait ages before changing the furniture.

That is a pretty good deal indeed Sandy Smile

I've kept the 2 recliner chairs from my lounge suite as I do like those but it is cramped in my little lounge room that's for sure with that big 2 1/2 seater couch. I looked at other chairs but it's so damn expensive so I keep looking through the local ads for 2nd hand ones.

I've got a new lady moving in 2 doors from me and she said she has nothing, furniture wise and will be buying a bed first and then go from there. I think she is Malaysian and her English is not that good.

Going to see if she's got a portable ac and if not she might want to buy mine lol.

I looked through the ads for second hand sofas first. Unfortunately I simply couldn't find any small enough. I had to give up and then start looking for as cheap as possible new.

What I ended up paying out for new wasn't much more than our second hand shops down here sell suites for. One charity shop in my own high street was asking £300 for a 3 seater sofa. The charity shops are getting far too greedy considering that they get the stuff for nothing. They may be selling stuff to get money to give to their charity but they seem to forget that people that buy second hand are also poor. If they weren't they wouldn't be buying second hand.

I've started doing some more sorting out, throwing away and organising again.  I thought if I do a little bit every day I might finally be totally organised before Christmas.

1) For a start lack of a linen cupboard is doing my head in.
2) Nowhere to store any tools of any kind.
3) No place for a hoover
4) Under the bed is full of boxes that have stuff in that needs it's own place.
5) Do I really need all the clothes I have and hardly wear?

And the list goes on.

So I really do need to pick each item up in turn and ask myself, "Do I really need it and where am I going to put it as a permanent place if I keep it"

I just sorted out my clothes and filled up a big bag and that has gone to the op shops now.

Need to sort through my kitchen cupboards as I have so much in there that I no longer use.

Ones the AC has been installed I will also go through my little storage shed and sort out the mess in there and see what can go. That shed is shocka block full at the moment and I know there is stuff in there I no longer need or use so that can go too.

You know, I always thought I had whittled my stuff down to the barest minimum since living in the caravan and then in these flats, but when I go into other people's homes here, they have less storage than I and everything they do have tucked away nicely.  So I obviously must have too much still.

Although the next door to me, Brenda2, seems to be like me.  The only difference is she has everything she owns rammed into her bedroom area, which she tells me she really does need to, and want to, sort out.

These places are perfect except when they built them they didn't expect you to own anything.

Yesterday I sorted out a better place for my linen, although I have got that down to a minimum with 2 changes of bedding clean and one on the bed.  2 bath towels. 3 hand towels and a dozen tea cloths, along with a couple of table cloths.  There is no way I can cut down on that anymore.

I think today I will sort out the two boxes of tools I have and decide what to keep and what to get rid of.  Now that I have Charlie and the other chaps on site I can at least get rid of all my painting and decorating bits that I have.  I wont ever need to do any of that again myself.

I should just need to keep the odd screwdriver, hammer, allen keys, and bits like that.  I will have to keep all my bike stuff and also my staple gun.  But can get rid of my jars of screws and goodness knows what else of that sort that I haven't used for a while.

I've got a hospital appointment late this afternoon, to see my bowel consultant.  I expect him to sign me off for that one now.  Although he might want me to have a final cat scan before he does.  Aimee is driving me to that one.  Then that will be 2 down and one more to go on Thursday into Friday for my bladder and kidneys.  Woo Hoo, almost over.  Fingers crossed that will also be the last I see of that department as well.

It's a really beautiful, sunny, crisp and very cold day here for me.  The grass looks as if fairy dust has been sprinkled over it with all the frost.

Good luck with the appointments Sandy. I hope you get signed off them all by the end of the week.

I always packed the kettle and stuff last too. Priorities and all that. lol

I now have an extra three armchairs, including a recliner, in my lounge so it's a bit crowded. One I'm keeping and the other two are going to my niece's as soon as she can borrow her dad's van.

Still ploughing through paperwork which is beginning to do my head in. The contents insurers want a covering letter, all my details and a death certificate before they'll cancel the policy. Not a problem just more hassle especially since they auto renewed her policy the day after she'd died. I never auto renew anything but they obviously managed to persuade mum to do it that way. Oh well the end is in sight. Just gas, electricity and water to sort out now. I think.

Dear oh dear oh dear. Just had a phone call from the hospital to tell me my results showed a bladder infection so they have faxed an urgent prescription through to doctor and from there electonically to the chemist. I've now got to rush over and collect that to start today before they will do the bladder and kidney proceedure on Thursday. They want me to get as many doses of antibiotics down me before then as I can.

It's all so much trouble.

Good luck with finishing off all that hassle Wendy. I don't envy you one bit.

I'm always amazed at how much sh*t that paperwork is when you consider how quick they sign you up for those insurances Wendy. Good luck with the last bits though and fingers crossed it will all be over and done with soon!

Oh bugger Sandy! Hopefully that infection won't stop things now. Drink lots of water and perhaps some cranberry juice to help flush out that infection.

I can't sleep as I got bad news from a friend. Her son was in an outdoor, charity fundraising event and there was an incident and he is now in ICU in a coma with, from what I've been told, a snapped spinal cord! Will call her again tomorrow as this happened last weekend but she was too distraught to call anyone before today as the docs weren't sure he would pull through.
Must try and make some time this week and go and visit her or go with her to the hospital.
Damn ... we've know each other for so many years and her son spend a lot of time at my house. He's 1 year younger then my Natasja.

Oh shit Martha. I'm so very sorry to hear this. The poor, poor man. Oh my God! that's awful.

I've just got back from the hospital. I've not actually been totally signed off with the bowel consultant but I don't need any more recalling in for appointments.  Instead I have his secretary's number to make a direct appointment with him if I have any problems without having to going through my Doctor first.  He said all the time I feel happy with how I feel then there is no reason to think about any operation for now.

But, I was chatting to the woman in the chemist earlier and she had to have her stents in and out for 5 years, would you believe.   I thought a year was bloody long enough.  But, I have to keep being optimistic for Thursday.

I will take your advice on the fluid intake.

Fingers crossed they'll go ahead on Thursday Sandy. It's been a long wait. Five years must have been a nightmare!

That's awful Martha. Goes to show there's always someone worse off. The poor guy and no wonder his mother is in such a state. Horrendous to think about even when you don't know the person. I hope the outcome is more positive than they fear right now.

Well, she said she only had a small one that they needed to take in and out without anesthetic so she said it didn't really affect her daily life.  But for me it was a shock to hear that they can/do leave some stents in for that long.  It obviously made me think that perhaps I am being too optimistic expecting mine out for good on Thursday.  Although it is a different kind of stent and for a different reason that she had one.  So maybe I will come out with good news.

It's absolutely falling out of the sky today.  So much so that Louie took one look outside the door this morning and pulled to go back in the flat.  So I'm allowing him puppy pads down today in the bathroom when he needs to go.

He is now enjoying chewing one of his toys to try to tear the squeeker out.  He has already broken the actual squeeker but it's still stitched in the skunk toy.  Well, I think it's a skunk.  It's nothing like any animal we have in this country and it is black and white.  Do skunks have long tails?

I now have to do a shop on line to be delivered for tomorrow so that there are some food and goodies here for Jess when she comes to stay with Louie Thursday and Friday.  Trouble is the cowbag wont tell me what she wants.  When I ask I just get from her "Surprise me".

Jeez!  It's just got so dark outside as I am typing this. It's only 1pm.  It looks like we are about to get another deluge.
