Good afternoon everyone, the weather is beautiful here today although cold I do wish I was able to go out and enjoy it with my camera in tow but, can't because of this stupid Shingles issue in my eye. I got rid of most of it now it's just the eye and man is it ever over staying its welcome. grrrr

i'm looking forward for it to be gone for good and able to see out of it again and hopefully no more pain. whoohoo
I have a follow up with the doc tomorrow for this health issue and hopefully it's all good news. *fingers crossed*

Hope everyone's having an awesome Monday!

Good evening!
Just thought I'd pop in and say hello before heading to bed. Roomie is still sick and so I've been avoiding being around him. I am not sure how sick he actually is. He's a bit of a wimp when it comes to things like that. Anyway, I'm still healthy  dance
Today I spent some time in the kitchen making things to easily heat & eat for the rest of the week. I made veggie burger patties, vegan/keto buns, and a wonderful sauce made of butternut squash, mushrooms, onions & garlic that I can have over steamed cauliflower or zoodles.
I'm so tired right now that I can't think straight  Sleep Yup, time for bed  hug

I hope your eye is better soon Marie. That's a lovely photo.

I'm just going to pop over for dinner Elaine if that's OK.

Heavy rain and gales here yesterday and the same so far today. I hope the rest helps with the hip Sandy. The damp and cold definitely don't help.

I'm going to be back on the phone to the boiler repair place today. Third time lucky I hope. She's told me twice already she'll speak to the engineer and get back to me and then nothing. That really winds me up. It's so rude and a terrible way to run a business. Now he's started the job I'm determined he's going to finish it though.

Wow!  I have never heard of getting shingles in the eyes.  That must be bloody painful.

Good that so far so good with you not coming down with what your roomie has Elaine.

You give that boiler man hell Wendy, lol.

Day two of resting hip.  Usually when it gets bad, it will go as quickly as I comes, as long as I rest it.  It's a bit better today, so once again going to lounge all day.  I do like lounging and not feeling guilty for doing sod all.

Hello Sandy and everyone,
I deleted my favorites accidentally so here I am to say hello. Drove me nuts. Anyway, I am heading off early from the computer since I have Hulu and Netflix now and just feel like making some curry and watching movies tonight. Have a nice night/day everyone!

They're sourcing the part Sandy and will get back to me with a price and to book the engineer's visit. That was supposed to be by late morning yesterday. I'm so glad the heat and water are actually working or my phone manner wouldn't be very ladylike.

Went to visit my brother yesterday and while I was there the sleet and snow started. When I left it was hailstones and the roads were already slick. More of the same last night and a biting wind too this morning. I'm definitely staying home today.

Netflix has had me spellbound too Becky.

You seem to be having it really bad up there weather wise Wendy.  It's so mild down here at the moment if one ignores the rain.

Being as I have been having a couple of really lazy days I have absolutely nothing of interest to mention.  I am also going to have another resting day today.  The place is tidy and there is only a couple of bits of washing up to do, but actual cleaning can wait.  I am going to have to hobble out though to take Louie for a sniff and a walk around the immediate area.  I should do that while it's dry and the sun is shinning.

Max of 1C today. Windy and more wintry showers forecast. I need to move.

Nothing much happening here. Recycling is out, dishes are done and I'm debating whether to to ring and give the boiler company a blast or just chill out and wait for them to get back to me.

PostSubject: Re: Winter Jibber Jabber   18/01/18, 03:06 pm

Good morning everyone!!
I was trying to catch up and it sounds like it's cold in a lot of places.  I did read Mississippi, Texas, and Georgia were having it a lot colder than they are use to.  ONe lady from Texas in my Cameo silhouette group was whining over 25F  I said in Illinois when it's 25 we still wear out flip flops.  Not really, well not me, you do see those at Walmart.  Crazy loons.

Shingles in the eye?  Oh dear, I do feel for you.  That must be very painful.  I hope it is gone soon.

I have never liked January and I still do not.  When I was 15 my sister was in a terrible car wreck in January and that is my motivation.  But I have been trying in my adult years to overcome that.  But yesterday my husband was diagnosed with bladder cancer,  that was in the morning and in the afternoon I was diagnosed with severe arthritis in the3 knee.  I twisted my knee Dec 30 on the way to our sons home for a Christmas party and I couldn't walk onit the next 5 days.  Last time that happened I got cortisone shots the next day and was able to walk.  However this was right before a holiday and I had to wait. So Jan 2 I got to the Dr's and I couldn't have a cortisone shot because I had gotten one Oct 30 and you have to wait 3 months.  So they wanted me to gt this lotion but said my insurance wouldn't pay for it.  It was $1000 a tube. What kind of miracle cram would that be?  The nurse said they usually give out samples but they were out. Suggested I buy bio-freeze.  So I did and it's pretty nice.  And then do water therapy, since that is all I can do with my back.  So I am calling a gym today to join. They have an arthritis class I was going to join this month anyway, and would have done so had I not messed up my knee.  It is just now feeling strong enough to drive again.

OK, back to the more important issue my husband. They found a trace of blood during a routine Dr visit. So they waited a week, tested it again and there was none.  However since he use to smoke, the Dr decided to do a sonogram.  They saw a slight thickening couldn't tell what it was, so they sent him to an urologist.   He did a scope and told him its cancer but that it was very small and very early.  He said he was surprised the Dr did a sonogram but good thing he did.  So Monday he has a catscan to make sure the tubes are clean, and then they will do surgery to remove the small tumor. He didn't think he would need treatment but of course they won't know that until they get it tested.   His sister had bladder cancer last year and she had to have some kind of a wash, like 8 treatments and she has been cancer free for over a year now.   I am calling my sister-in-law today to tell her her hubby needs checked since 2 of his siblings has had it.   I am of course afraid but it sounds like it's going to be OK.  My son is frightened and my daughter will being a nurse practitioner she knows too much, but said it all sounded good. She was mad at herself for not going with him yesterday.  Then yelled at me for not going.  I woke up to go, he kept saying you look way too tired I wish you would go back to bed. So I did and slept another 3 hours.  This hobbling around with a walker, then a cane, up down the stairs all day long is exhausting.  This knee issue is going to be a chronic problem and he still won't consider moving.   I get so wore out on the steps, we have 4 levels.  I never wanted to build this type of home, I should've fought him harder when we picked out the plans.   It sort of keeps me angry at him when the struggle wears me out and I hate being mad at him all the time.  I am at a loss....anyway the focus now is to get him through this.  I have had all the medical problems in the family, he has only had one small surgery, and this surgery will be pretty small too. I just hope that is all there is to it.  Between my knee his bladder, dentist and eye drs it seems its all we do these days.

I have had eye issues for a few months now and finally getting into my specialist Feb 5th.  I called early Dec and that was the soonest they could get me in.  I have like when you cry and have water on your eyelashes, how it looks, that is what I have.  They did tell me to try lubricating drops and as long as I get them in 4 times a day there is a slight improvement.  So it might be dry eyes, I have had issues before with dry eyes, only I never had this, I had more of it hurt so bad I couldn't keep my eyes open. One time I had to work all day with sunglasses on.  I do have pre-glaucoma too.  So anyway, that is another issue.    More chronic pain for me.  It's not enough with my back, now my knees too.  They did tell me the knee issues often come from having a bad back.   It started up right after my last back surgery in 2013.  But anyway, as long as hubby is OK I can muster through this.   My mom has bladder cancer too, but of course she is 85 not 66 but they may need to do a wash on her too.   Good grief.

So we did have a nice Christmas but I think I said that already.   It was the littlest granddaughters bday Tuesday. She was so cute, jumping up and saying it's my bday...LOL  She opened all her presents so excited.  We just had immediate family, as Granddaughter #2 bday is Feb 19th and the triplets are Feb 22 we are going to have all 3 birthdays at once.  This will help my niece with the triplets from having so many people at her house. Her husband has a large family all right there in Cape Girardeau, MO  so they all show up.   I gave EB some presents the other night but I will be giving her more on the 19th.  Clothes or money, she got a ton of toys the other night.  She got a few dolls, and they wrap those things up like they contain gold.  She wanted me to get a doll out and I said ask PO-Po he has a knife.  She went over there and asked him, he started trying with his hands, she said, you got a knife get it out. LOL   She is adorable.  Well I think so LOL  I am so happy she is alive and OK I just get all happy looking at her.

OK so I wrote a book (again) and if you are still reading this, I bid you a great day!!

Hope your hip feels a lot better now Sandy. The wet weather is probably not helping either.

Linette I've never heard of shingles in the eyes and it sounds very painful; you poor thing. Hope it's easing a lot more for you now.

Wendy what a frustrating time you're having with that boiler and the mechanic. Luckily you still have hot water!
Sounds like nasty cold weather you're having so be careful on those icy roads!

Hope roomie is feeling better Elaine and I too would stay far away from him while he's sick. You got some good cooking in there ... all sounds delicious Smile

I've got Netlfix but haven't turned it on in months ... just too busy and when I finally sit down to relax I read and then snooze lol.

Had a few full days but the worst of the work is done and my paved area for the outdoor setting is now bigger and it looks so much better. Got a nice sun tan too hahahaha.

We ended up with 106mm in the gage here from that front that came through. Drains couldn't cope so many roads flooded and some yards looked like small lakes.
The gardens loved that good drenching though Smile

Sorry to hear of all of your woes Tara.  Lovely photo of the girls.

I think you've got just the right about of garden space there Martha.  Martha gave me a look around her garden the other evening via snapchat video chatting.

I hope you manage to get that blasted boiler of yours fixed soon Wendy.  You must be so frustrated by it all.

I had another nice surprise visit from Aimee and Jessie last night.  Once again they both turned up in their pyjamas, but then I'm never surprised by that because all three of them, including Sarah always use pyjamas for lounging around in all the time they are indoors.  To them that's their normal indoor clothing.   I tend to do that after 5pm but not before, just incase of anyone knocking on the door.

My hip is feeling quite a lot better today, but I'm not going to push myself again yet, as I want to make sure it doesn't get worse again.  One more day of not doing too much should do it I think.

I do need to change my sheets today though.  Which of course also means washing them, drying them and putting them away.

Sunny outside at the moment and the temp is 0 degs, but at least it's all dry and still no snow.  This last few days it's been pleasant in the mornings but rained every afternoon.

I caved and rang the boiler company again yesterday. They couldn't get the part at their usual suppliers so are looking elsewhere. *rollseyes*

Just back from grocery shopping. Had a bit of snow on the way there but not enough to cause any problems. A cold breeze and a mix of sunshine and showers. About 2C I think.

I'm cursing Windows Update. Again! Left it running while I went out and got back to find it's hanging on Creating a Restore Point. Useless these days. It always manages to find something to stall on although it usually gets past that point.

Good morning from a grey and chilly Lancashire. Had visitors show up Friday night and stay overnight but otherwise a quiet and lazy weekend so far. I'm happy for it to stay that way.

Very frustrating Elaine. Computers are designed to try our patience but are wonderful when they behave as we'd like them to.

Whisper, that is so true! At least i've been wondering if there is a conspiracy  lol!
It's a windy day here in Vancouver but I don't have to go anywhere today, so that's ok. The wind almost tore the roof off our deck though! We're going to have to fix it when things calm down. Other than that, Roomie has hockey or football or some such on TV and I'll make some pizzas for him later. Have a wonderful day!

Yes Sandy I really do have the right amount of garden space I reckon. Couldn't handle a big yard anymore. Haven't done any more work outside as my shoulder has been so sore and swollen. Rested over the weekend and the swelling has gone down a lot but still very sore. Will see how it goes this week otherwise will need to get that checked out again.

Wendy I see I have a windows update waiting for me to ... argh I keep on wondering how many of those updates are really for our safety.

Oh no Elaine you have had this happen in the past with your computer! Hope it will keep on working for you as buying a new one is not cheap.

Fingers crossed on the shoulder Martha. Have you been overdoing it or did the swelling come out of the blue?

The updates often take ages on Preparing to Install which makes me laugh. How much preparation is needed? They never used to be such a pain in the proverbial. Probably not many are for security purposes.

I need to move and get some housework done this morning. Lunch out later which at least makes me stir.

Good evening♥️
Well, I burned the pizzas yesterday and so spent the rest of the night making new ones from scratch. Now I've got leftover pizza dough that i want to make something with. It has to be something Roomie will eat and I won't be tempted to have some LOL He's good for today though so maybe I'll freeze the dough for now & search online for some interesting recipes.
There has been heavy construction going on in my neighbourhood. I am not sure where it is, as I don't often leave the house, but it sounded like it was right outside my window since the wee hours of the morning, like around 4:00 AM. Then it suddenly stopped but firetrucks and ambulances were flying past my house for the next hour. My cat and I both got some sleep after that. It's so nice and quiet right now that I think I should go to bed soon just in case the noise starts up again in the morning.

You have now.

That's a strange time of day for construction work. Sounds like something bad happened.

Nothing happening here today apart from some more housework. The cat is currently chasing the window cleaner's hand round each window.

Sounds like a gas leak or something and they had to dig the road up Elaine.

I've been playing on Ancestry.com yesterday and the day before building up a family tree.  Tiring to do but fun.

Today I got the sewing machine out and have been playing with that.  Sewed two pieces together wrong so had to unpick and start that project again.  But it's looking good, now.  Will finished it off tomorrow.

I'm trying to find fun things to do to get me through the winter without climbing the walls.

It's hammering it down and the wind is wicked here right now. Nasty weather and I'm not poking my nose outside today. It's depressing even for those who don't suffer from SAD Sandy so I'm glad you've found a few things to keep you occupied.

Visited my brother yesterday and one of his daughters showed up there too. Funnily enough his other daughter had popped by mine with her puppy just before I left. That puppy is still only eight months old but she's huge. She's a beautiful German Shepherd and going to be a big one.

Nothing planned for today so I'll play it by ear. I definitely won't be doing anything outdoors though.

Weather the same here Wendy.  Very nasty!  I'm doing well at the moment re: mood.

When I set up the sewing machine yesterday I found that the lead didn't reach a wall socket so sent a text to Charlie to see if he had one on his van that was going begging.  Love his heart, he was here within half hour with one.  He had told me to always ask him first if I need anything as he has spares of all sorts.  I don't know how I managed without him before, lol.

More sewing for me today and I might also listen to a couple of lectures on line as well.

Thanking the godz that the tsunami never happened. YaY it was just a horizontal slip. Anyway, I now have a GoBag which includes cat & cat food & camera &  phone charger & water.  Yikes I was kinda scared for a few hours.

I thought of you Elaine when I read online about the tsunami warning.
I agree with Sandy and also think there might have been a gas leak or water leak and that would explain that noise in the middle of the night.

That Charlie really is a god send Sandy Smile
Pleased to hear you are doing well and that SAD is not effecting you too much now.

Wendy that shoulder has been giving me problems for a while and a scan showed bone spurs there 6months ago so I knew that eventually it would give me more trouble.
Had a cortisone injection in that left shoulder yesterday so now resting it for 48hrs.
Then on Tuesday I need another cortisone in that left elbow as the ulnar nerve area is also highly inflamed. Already had surgery for that elbow but was told it would only last about 3-4 years and it has now been 10 years so not bad really considering.

We have Australia Day's long weekend here with Friday being a public holiday and I won't be doing anything heavy handed for a week. Started to watch an episode of Chicago Fire that I still hadn't seen and will finish that today.
