We're not really celebrating Christmas this year. We don't even have a tree up. I'll make some kind of dinner and maybe a pie or cookies or both.
It's a lazy Saturday here, & probably Sunday won't be much different Smile

I've never heard of Gab Sandy but then again I don't use Twitter or Facebook either so it's not really of much interest to me.

Nice that Sarah seems to have come around and the girls are being more respectful too. Maybe now you're not there all the time they're realizing how much you did for them when you were. Long may their new attitudes continue.

It's raining and breezy here today. Supposed to be a good ten degrees warmer than of late but it's hard to say yet because the temp dropped so low last night.

I'm not celebrating either Elaine. My mob are visiting next Saturday but I'm staying home and being a grinch on the actual day.

You know I've had a look at Gab Sandy but to be honest .. I can't be bothered to try out yet another app. This one seems to be the total opposite from Twitter's policies which has me questioning their motives as well.

I'm over all the political crap from both left and right.

Sorry not being properly online on boards at the moment as I need to focus my attention elsewhere.
Besides that and it being very stormy here I will give tonight a miss and just sit back and read my book with besides me a block of dark chocolate LOL.

Yes, you have a lot on your plate at the moment Martha with your Mum. I"m thinking of you all.

Chocolate sounds good, lol.

Yes, Wendy it is nice that Sarah has come around. I was also able to catch up with all that's been going on with her these last months as she was very chatty. I was beginning to think I was going to lose this battle. I'm now very much looking forward to spending Christmas there. I can't believe that's only a week away now.

She has a new job to start in January working for a veterinary surgery. Her present job wants to have a chat with her tomorrow. She gave her notice in this week just gone. I suspect they are going to offer her more money to stay again. Her knowledge and experience with medications is very valuable, which is also how she got the new job. Normally they would only employ a veterinary nurse for the position, or at least a training vet nurse, but because of Sarah's experience and knowledge they are sure she will easliy be able to go from the human to the animal side of medical care. She is quite excited about it.

I wouldn't be surprised if she starts taking more courses and exams to gain even more knowledge, only this time in the field of veterinary ailments and meds. That girl just loves to learn and get certificates under her belt. She's fast coming up to 50 now, but she still has plenty more working years left.

Today I am 100% wrapping presents, if it kills me. I already have it all laid out on the floor ready. Now I have to sit looking at it all until I make a start on it. I will put a nice Christmas film on the tele and have that in the background as I am working.

I got up way too early this morning. I started thinking about finances. BIG mistake when you are trying to get more shut-eye  Laughing
I thought of a few items I need to get at Bulk Barn & Walmart while Roomie has nothing better to do than to drive me around  tongue. Still, it should be an easy day & I can take a nap later. The best thing about being low on cash is that there's not much running around to do. I'm hoping my fave veggie market won't be closing for the holidays since I will definitely need to refill the fridge by then. Please please please be open on Saturday! if not I can always get a few items at Walmart to tide me over. Everything else is good here, no drama.
Have a gorgeous Sunday & Monday ♥️

Stopping by to say Happy Holidays
and Merry Christmas to everyone.

We went to one of the churches that
I take my granddaughters to for family Christmas ornament making night.
(On Friday night)
They wrapped up ornaments for loved ones
after we got home.

I helped my youngest granddaughter put together
a gingerbread house.
It was a kit that came with the frosting and the pretty candies.
There was some licking frosting off the fingers
on her part. It all made her happy so it made me happy.

My father's wife sent me a very interesting book
for Christmas about Martin Luther and his life and upbringing.
Fascinating reading.

Hope everyone is well.
My best to all.

I too found Martin Luther's life fascinating.  A very brave man for those days.  They now call his Ninety-five Theses  The first memo ever written, lol.  Halloween - 31st October, is the anniversary of him posting it, which I find very apt in as much as it being the night that gave birth to the protesant reformation.  This year was the 500 year anniversary.

You also might be interested in the story of Henry V111's Great Bible which came shortly after.  Because prior to that, under Catholic rule, it was a death sentence to even own a page of the Bible.  Creating and distributing that was Henry giving the finger to the Pope, as well as creating the Church of England and making himself head of it.

I finally got half of the presents wrapped yesterday and have the other half still in a pile on the floor with wrapping paper, scissors and selotape all sitting ready.

But shower and a bit of breakfast first me thinks.

Just for fun I thought I would post this image of the Lord's Prayer from the Great Bible of 1539.  I have this as a photo on my fridge.

Good luck with the market Elaine. I hope it stays open for you.

Nice to see you Kerri. Still busy with those granddaughters. She wouldn't be normal if some of the frosting didn't end up in her mouth. lol

Best of luck to Sarah. Has she considered actually training as a vet nurse?

Keeping your mum and all of you in my thoughts Martha.

Back to frosty and sunny this morning. Very cold but much nicer than yesterday's wind and rain. I walked along to the post office and with a warm coat it's quite pleasant out there. Our usual Monday lunchtime get together later and then we'll be missing another two weeks as Christmas and New Year's Day are both Mondays. Better get my hair trimmed today. lol

Goodness me.  I can't believe I haven't posted on my own board for two days.

I have no idea if she will do anything about training as a vet nurse Wendy.  I suppose it would depend on how long it takes to train and whether she finds the job interesting enough to do that.

I had a busy day yesterday Barbara and Gary decided to visit early afternoon, and shortly after they had gone Aimee and Jess turned up for a visit.  Not that I'm complaining, I love to get visitors.

It must be nice having weekly lunchtime get togethers.

Today I have spent playing at creating a web page from absolute scratch with no set coding at all.  Was pretty easy once I twigged on how it was done.

I"m now going to settle down to watching a bit of tele with the dog tucked up tight beside me.

Fingers crossed the market will be open Elaine. Surely they will as it would mean lots of last time customers.

Kerri your grand daughters are lucky to have you Smile

Good on Sarah for keeping to improve herself Sandy. Being a vets nurse is not easy and from what I remember from my cousin; a pretty tough course to do.

I've had my hair done yesterday too Wendy and it always feels so nice to look a bit better Smile

Emergency call outs for me the last few days and it resulted in 2 people being taken to hospital.

One was one of my elderly neighbours and the poor woman had a fall and she wanted to just get picked up and helped into her chair. Her daughter was called and she insisted I help her lift her mum but I refused and told her I seriously believed she had done damage to her hip.
Daughter was not impressed with my refusal ... anyway to cut a long story short ... her mum ended up in the ambulance (that I called) and she is now in hospital with a broken hip! She is 95y old so don't know how this will pan out for the poor woman.

The other one sadly was a person trying to commit suicide and I stayed with him till the ambulance and police arrived. When someone threatens to do this they always send the police first to assess any danger for the ambo officers. This man too was taken to hospital and I hope this time he receives the help he needs.

Never a dull day for me is there lol.

Thank goodness you were there to stop her getting her Mother to her feet.  Honestly, some people are so bloody stupid.

I've had the experience of stopping someone commiting suicide once via telephone.  It was a woman that found out her husband was out that night with another woman.  Trouble is you never know how serious they are or if they just need someone to talk to and get it out of their system.

I'm just off to bed.  It's midnight and if I don't go soon it will probably end up being one of those nights I'm up until 3am.

What a dramatic life you lead Martha! Lucky people to have you there to help both of them.

Yes our get togethers are nice Sandy especially when I get a haircut thrown in too when needed. We're still getting used to mum not being there but it's great to catch up.

We went from snow to hard frosts and sunshine to thick fog and drizzle. Today is the last one although the fog wasn't as thick this morning. The temps are higher but it doesn't feel like it. That damp gets into my old bones.

Well done on the web page Sandy. I made one years ago but never used it. Just did it for fun. I wouldn't have the patience these days.

Merry Christmas, Everyone.

I went to my granddaughter's Christmas concert last night.
It was looong. But they were excited that a lot of us came to watch
and support them.
They are one of the schools here that still supports
music in the schools.
My husband loves that, as he was a professional horn player
for most of his life. (While doing other things to make a living.)

Took my husband to his wound care specialist today.
The ulcer on his foot (he's had two surgeries)
still is not healed up. He makes progress and then has setbacks.
He is still in a wheel chair
and my feeling now is that he will be in a wheelchair
from now on, for the most part.
He also has lymphedema or lymphatic edema.
They are talking about doing an artificial graft
for the wound in his heel.
And he will be issued a pump for his edema in his legs.
Diabetes has caused most of his problems.

Wendy,
One of daughters has a licence to cut and style and color hair
and she is very good at it.
Sometimes I ask her to cut my hair.
Sometimes I don't. I don't want to take advantage
as she has so many friends who always want her
to cut and foil their hair, trim their eyebrows, etc.
I just have an easy cut, as I work long hours.
I always think anyone can cut my hair at one of the cheap places.

Oh my, Martha.
Bless you for helping people!

Sandy,
I was not raised a Lutheran, so I knew little
about Martin Luther. A brave man indeed.
I think I would find reading about Henry the VIII's Great Bible.
I have read much about him and his wives.
But really don't know that much about the new church.

Merry Christmas, Everyone!

I've always done emergency call outs for people who need help so this is just my way of helping/nursing as best as I can Smile

Had mum's results and posted those on my board. Sorry but just not in the mood to type it all again as I am exhausted from the overnight calls with all my siblings.

I'm going to dig in the garden dirt for a while to get a clear head and then rest some. After that no idea so take it as it comes ...

I remember those concerts Kerri. lol I hope the ulcer heals without your husband having to go through a skin graft. My mum had foot problems and my eldest brother has too. Both connected to their diabetes.

My sister had her own salon for twenty years but finally gave it up a couple of years ago. She just does a few elderly clients who didn't want to find somebody new and family and close friends now. She says it keeps her hand in and I pay her. Mate's rates it's true but it's a bit of extra cash for her.

For the moment I have just made a very simple webpage which you can see by clicking on About Me in the top of the board menu. But when I have time for another play I want to make a more fancy one.

I used to love going to the kid's school concerts and shows @Kerri . Another thing I miss is the pantomimes we took the kids to. They grow up so bloody fast.

Crying shame about your hubby. I wish him well.

Your Sister must save you a fortune Wendy. As well as having the pleasure of her company.

I'm off to your's in a tick Martha to read about your Mum.

Jess came unexpectedly yesterday as she had a day off. Her, Louie and myself first went off to take Louie to have his anal glands cleaned and his claws clipped, then from there we went along to McDonalds and had that sitting in the car, and then on to Pets at Home for a look around and so see if I might need something for Louie.

I am confused today because I am/was meant to have some fold down chairs delivered today. But at 3:15pm yesterday I received a text from Ikea saying sorry for the inconvenience but they wont be delivered now until the 27th. Then last night at about 8pm I received an email from the carrier company to say they are delivering them today. Now I haven't a clue if they are coming or not.

I get so angry at incompetance like this. If they don't come until the 27th, then supposing I would have needed them for extra Christmas seating. But if they are coming today, I can't leave the flat in case I miss the delivery. As if happens the only time I planned to leave the flat was to nip to the dining hall to pick up my lunch/dinner.

Oh wow that would really infuriate me too Sandy! What I've done is put a small note on my door telling the couriers to leave the parcel with my neighbours if I'm not home. Saves me from having to chase them lol.

I'm feeling a lot calmer this morning so the work outside has done the trick again.

How lovely of Jess to drop in like that Smile

I left a note on the outside door for Parcel Force while I went to get my lunch. About an hour later the Parcel Force pulled up and came into the building with a very large package (Fold down chairs?) and a smaller one.

I opened my door ready but bugger me, both packages were for upstairs. Obviously Ikea hadn't dispatched the chairs and they will be delivered on the 27th. Well, that's what I'm assuming. I still haven't got proper confirmation of when they are coming.

I'd mentioned the day before to Aimee that I needed to get Louie over to their way for his bum and claws to be done and also to get to Pets at Home. Unfortunately she was going to be working the following day, but seemingly she went home and told Jess, so Jess came over instead as she had the day off.

Sarah had asked me if I could get Louie a muzzle to wear just for a short while so that he could get used to the cats being in the same room as him, without having any fur flying.

I bought a very soft material muzzle, and have been putting it on and off of him so that he could get used to it and not think of it as a punishment. I shouldn't have worried. The dappy dog thinks it's a new dressing up piece of clothing and lolls there as I put it on. Last night on the 3rd time of putting it on him for a handfull of minutes he was excitedly trying to stuff his own face in it and then when it was on he flopped and dozed off. I suppose that just shows how much he trusts us that anything that is done to him all part of a game. I just think he's a dipshite, lol.

Cleaning the flat thoroughly today so all I have to do tomorrow is pack a bag and sort myself out before Sarah picks me up about 4'ish after work.
