Well it's raining and sleeting this morning. Snow on high ground but it will probably miss us here apart from a few flurries. It's blowing a gale and freezing though. Very depressing.

I'm very similar when I'm in the black hole Sandy. I just want to be left alone until I drag myself out of it. I hope you feel better soon and the sun starts to shine.

Amazing news about your cousin and your dad. Do you intend to have any contact with either of them?

Nothing much happening here. I'm off to my brother's later. He's the eldest of my siblings and will turn 70 on Sunday. Hell we're all getting old!

Well Martha matie, as it happens I was woken this morning by the postman hammering on my door to hand me a package from Australia, lol.

I love it. It's now the prettiest scarf/shawl I have in my collection.  I adore the colours because as you know red is my absolute favourite colour.  In fact it's even too beautiful to keep for best, because if I did that it would hardly be brought out and it is something that I want to wear often.  Thank you so very much, I'm thrilled with it.

The added lapel badge in the package made me chuckle.  I can add that to my collection of them that I have on my hat.  I've got quite a collection of them now.

I don't mind at all keeping in touch with Trevor if he wants to Wendy, or any of the other Woontons that might find me and/or get in touch, but I want nothing to do with my Father.  Both Ted and Trevors Father Wally, along with the third Brother Charlie were all cut from the same cloth and it seems that Trevor hates his Father, I would say as much as I hate mine, but I try to not have any emotions regarding Ted and instead just accept the knowledge of him being my biological Father and know him for what he is.  As Trevor politely put it to me "They were all sods".

I've got an idea that Trevor has as much of a story to tell as I have regarding those Woonton men.  But at the moment because we don't really know each other we are only feeding each other little snippets of what we each know.  Trevor is on his own personal quest at the moment and I have helped him as much as I can simply with facts and dates that I know.  Maybe there might come a time when we share stories or it might be that I will now never hear from him again.  I might just be an end to a means for him.  We shall see.

Today it's peeing down, and it was a rough night weather wise.  So I'm going to force myself to get washed and dressed, do a little housework and then spend the day reading and watching tele.

Yayy Laughing so glad the parcel arrived Sandy! I figured you get a chuckle out of the added lapel badge hahaha and that one was a long time coming as we talked about that years ago and then somehow I kept forgetting to put it in a parcel to you. I know you will get a lot out of the scarf/shawl and the cashmere makes it feel so soft.

I think I would react the same if that was about my father Sandy and good for you for not going deeper into things with that man. Natasja has had similar with her biological father and he is an arse plus.

Been up most of the night again so I will definitely need a snooze sometime today.

Ah. Sounds like no contact with your father is for the best then and play the rest by ear.

I'm spitting chips this morning. The boiler part that was replaced last week after weeks of waiting for it is leaking again. Looks like I'm going to be on the phone again!

Yes, it really is gorgeous Martha. I'm so pleased with it.

Oh my goodness Wendy. It's getting silly now. What sort of clowns are they sending to fix it.

Part of yesterday and again today I have been sorting out my stationary cupboard. Up until now I haven't had time to do that since I moved in. I've now managed by throwing away and reorganising to get a spare shelf which now holds my sewing machine. Previously I had that just tucked under the bed which made it a pig to get out. As you know eventually I want nothing under my bed except the four fold down chairs and the box that has Louie's pee pads in. I will never be able to find room for those anywhere else.

Next I'm going to sort out my sideboard cupboards and drawers.

It's sunny today so I'm going to get out with Louie for a fairly decent walk. Next Tuesday I have the stent removed and hopefully that will be able to stay out. From then on I should be able to go further away before I need the loo along with things being far more comfortable as a whole. Not looking forward to having it out under local as it's meant to be extremely uncomfortable to have done. But I will just grit my teeth and bare it knowing that there will be a high chance that this will be the end of it all.

Three weeks later I will have to go back for a scan to check to see that my kidney is working properly on it's own. I will let you know that date as soon as I know so that you can keep your fingers crossed, send thoughts, say a prayer or whatever floats your boat to help make this an end to it all.

Hello!
It's Thursday evening here in Vancouver.
Winter isn't done with us just yet. We had snow Monday night but only a couple inches. It was gone by Tuesday night. Right now it is still fairly chilly out there at 3°C. It's hard to say what the weather will do next. February is usually like this.
Sandy, you are very brave. Just the idea of stents and scans would send me into a panic. But when I get stressed, I fall asleep  Rolling Eyes
Whisper! OMGosh! That DANGED boiler  Suspect
I'm about to get into bed and probably watch some TV. I'm tempted to keep learning stuff from a Thoth Tarot Card Interpretation website I found yesterday but once I start I'll be up all night again. It's so fascinating! I enjoy the break from the usual interpretations. This site concentrates on learning to consciously control the unconscious mind. Very cool. Sleep is a better idea for tonight though LOL

The end is in sight hopefully Sandy. Some discomfort will be worth it if it's done the job. I'm sure Louie will be looking forward to lots of long walks in the wind and rain. lol

Engineer rang me at 1.10pm to say he'd be here in 5 mins. Only five hours late. He was supposed to be here between 8 and 9am. He did show up 45 mins later. It seems the old company is trading under a new name. All pretty dodgy if you ask me. The engineer from previous visits has left along with almost everyone else. Just two engineers and I wasn't a fan of this one. A bit too cocky for my liking.

It wasn't leaking exactly more dripping. Turns out in replacing the second part the previous one needed refixing. Long and boring story but it's fixed. I hope! and no charge which is good.

The sun is making a rare appearance this morning. Yay! Grocery shopping to do and some towels to chuck in the wash and that's about it. Might have a look at my laptop and see what the new features are and probably get rid of most of them. lol The update took so long to do the other day that I just shut it down and went to bed when it had finished.

Wow you sure have been busy Sandy! I still haven't sorted out my new printer or all the bits and pieces I want to use for my next project. Concentrated on the gardens first but now getting annoyed at all the extra stuff sitting here so I must really pull my finger out lol.

Fingers crossed the procedure goes smooth for you Sandy and that the kidney works perfect from now on!

I haven't watched much tv at all lately but have been reading more when I needed to rest.
Still got heaps of shows to catch up on and Jeremy said he had some new movies for me.

Gheez Wendy what a drama with that boiler and with the Engineers. Hopefully all is now well and truly fixed!

Oh heck you reminded me I must do some washing today or I will run out of knickers, lol.

The sun is shining today and it's almost, I say almost, warm out there. I've just had my lunch from over the dining hall and once I have finished this cup of tea I have Louie and I are off for our short walk.

I've done a bit to sorting out my sideboard but later I want to sort out my sewing stuff which is half in a drawer in that and half elsewhere. Need to find a way to put it all together in a good spot.

Apart from all of the above the rest of the day will be reading and tv me thinks.

Done all my washing and did some cooking as well. The freezer is slowly getting filled up again. Smile
Tomorrow I must do a batch of fried rice and perhaps some vegie/tomato soup and that will it.

I've sorted out, washed and fixed clothes for a garage sale tomorrow. The proceeds go to the homeless group that I'm part of. Thankfully I don't have to stand there as I've done my bit.

Tonight I might sit back and watch a movie as I just got notification from Netflix about a few new movies added.

Yesterday was lovely and like Sandy said almost warm. Today we're back to wind and rain. My daughter and her partner are in London for the weekend for his birthday. They're going to see the Crown Jewels as neither of them have ever seen them despite often going to London. Got a text from him to say it's lovely and sunny there. They nicked ours!

Oh well. I'm going to have a play on my laptop later since I never got around to it yesterday.

PostSubject: Re: January Jibber Jabber   17/02/18, 03:08 pm

It's been another lovely mild day here as was yesterday, although at 3pm it is seeming to come over a little dull again.

I've seen the Crown Jewels only once in my life even though I have visited the Tower of London many many times.  Seeing them once was enough for me, but then I'm not a jewellery type person so I wasn't over enamoured with them.  I find large stoned adornments ugly.  Although I must admit the King Edward's Crown is well worth seeing if only for it's history and obviously being the Coronation Crown.  I hope they have fun Wendy.

I did one machine load of washing yesterday but being as I have limited space to dry it all I"m going to have to do a second load today.

I would love to be able to create a spare shelf in my other cabinet, (I'm looking at it as I type) but I simply can't see how I can.  Maybe I will come up with an idea at some point.

I would love to whittle my wardrobe down to the absolute basics but I'm a "just in case" person as far as my clothes go.  Just in case my weight changes.  Just in case I might go somewhere nice to wear it.  Just in case I can alter it to suit a different occasion. Or it's too nice to get rid of. On and on and on it goes.  I mean for goodness sake, I only wear half a dozen outfits anyway so why the bloody hell am I cluttering up with the rest.

Anyway, it's 3pm now and time for me to settle down to a little reading of my Bible and then some tele.  As far as the Bible is concerned I'm trying at the moment to make sense of Isaiah.  Is he prophesying about the Jews before Christ?  Is he prophesying about the Jews after Christ?  Is the message for us of today?  It's got to be one of the most complicated books, along with revelations, there is.  But hey, it's all good fun to try and figure it out.

Sandy I do pretty much the same thing when it comes to my clothes and really need to thin out my wardrobe as it's getting beyond a joke. I've still got clothes in there that I know are too small for me now but because I really like the outfits I've held onto them lol.

Doing a small load of washing for my neighbour at the moment as she can't do it herself after she's just had surgery. That will be it for today though as I'm going to be lazy and watch a few movies or tv shows and even read a bit. I cooked enough yesterday so my dinner is already sorted Smile

Me three on the clothes. lol I've got stuff I'll never get in again and stuff just in case I need something dressy etc., etc.

I'm glad I checked my laptop. That update annihilated my mail program. They won't allow you to install it any more either. I'm not a happy bunny. I hate the latest Skype too. Full of crap I'll never use. I like things simple and functional. In the end I set up their built in mail app which is rubbish and it took me forever to get it to even show sent and deleted mail. Sorted now I think but only by me changing all the server settings. If I used my laptop more often I'd download another mail client but I can't be bothered messing with it any more. It's made me determined my desktop will never get upgraded to 10 though.

It's not only the size of the updates Martha it's how long they take to download and install. It's ridiculous. If that was my main computer I'd be screaming blue murder. Makes me wonder how people using them for work manage to cope.

hug Happy Monday everyone!
It's a chilly -4 here in Vancouver but sunny. We have a bit of snow left but it will be melted away before the day is done.
Me 4 on the wardrobe issue! I have clothes that are too big, too small, too old, never worn, etc but I have trouble letting go of them. And I continue to buy more LOL
The windows updates before the last bunch gave the blue screen of death and so I had to delete it. This last one seemed to do ok for the first day then I got another Blue Screen Of Death, fixed it, and now everything is fine except for the heat problem which has nothing to do with the updates. I'm hoping to have some spare cash this month to spend on a good cleaning by a tech who has experience taking apart a laptop such as mine, where you have to remove the keyboard, the screen, and a card just to get at the fan. I don't feel confident to do it myself.
I'm happy that Roomie isn't here this morning. He's at work, so the TV isn't on, blasting Olympics noise. YAY! It's so nice and quiet Smile

Wendy I was lucky with the updates and sat here while that was done so I managed to not get the new Skype and a few other things. No idea how long I can keep the new Skype from automatically being installed but I'm trying hard to avoid that as Sandy told me how horrible it is.

The thing is with windows now; everything comes as an app and I prefer the old ways still lol.

Elaine enjoy your quiet time while roomie is at work Smile

I managed to sort through my clothes and another bag is ready to go to the op shop yayyyy.

Those updates on windows are certainly one thing I do not miss about it, although there will soon come a time when I have to go back to a windows comp because I don't think I will ever be able to afford another Apple lappy once this one goes.

I'm just having a quick cuppa after getting up at 6am to get ready to go to the hospital. Hopefully I should be in and out quickly and it all be over by 9am. That's if they take me in on or near my appointed time of 8am.

Good luck with that Sandy.

What's weird Martha is on my laptop with Win 10 my old Skype stayed and allows me to sign in fine. On my desktop with Win 7 it updated it and despite me uninstalling it and reinstalling the old version it refuses to let me sign into it. Just says Skype can't connect. It's infuriating. If I could swap the two I'd be happy since I don't use it on my laptop anyway but use it most days on my desktop. Sandy is right. It's awful.

We have sunshine this morning. Yay! Just doing housework and then visiting my brother later.

10am and I am back now. I feel as if I have been kicked by a donkey down there, but hopefully I wont have to have any of this done again. No walk for Louie today I am afraid.

They showed me the stent afterwards and oh my word no wonder they are so uncomfortable to have inside you. It was even bigger/longer than I imagined and didn't even look like I imagined it to be. Pigging evil bit of torture equipment, lol.

Cup of tea now and I'm even home in time to get my lunch time meal at midday. Fish pie and banana split for afters.

Fingers crossed that's done the trick and you won't have to return to the torture chamber in the future. I'm sure Louie won't be heartbroken about missing a walk or two considering how often he refuses to go out anyway. lol

More racket outside with pneumatic drills and diggers etc. It's enough to make a person reach for the Valium. Not much on today. Some laundry, comb the moggy and a few other bits and bobs but mostly playing online and watching a couple of shows.

Gosh you wouldn't believe how much better I feel now that the stent is out. Today I am able to stand up, walk and pee all with no pain or discomfort at all. It's given me a new lease of life. I'm peeing a lot at the moment because I have to drink a lot of water to flush out any germs that might have got into the bladder due to the proceedure. But then I always have to do that each time they changed it too.

Louie and I were able to walk further today but didn't go much further than we normally would has it was so bloody cold out there. But it was a very comfortable walk, lol.

Other than that, I've done some housework. Cleaned out Louie's bed/bag from his usual collection of crap and washed both of his blankets that he has in there. He fought me all the way to keep his rubbish, by grabbing as much as he could and hiding it under the bed as I was grabbing what I could. So after I had grabbed what I could and thrown it away I then had to go under the bed to get the rest.

This time I found a couple of hair bands in there, 3 empty crisp packets, a clean hankie that I had got out and put in my pocket only yesterday, which he obviously must have nicked while he was cuddled up to me on the sofa, and of course the usual chewed up tissue and bits of sweet wrapper. I honestly don't know how he gets hold of it all. I can only assume that perhaps the majority of it he does nick out of my pockets as he is lying beside me while I am watching tele or dozing.

Other than the above, I've watched tele, watched a couple of lectures on Youtube, and had an afternoon kip.

Great that you can already feel the benefit Sandy. It's amazing you're out walking already. Thanks for the laugh this morning. You'll never be able to say Louie isn't entertaining. lol!

I had to move the workmen's barrier this morning to get the wheely out. I decided against putting it back for them. There was no reason for it to be encroaching on my gateway in the first place. I've washed my bedding and Pip helped me put fresh on the bed. Done a very small amount of ironing and now I'm contemplating what if anything I can be bothered to do next.

Pleased to hear all went well and you got home so quick and most importantly, without the stent ... yayyyy. Smile Just take it easy for a few days Sandy and perhaps get some Cranberrie tablets. These are the ones I take ...
https://www.ural-australia.com/ural-daily-supplement

I've been up most nights with being in touch with family because of mum and you can read that on my board. Sorry but don't feel like typing it all again here.

Catherine needs me to check up on the dogs tomorrow and Saturday I'm playing taxi driver again lol.
Her partner is away for work so no doubt she needs me to check on the dogs on Saturday too.

Next weekend we have all our birthdays again and we're looking at going away for a night down south. It's a long weekend here then and Catherine & Dan are organising the get away thing.
I'm not allowed to pay for anything as that is my birthday gift which is very nice Smile
Dan's parents and brother are coming too and I'm looking forward to it.
