I often get knocks on my door at inconvenient moments, such as when I am having an afternoon kip or if I am out and someone knocks it sets the dog barking, which is unfair to the neighbours.  Not that I have had anyone mention that Louie barks.

So anyway, I have made a couple of images on photographic paper yesterday to put on the outside of my door when needed.  I had to use the top one yesterday morning when I popped out.

At the moment I only stuck it on with a bit of blue tack, but I'm thinking of figuring out how to make a sort of frame with top opening to slot the photo in and out when needed, that I can put on the door as a permanent frame for them.

I assume it's safe to put on the door the sign that says you are out?

Both signs are well done Sandy ... I like them Smile

Yeah, it's perfectly safe.  The only thing I would have to change is to actually lock my door when I go out which I don't bother to do at the moment.

It would be a very rare thing for someone to be able to, or even attempt to get into the main door, just to try to rob the flats.  Old people are extremely paranoid about buzzing people in that they don't know.  Plus the slightest sound on the landings brings everyone out of their doors to see what's going on.

On top of that, any "burgler" wouldn't have any idea if the dog was vicious.

I also wouldn't have any need to use the sign after dark because no one would knock on my door after about 3 or 4pm anyway.

It's just for using during the day for neighbours and Charlie.

Sandy, how about something like this HERE could you find a way to make something one of these sock hooks work for you or something like it?

Love the bottom one by the way, way too adorable. Smile

In the end I used an old dvd see through box.  I put that on my door using velcro tape that one can use for putting pictures on walls.

I simply open it, add the photo inside and it shows through the plastic.

Also I didn't want to leave it empty when I'm not out or sleeping so I made another one with the name I have given my flat.

When I first moved in I called it The Hobbit Hole.  I have a window sticker on my front window for it.

This is how an image of it looks on my door within the plastic box.

Thanks matie.  That box is also covering up two screw holes left there by the previous tenent, so it's made the door look a bit tidier.

In my old block a couple of residents put up a photo of themselves and dog saying "We Live Here" or some have a shop made door plate with their name on, which I also thought was fun.

But as for using an old dvd box, I had to wrack my brains for a couple of days to finally figure out that one.

I have only ever seen on this complex one other person that has named their flat.  She simply brought her old house plaque of "Pooh Corner" with her when she moved here and put it in her front window.  Funnily enough her flat happens to be the corner flat of her block.

It would be nice if more people did this.  Make the complex a bit more fun.
