That was a very welcome anticlimax Elaine after all the warnings. Glad it came to nothing in the end.

I agree about Charlie. Definitely a godsend and with none of the drawbacks of a husband. lol

That's done really well then Martha. Will you have to consider another surgery or isn't that feasible? Sit back and enjoy the forced rest. A good time to catch up on reading and shows without feeling guilty since you're not allowed to do much anyway.

"A mixture of sunshine and blustery showers are expected, these sometimes merging to bring longer spells of rain, hill snow, and hail in heavier downpours. It will turn colder later."

I'm not impressed. The wind is biting already so if it turns colder we're going to freeze.

That must have been terrifying waiting to see if a tsunami arrived Elaine.  Thank goodness it was a false alarm.

You seem to be really going through it with your aches and pains these last few month Martha.  It must be really dragging you down.

I've been reading a lot about them trying to get rid of Australia Day.  Some of the councils over there aren't going to celebrate it but are being ordered to seemingly.

Yup, I agree Wendy.  A cup of tea is all that is expected, lol.  I've fallen on my feet here.

Lovely sunny day here.  Louie and I have just got back from a short walk along the cliff tops and boy was it cold up there.  That wind coming off the sea is a doozy, but did blow the cobwebs away.

I'm playing on Gab now until I go to collect my lunch in half hour.  Turkey and Ham pie today with Trifle for afters.  Not one of my favourites but at least it means I don't have to cook tonight but can just have a sandwich.

Sandy yes there is a divide here about Australia Day and I agree with the indigenous people about this as the 26th of January was the day their land got invaded by the westerners so to them this is invasion day and nothing to celebrate about.
That they want to celebrate Australia Day is nice ... just make it on a different date and a lot of these issues would be avoided and respect shown to the aboriginal people that lived here first.

Yes Sandy my bones and nerves have taken a beating these last few months and there is not much that can done about it. If things get really bad I will be looking at a spinal fusion and that is one I am trying hard to avoid as the risks are way to high!
The doctors said though that if it wasn't for me being so active I would be a lot worse so I just plot along for as long as I can.

They are finding things wrong inside my body all the time now with all the latest scanning technology and some of it is frightening to be honest. Seems that I was born with a mutation of 2 chromosomes and that explains a few things now but of course in those days no one knew anything about it.
Both my girls have this mutation too so they are getting genetic counseling now to inform them what and how etc. It effect the female directly but the male can be a carrier too so Jeremy needs to get tested at some stage if he and his girl friend where to think about having kids.

Brrr sounds like real cold winter weather there in the UK. Wish I could send you some of our summer heat.

I can never decide whether it's better to know about those kinds of things or not Martha. If it's something they can take action over I suppose it's useful but otherwise I'd rather not know.

Yesterday was very wet and windy. This morning is just very grey and chilly so far. Grocery shopping to do but nothing else that I can't put off. I lead an exciting life!!

It amazes me in this day and age how long it takes for the medical profession to find a root cause of things.

Often people are ill for donkeys years and then finally find out things like, it's hormone levels.  Why not check those as a routine.  Same with your chromeosomes.  If all the likely things have been checked it shouldn't take years to finally check out that.

THanks for letting me know about that Marie.

I'm very sluggish today, but going to have to force myself into some housework as it's started to run away with me because I've been so lazy with that this week.  I also need to change my sheets.  I bloody hate that job.

It's blowing a gale and hammering it down again here. Getting old and depressing. Oh well I'm having my hair cut and coloured on Monday. That should make me feel better.

The engineer has finally got the part for my boiler and will fit that on Thursday. Another £138 on top of the £60 from a couple of weeks ago. I'm not amused but it has to be done and they know that.

My daughter has just said she'll be visiting and staying overnight on Friday along with sending me a link to order something on e-bay for her. Her ex did something dodgy with her account and they won't let her have it back so muggins here always has to order stuff for her.

Sandy I hear what you're saying but honestly there is so much that was never looked into or researched in years gone past. I find that the more I hear/find out about certain things, the clearer it becomes that our GP's don't know that much after all. I realise they can only know what they have been taught during their studies so this is not a put down on them.

Then there is the fact that it wasn't always possible to do certain tests etc because in those years there was no right equipment/scanners etc to them.

Wendy I agree with you and in this case it's something my kids need to know as they can use it in a preventable scenario or early intervention scenario.

Enjoy getting your hair done Wendy Smile I always feel good after that.
Wow what a nasty streak from your daughter's ex. Can't she create a new account on e-bay? That's what I would be doing anyway lol.
Bugger about the extra cost for your boiler but good to hear it finally is getting fixed!

I am the postal delivery address for my kids's parcels as it's safer to have them delivered to my place.

PostSubject: Re: Winter Jibber Jabber   27/01/18, 02:38 pm

Good morning everyone, hope everyone's having or has had a good start to their weekend.  Smile

Due to my Shingles that has also effected my left eye I was sent to the eye specialist where he indeed clarified that my eye has been effected by the damn Shingles which my Dr. said it wasn't, thank god for specialists and damn he's so handsome too, lol

So, I will be taking three prescriptions everyday for a month, one is in two forms of steroids. A liquid I have to administer every hour until I go to bed where i then put in one drop of the gel form just before going to bed, and the other which is what dilates/relaxes my eye twice a day. With that one I look like I'm tripping on acid. lol

Dr.'s are supposed to go back every so often to get re-educate/update their medical profession because every year something new comes out and something new is developed in the lab for medicine if they don't they're not allowed to continue with their practice or risk getting sued for malpractice. At least for here in Canada that's the law I don't know if that's the same everywhere else.

G'day everyone
It's a super sloppy Saturday here in Vancouver. Huge puddles everywhere!
We just got home from shopping etc. I am so grateful that we have Bulk Barn. I do end up spending quite a bit of moolah but everything is healthy and organic & way cheaper than anywhere else.
Wendy, my first husband locked me out of our joint account and would not fix it even though my paycheque was deposited. I cannot abide that kind of devaluing and disrespect so I left him. WoW it's taking a long time to get your boiler working! I'd be climbing the walls.
Sandy, I hate changing my sheets too. The way my bedroom is arranged makes it very difficult to remake the bed. A huge job that tuckers me out.
Martha I've heard that the spinal fusion helps a lot of people. They won't do it for me because of where the issues are. There is a 50% chance that it would paralyze me from the waist down.
Linette, I am so glad that the eye is being looked after. That must have been some kind of scary.
Anyhoo, I still have half of my bulk stuff to put away into jars then make myself something to eat. I wish I could just wiggle my nose and it would all be done LOL

Ah definitely good for them to know then Martha.

To create a new account my daughter would have to open a new bank account too because of the way they linked the two. She's decided it's not worth the hassle since she doesn't need another bank account. I just order her stuff and she transfers the money for them. I get them delivered to her so I don't have to wait in for her parcels which can be a pain.

Elaine that sounds very vindictive of him. Sounds like you had a lucky escape. People can be so bitter and twisted it's unbelievable sometimes. Fortunately my boiler is working after a fashion or I'd have been screaming blue murder by now. The pressure relief valve is leaking causing it to lose pressure but it will limp along for another few days.

Linette handsome is a definite bonus. lol Glad you're getting the right treatment now.

Happy Anniversary Zan's Zone.

Wow!  I didn't notice it's been a year already that I moved the board to Forumotion.  Goodness that year has flown.

So pleased the boiler finally sort of got fixed Wendy.

As for Ebay.  If ever I want anything my niece Beverley orders it for me as she has always been active buying and selling on there, whereas it's so rare for me to ever want anything from there that it's a pain for me to bugger around with an account there.

I never did get my housework done yesterday.  That bloody Martha held me hostage again on Skype for about 4 hours, lol.  Before we started chatting I had managed to get a sparkling bathroom and half a sparkling kitchen.  But I always get my priorities in order.  Chatting to Martha is far more important than bloody housework.  Today I will finish off the rest of the place.

Linette I can only imagine how painful that must be and I'd never heard of shingles in the eyes! Hope it heals quick. I love you

Elaine .. some men are too nasty to even give them seconds of your time. Glad you got out of that relationship!

Yeah Sandy we both started our new boards 1 year ago Smile time sure flies hey!
Hahahaha thanks for the laugh this early on the Monday morning ... I did enjoy our "little" chat on Skype tongue Cleaning is so overrated anyway.

I have never liked Ebay and yes did at one point create an account but hardly ever used it. Now I don't even bother looking at that website. My son could always order for me if I really needed something from there.

Busy Monday again and only had about 4 hrs sleep ...

Nothing wrong with having your priorities straight Sandy. lol

I very rarely use e-bay myself but still had an account so ordering my daughter's stuff keeps it active and helps her out so I may as well hang on to it.

Not fixed yet Sandy but hopefully it will be on Thursday.

Having my hair cut and coloured later today and got some cleaning to do before that so I need to kick myself into gear. Maybe one more coffee first.

Good morning everyone, it's STILL raining cats and dogs here, pretty soon Elaine and I will be swimming everywhere to get around anywhere. lol tongue

lmao Sandy and Martha, too funny! ((hugs))

After my visit from my handsome eye specialist and all these eye drops it is getting better except this morning when I woke up to a swollen eye lid again, there was an ache behind the eye but, has stopped since but, the swelling is still there.

Yesterday the shingles flared up around the eye so I would assume this is the result of it in my eye.

This is probably weird to the doctors as well of shingles being in the eye, I just hate it period and just wish it would go away for good.

I hope everyone is having an awesome day and that your weather is doing so much better than mine.

Also,
Zan's Zone!!

Ooooo! Lookie, a Happy Birthday piccy.  Thanks Marie.

It's a real bummer about your eye.  I hope it clears up soon.

I'm still waiting for one of my girls to dye my hair as they promised Wendy.  Not overly bothered about it though, as I'm just doing it for fun.

I did get a little more work done yesterday Martha but today I've spent visiting Big Sis.  I've just got home now.  I don't see her nearly as often as I would like to.

That sounds really nasty Marie. I hope the drops help and it clears up soon. It's definitely an odd one.

Are you going for the same colour but bolder this time Sandy?

Had a long catch up with my American friend after my sister left so didn't get much done yesterday apart from a bit of housework in the morning. Going to visit my brother this afternoon and I'm debating whether I can be bothered to do some cleaning downstairs before that. Feeling very lazy.

Good morning!
I'm just getting some housework done today. The sun is peeking through the rain clouds but the ground is still very swampy. Haven't even seen much wildlife around here lately. There were a couple of racoons in the backyard a few mornings ago but that's it. Usually, there are a lot of birds and squirrels. I miss them.
Anyway, I 'd better get back to cleaning the bathroom YAY  Rolling Eyes
Have a beautiful day!♥️

Oh yes what colour will you be doing this time Sandy?

Hahahaha Linette you should be a fly on the wall when Sandy and I chat on Skype ... it can get hilarious lol! I don't thin we can do short chats somehow lol.

Hope it dries up a little for you there Elaine and Linette! How sad to not even see much wild life Sad

I'm on forced rest again after my elbow injection so going to sit back with a movie or 2 and do just that.

I'm hibernating. We've had a bit of snow and a couple of hail showers so far this morning. A bitter wind blowing too. I'm not a happy bunny either. Boiler company just rang and cancelled tomorrow's appointment. The engineer has called in sick. They'll try and rearrange for next week but he doesn't know yet when he'll be back at work. I'm spitting chips! If I hadn't already waited three weeks for them to get the part I'd find somebody else but I don't fancy starting all over again.

I'm not sure if I will do blue or pink for my hair when one of the girls finally get around to coming to do it.  They bought the colours.  I think it might possibly be the blue, and will leave it on longer so that it hopefully turns out more blue than the mauve did mauve.

Oh for crying out loud Wendy.  What is wrong with those boiler people.  I doubt very much it is because someone has gone sick.  It's more like they over booked appointments.

Bugger about the elbow Martha matie.  Do make sure you rest long enough for both elbow and shoulder

I've been taking up net curtains yesterday and today.  It's such hard work doing the measuring and cutting on the floor with the dog buggering around it all.  So just doing a bit each day.  I might actually get them finished by tomorrow.  Who knows.

lol Glad the treatment is working Marie.

Possibly Sandy although I think they only have one engineer covering this area so it could also be true. Annoying whichever is the case.

Louie helping with the curtains reminds me of my cat helping me change bedding. lol

It's freezing again here. Snow and hail showers again last night but I did get a peek at the moon just before I went to bed. It was well past midnight when the sky cleared enough to see it.

Good evening!

Here I am with my never ending trauma of things.
Mother is finally getting better, she had that illness going around, couldn't kick it so finally the Dr gave her antibiotics.  She is looking better.

My husband Ken, has been diagnosed with bladder cancer.  Its a very small tumor and was caught through a routine exam. They are going to remove it the 20th. So far no talk of chemo.  Said they would watch him every 3 months for a while. I will feel a lot better after its out and they say no chemo again at that point.  My mom also has bladder cancer, they mentioned some kind of a wash treatment.   Ken's sister had bladder cancer over a year ago and she had to have some kind of treatment but has been all clear since. The treatments never made her sick.  Mom heads to the Dr the 28th and we will see what they are going to do with her.

My knee is getting better, the Dr wants me to buy this cream, cost $1000 a tube.  Insureance don't cover.  I bought some Australian Dream Cream its called. Seems OK.  I swear the Campho Phenique I used brought more relief.  I joined a club and I am doing an  aqua arthritis class 3 times a week.  I twisted my knee Dec 30th, and couldn't even walk the first 5 days, it still hurts now but doing better.  I had to use a walker the first week, a cane the 2nd and 3rd week.  I had an MRI and it's arthritis. I guess twisting it upset the arthritis. It never did swell but last week it swelled up behind the knee. My knee caps are also sliding off to the side.   I may need a knee replacement at some point cause 3 Spinal Fusions isn't enough.  Not to mention the leg broken in 3 places back in 1993, had my kids by c-section and a hysterectomy.   Several small surgeries, I guess I am pro..grrrrrr..

The swim class is fun.  The ladies and a few men are so friendly.  The gym is really nice, clean and only cost $27 a month for 12 classes a month, I actually could go everyday but my back would get too sore right now. Not to mention I have to drive over 30 min to get there.
And the perk its right net to a Dollar Tree...LOL  I have a friend who lives there in that town too, so I can stop and see her once in a while too.

Linnette happy to hear the shingles are getting better in your eye, does not sound like a picnic. My goodness, sounds painful.
Martha, your arm is hurting?  I pulled my shoulder too, cause the legs, and eyes and my back needed company I guess.  Its just  a slight strain.  Probably caused by pushing myself up and down with my leg hurting.  I saw someone mention spine fusion but why would that be helpful to your arm?  I've been fused 3 times.
Hello Everyone else..I hope 2018 has been treating you well!!
