It is sad Sandy but luckily we're all still in the same county and most in the same town. The rest are only a few miles away so there's no excuse for drifting apart really. People just get busy with their own lives and without mum as a focus it's easy to not realize how long it's been since you saw someone or all met up together.

Louie's recall is exemplary then I gather. lol

Back to sunshine today and no more rain forecast so it looks like that one big downpour was all we're getting. A hosepipe ban starts here on 5th August. On the up side I've just hung washing outside. I don't think I've dried so much outdoors for a decade.

Louie is a little shite and I'm thinking of trading him in for a cat, lol.  He's still in bed at the moment, but I'm going to drag him out soon and get him out for a walk.

It's so nice you all live in the same county.  When us Sisters did we all still saw each other until we all seperated by county.  But then perhaps it was always just Mum keeping us all in the same area.

We didn't get the rain here in the end.  In fact it was a gorgeous day.  Perfect temps for walking in.  It looks like today is going to be similar.

I think the influx of the West Indians coming here in the 50s brought the Kaftan with them Geru.  They were very popular at one time and seem now to be making a come back.  I've had a couple in the past to lounge around the house in.  Never heard of a Mumu, but looking those up on the web, although they are flowing and long, as is the Kaftan, they seem to be a slightly different style.

Just had a reminder on my comp that it's Beverley's partner, Ted's, birthday tomorrow.  I'm so angry at myself for forgetting.  I've been too concerned about all these dental appointments I've had to think about anything else but them.  I must nip out later and at least get him a card and then find some way of getting it over there.

Today I'm hoping to listen to Prime Ministers question time as it's believed that Boris Johnson is going to get up and do a speech on why he resigned.  Also the Tommy Robinson court appeal is today and I want to keep up with that.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed for him.  The Lord Chief Justice himself is presiding.  Three Judges in all.

However I might not be able to catch either because Aimee is coming over at some point today, and she wont be interested in either as live events.  She will be quite happy to catch up on how both went later.

You should have got Aimee to deliver the card for you Sandy. You did remind me that I have my brother's card sitting here waiting for me to deliver it though. His isn't until Monday so I have time.

I only heard the "highlights" of Boris's speech and a decision on Tommy Robinson was reserved until the end of the month I gather.

Susan I have sent you a PM, go to your message box.

Tommy Robinson Susan is an activist here in the UK trying to fight for the establishment to catch and punish Muslim child rape gangs which they have ignored for at least 15 years in a massive cover up.  He is at the moment a political prisoner.

Aimee and I ended up going over there yesterday Wendy to take Ted a little pressie from me and cards from all of us.

I ended up having to read Boris's speech as I was out at midday.

As for Tommy, the decision could come back any day.  The Lord Chief Justice said that they definitely want to make a decision before the end of the month though.

Tommy had Ezra Levant tweeting out everything that was being said in court on Twitter as it was being said.  I was able to keep up with that throughout the case on my phone while I was out with Aimee.   It looks very hopeful.  In case you don't know Ezra, he is a Canadian Journalist for Rebel Media.  One of the alternative news channels in Canada.

I've just done my usual today.  Computer, Youtube, sewing, walking with Louie, and cups of tea with Charlie.

Tomorrow Aimee and I are visiting Barbara and Beverley.

Just gone onto lunch time so having a short break from house work and catching up here.

Sandy I only got a glimpse of what's going on in the UK in regards to Tommy and Boris.

I'm looking/listening to all this political upheaval and lately it's been the UK and USA that trumped (lol) the news bulletins.
Seriously though ... I'm over the whole circus and finger pointing and back stabbing/crawling from all politicians.

My blood pressure is great and I intend to keep it that way. Wink

We're having bad weather so after this post I am going to sit back and put a good tv show or movie on and forget the rest of the day.

Hope all are having a decent weekend and that you enjoyed to lazy afternoon Martha.

Aimee and I stayed a lot longer at Beverley's yesterday than I thought we would.  I left it to Aimee to call an end to the time we left.  Louie also had a whale of a time over there, as he normally does.

I asked Beverley if she had managed to get me a couple of second hand sheets and she said "I have done one better" and she brought out two bales of brand new material, each 12 yards long. Both dark green with one bale being a very shimery material and the other being plain cotton mix.  You can imagine how pleased I was with them.

I'm getting quite a bit of material stored now so I've had to had a bit of a change around for cupboard space to start storing it.  I"ve started doing that today.

It's still so blasted hot here that I now can't wait for a break in the weather and to get some rain.  I think we went onto hose pipe bans down here this week too.  Not that that affects me because I don't need to use a hose pipe.

I managed to get a bit of the rearranging of my material into some sort of storage.  My living area was looking a bit cluttered with it all.  I now have the material and sewing machine all together in one place.

I've packed all my Filofaxes away as I haven't played at doing anything with them for a while.  I know just have out the ones I am actually using.

I have several second hand sheets that need to go through the wash, as although clean they do have that second hand shop musky smell.

I have to clean my bathroom thoroughly today as I have a cracked window and the chap coming to replace it phoned me Friday to say he will pop in and measure it tomorrow.  Not that my bathroom is that grubby, but it has to be given a good spring clean down at some point so might as well do it now.

Just got back from a short walk with Louie.  It was beautifully cool when we left out but went up by about 4 degs by the time we got back.

My visitors have left but I'm just chilling out for the rest of the day. I need to get stuck into some cleaning tomorrow though and that includes the bathroom.

Sounds like Beverley got you a real find Sandy. Do you know what you'll use the green for yet?

It's cooled off quite a bit here now. The odd drizzly shower but nowhere near enough rain yet. Cloudy and about 21C. Much better for getting some sleep too because it dropped to about 11C last night.

Nice sunny Sunday , 20c, but climbing to 25c that feels like 28c,   not good , humidity high , best get all fans going now . I am sore all over , feel old , body dragging .Can't hack the meds he is given me, oh boy. I did try them  all , and all have tremendous side effects   *Even Tylenol does not sit good with me , but taking it *.

Sandy:  Wow, you sure got a nice lot of Material now , depending on what one uses green for , I like certain shades of green very much   , have fun with it . And hope your bathroom window gets fixed OK, glad Louie had such a good time  . Don't work to hard over the bathroom, keep some energy .

Whisper: Sounds like the visitors left a mess behind, have fun cleaning that bathroom ..... Your weather sounds better now , ours is heading back up .

I know they're messy so I purposely didn't bother cleaning it before they came. lol I've cleaned upstairs and been to the post office to mail some overseas stuff and now I'm shattered. Need a sit down and a coffee. My sister is cutting and colouring my hair for me after we have lunch together. Apart from that nothing exciting happening.

PostSubject: Re: Spring & Summer Chit Chat   23/07/18, 11:48 am

The met office have issued a warning that from now until Friday to as much as possible stay out of the sun and keep as cool as possible indoors.

I'm so pleased I decided to grow my hair and don't have to put up with all the bother of cutting it on a regular basis.

As for the green material Wendy, I'm not a green person for wearing, but I do intend to make a skirt or two out of it for a start.  The two mixed together would make an amazing evening gown or cocktail dress, but as I don't go anywhere to wear either of those, I will just use it as I think of something that I can use.

I'm sitting here at the moment, wondering whether to make a start on the planned kaftan or make a skirt with some blue material I have.  I really do need some new maxi skirts as all those I have now I have worn into the ground and they are looking decidedly ragged.

I've just been down with Louie sitting in the shade in the gardens yacking.  I didn't stay long as any and all conversations with anyone from these blocks is always about those that have recently died in the blocks or all the ailments of themselves and anyone else they know.  It's so sodding depressing.   The only people I have any decent conversation with now is either Charlie or Aimee.

Max, next door, said to me the other day that he can't wait to get back to Ireland.  That living in these blocks is terrific for the actual accomodation, but that one is constantly aware of all the illness and deaths that are going on around us, because everyone is so old and that it's so depressing.  It's very true.

My girls are moving today.  I hope that all goes well for them.  They are all very excited about it.  Aimee and Jess drove me passed their new house the other day to show me.  We had to pass the end of the road anyway on our way to New Milton.  It's right opposite a church (Catholic) and in a very nice road.  I didn't take note of the number or even the name of the road though so still don't really know their new address.

Whilst I have been typing this I have made a decision.  Lunch then make a start on a skirt.

Beautiful day here, but way to hot to suit me .20c now, climbing to 26c that feels like 28c do to the high humidity and high air pressure . Not sure if high air pressure has an affect on us, but I do think it does  mostly on our bones I think .

Sitting here very carefully , quickly dropping a few lines .   We have the roofers starting today, can hardly wait till all the banging starts ....yuk ....lol . All this heat , and then the bang bang bang, oh wow, what fun this will be .....lol  My son is up north at present, so can't go visit him .

Sandy: Well, green is a touchy colour , only few people can wear it  . My first husband send me some dark blackish silvery  green  from Thailand one time , it was just so beautiful , I made a long dress , with a shawl collar and sleveless  , turned out perfect, but .... where to wear it ... , I wore it 3 times , and then sold it to a lady very cheap ...

He also sent me some light olive material with tiny leaves embossed in it , it was  matt finish  the leaves were shiny .  Loved the    beautiful dress I had made out of it , wore it for years , then gave it away . I do not sew now  .

Hope the girls will enjoy their new place , wishing them good luck .

Whisper:  yes , you fortunate lady who has a sister to do your hair , enjoy .

oh i didnt' know that, i'll have to remember it in the future...

no worries on the prying...

hort is short for horticulture.....i belong to my local one, and i'm going to the annual provincial convention this coming weekend....i just touched base with the lady i'm traveling with, we'll go by taxi to get the train, usually we'd go by subway, but she said she's traveled downtown recently and the construction is horendous...her words, so...but i do know, there's construction all over the place,

we like to say we have two seasons here in canada, winter and contruction season...lol

i'm going to a meeting tonight, whether or not we're going to get another condo on the lake shore, heck even though i live in one, i don't want more and this one can be dangerous, because of parking issues, so.....

and i'm still trying to process there was yet another jerk here that had to kill people.......so..

Now this is astounding Press News .

Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) director obtained information that Global Affairs Canada spent more than $24,600 on 86 cushions for the Canadian embassy when they were in Mexico City back in 2016.

OMG, that is $ 286.00 per Pillow ??   There were pictures of the Pillows, just plain coloured Pillows , I hope this is not true, our tax money is needed for other things, and not these costly Pillows .

Those are not cheap pillows!

Good luck with the skirt Sandy and I hope the girls' move goes smoothly.

It's supposed to warm up again here tomorrow but we have light rain and 21C today. The rain hasn't arrived yet but hopefully we will get some.

Sounds like you used to sew some beautiful clothes Geru. I was blessed with ten thumbs when it comes to sewing. lol

I need to clean downstairs if I ever get moving this morning and then I'll visit my brother after lunch.

The material was probably given away in the first place because it was green Geru.  As you say, "It's a touchy colour" - I'm determined to use it for something though.  I will think of something.

It's such a shame that you are such a good dressmaker and yet have given it up.  Although I have to admit that it's been many, many years since I picked up the needle again.  I was making my own clothes from the age of 14 because I loved it so much.

I have no idea why your other profile wouldn't work Susan, I went into the settings and there was nothing wrong.  I can only think you must have been using the wrong password.  It's a shame because you had built up a lot of posts etc on that one.  If you want to try again to use it please do.  If you don't want to continue using it instead of this one with the 28 on the end let me know and I will delete it.

I"m not at all surprised regarding the pillows Geru.  Our governments simply throw away our money.  It's indecent.

I've not heard from the girls yet, so I"m assuming they are now in and settled.

I've just been out quickly, keeping in the shade, to give Louie a little fresh air before the heat builds up.  And believe it or not, I have finally taken off my long skirts and put a pair of knee length shorts on.  My neighbours are going to be rather surprised me thinks, lol.

I"m just listening to a load of crap coming out of Richard Dawkins mouth.  He is supposed to be one of, if not "The", top intellectual regarding evolution.  He is being asked questions on his beliefs.  This is what he is saying.

1) We have no idea how the universe came into being as we can't prove it yet.  It's all theory at the moment.

2) All religions are ok except Christianity.  Why?  Because Christians believes in creationalism and are teaching that to their children which is dangerous.

3) It's possible that aliens of superior intelligence came to earth and created all life on earth so that could be the higher intelligence that created us.

So basically he is saying that evolution has never been prooved but it's not possible that God created us, but Aliens could have done.

Asked who or what could have created the aliens in order for them to create us, he says that, well they would probably have evolved through evolution.  He couldn't be pinned down on that one because he realised that he had just admitted that they still haven't proved evolution.

So there you have it folks, the scientific explanation for how we were created.  They have no idea how the universe was created, no idea how the earth became habitable for life, and no idea how life was created on earth.  And they are teaching all their scientific theories in all schools as absolute fact.

I"m feeling really sluggish today.  Yesterday I got out the duvet cover I am going to use for a skirt.  Seperated the back from the front, measured, cut the sides straight, and then gave up for the evening.  The material is now laying on my table ready for cutting up to make a start on the actual skirt.  But I honestly don't feel like setting to it at the moment.  So that will probably lay on the table for a few days, cause I'm a lazy marebag.

We have the roofers here today , they started at 7:45 Am . Mad Noise noise noise .  I am on the top floor  , corner suite, and they started with me ...joy joy joy .  I think they will be here for weeks, only 2 guys working , at present removing the old roof cover , Scrrrrrrrape Scrrrrrrrape  , bang band .... lol .

Whisper: how did your hair turn out ? No, I never did do a lot of sewing , but what I made , turned out well , I was to busy with other things . Hope it does not get to hot over there today  , like here , yuk , no air condition .

Sandy:   Richards Dawkins     , top intellectual ?  Evolution talk, interesting , but all religions are  OK , but not Christianity ?   because it teaches creation ?    How silly ,  one can interpret this any way you  want. But they did do some important research in CERN . Nothing is really proven yet , our expanding Universe may rip apart at any given moment they tell us , or expand on and on and on ??   Scary stuff when  you really think about it all.   Sometimes I think the idea of Heaven is a safe haven for the wondering mind .
Ps. good luck with the sewing project .

PPS:  just found this ; It is six years ago that the discovery of the Higgs boson was announced, to great fanfare in the world’s media, as a crowning success of CERN’s Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The excitement of those days now seems a distant memory, replaced by a growing sense of disappointment at the lack of any major discovery thereafter.

Was it not thought , that the Higgs boson was responsible for it all ?   They called it the * God particle * then .

And , in about 4 billion years , our twin Galaxy Andromedia , will collide with our Milky way   , they will eventually merge , our solar system will survive it read , but of course the sun will burn out in 5 billion years ....  in it's last stages most likely will swallow the earth because of its size .. End of story for us .  So why wonder and battle our brains ????
