I too need an eye check up to keep track on how my left eye is doing in regards to the Glaucoma. Must ring them today and make that appointment.

Meeting up with Jeremy today so I can give him some Dutch yummy goodies Smile and my home baked Dutch apple, cinnamon cake.
Did a lot of cooking so will also bring him some small meals he can have for lunch.
He now has 3 jobs plus is doing his final assignment for University. He doesn't have time to scratch himself so we meet up whenever he has half an hour to spare.
He now has 2 jobs in the IT and computer electronics/programming business which is wonderful and ones he knows his latest job is permanent he will quit his life saver's job. That will then free up his weekends.

Natasja had her mother and sister in law over from the UK so when they leave we are having a coffee and catch up again too. Natasja and Andy are off to Vietnam on the 2nd of September for 3 weeks. Not sure yet if they need me to house sit while they're away or if their dog goes to my ex for those 3 weeks.

Catherine is busy working and doing a special course for work as well and her partner works away a lot so I see them whenever they too have a spare slot.

Not complaining though as my 3 have great jobs; are in happy and healthy relationships and are all doing very well.

That's so bloody frustrating having to wait in for parcels and they don't come.  It takes two good days out of one's life when waiting for packages like that.

I too am lucky with my girls.  They all are working, have decent social lives and are now settled in their new home.

I was actually very surprised this week.  Sarah and Martyn made a special point of coming to visit for a short while on Monday.  No idea what caused that.  Although I suspect it was only because they had been to visit Martyn's Mum, and then Sarah probably thought, we should pop in on Mum.

I had my yearly visit to the Doctors yesterday.  Now have to nip to the hospital at some point for my usual blood test.

I've been having a lot of trouble with my left eye too Martha which I told the Doctor about.  My vision is so very bad now, that I can barely see to read or look at the comp screen.  Getting pains in it too.  So it's off for another eye test asap.

When Sarah and Martyn came in on Monday they bought Louie a sort of crocodile toy that was edible, and of course he ate the lot in more or less one go.  All day yesterday he was crapping bright pink.  It was foul trying to pick up pink runs from grass.  I was having to tear up chuncks of sod with it to make sure I got it all.  I text Sarah to say "No more crocodiles".

Peeing with rain here today, but I'm not sorry.  We do need rain but also it's so much cooler.  That heat was really doing me up like a kipper.

I need to get moving today. I have to go and sort out my prescriptions, do the grocery shop and then I'm on a hunt for an outfit to wear to my nephew's wedding in three weeks time. I really hate shopping and new clothes are the worst. I also need to tackle my ISP who are raising prices for the third time this year. It's 8% this time. I think I'm going to be shopping around for a new provider soon. More hassle.

it has cooled down , thank goodness, but no rain in sight , but it will go up again

My parcel finally arrived today , 3 days of waiting , staying home and waiting , if you are not home , they wont't leave it .  This is only 1/2 of order , the other half comes next week, and God only knows when . I will never order from this company again .

Whisper: Good luck with the outfit buying , I hate things like that too.  And yes, All ISP are getting greedy , because they can't sell their pkg programs any more, folks are all streaming , but they need Internet for that . Mine just went up again too ....grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Martha: Dutch apple cinnamon cake, ?  save me some .... lol

Sandy:  I got a chuckle out of the crocodile story ....OMG

See you later alligators ........

Our electric and gas went up per July 1st. My internet is locked in so no price hikes there.

It's a never ending story isn't it with all the price increases. Yet when it comes to income increases they never match that so called index %. I don't mind paying a little more if the services where better or where improved, but the opposite is happening.

I'm having a catch up day here. Catching up on washing, cleaning and anything else I can think of.

Better get moving again otherwise it won't get done.

I'm being lazy but I did haggle a new deal with my ISP so including the price hike I'll now be paying £5 a month less than I have been doing. Not a fortune but at least it's going down and not up so I'm satisfied with that.

Also managed to find a decent outfit which I bought with vouchers my GD bought me for my birthday two years ago so I didn't spend a penny of my own money. lol Two good results so I'm treating myself to a hassle free day today.

Weather is not bad 17c  will creep up to 21 c , that feels like 24 , so  a nice day . But we need rain , and there is no rain in the forecast .

Yup our incomes can't keep up with all the price increases ,  who needs all the improvements they keep making  , keeps them all in a job ...yes, but we pay for it . My rent increases every year , and if you move , the landlords paint here and there, maybe put a new rug in some times , and then are allowed to put up the rent by a big big chunk  . and so the world turns .

Whisper :congrats on finding the outfit, and lucky you with a voucher . And you got a reduction with your Internet provider , every penny helps .

Martha: I see you got increases too, it's maddening I tell you .

Got to get my hair washed and set today , that is always a chore , I feel like chopping it all off and go real short , but it won't suit me at all .  Need to do a pedicure too, hard job for me .

Well done Wendy Smile that was brilliant that you could use those vouchers! Here they are only valid for 1 year so that makes your shopping even more brilliant.

I have found when you call the ISP or electric company etc and tell them you are moving to another provider, they are quick on the mark to offer you a better deal.
I did that with my gas company and I  now have 25% discount for 3 years locked in. Laughing

Make sure everyone to read the Message Post that Sandy's grand daughter Aimee posted.

Got it thanks Martha.

A 25% discount for three years is a fantastic deal. Well done you. :D Some store specific vouchers have a time limit here now too but these are ones that can be used at a big variety of shops and as far as I can tell have no expiry date. Not yet anyway.

I'll take your weather Geru. Our heatwave has well and truly gone. A max of 16C again today and it's wet and very windy too. We did need some rain but it's been a bit too enthusiastic with it for the last week.

Soo last week....Friday my husband got a call from someone who no longer drives a bus where my husband does.  He said the company is shutting the doors Monday.  Now I knew nothing about bus companies before Ken went to work there but you can imagine there are bookings up to next year even. So the tour company that Ken drove for a lot, they were scrambling as you can imagine.  They are booked all up to next year.  So in a weeks time, they found a company to lease 2 buses from, they went shopping to buy a bus as well.  Then they called their 3 favorite drivers and offered them jobs, my husband being one.    So he has a job again.  He can drive a lot or as little as he wants.  She is good about letting me go along unless the bus is all sold out.  They have a lot of sale outs so not sure how much Ken will drive and how much I will be able to go along.   But I am grateful for the trips I already have gotten to take. I have been to some really nice places I would of never seen had the owner of Timi's Tours not let me go along.  She is a very generous lady.  Timi is a lady, her mom was named Randi.   She took her whole staff and spouses, (now 3 bus drivers and their wives) to a candle making place yesterday, then out for a Brazilian dinner, it was yummy.  Very generous lady.

So this week is eye surgery and I am ready. I keep having to pick up my computer to see if I spelled/typed everything right. LOL  Good thing it's a laptop. LOL

Tomorrow I have the two older girls, then Tuesday they start school. Wednesday they are coming here before and after school to give them a break from the daycare/latchkey service. I thought they were coming everyday but they were OK going back to Zion Daycare program this year.  So I think they will be spending Tuesday nights with us, so my daughter doesn't have to re-route through here to go to work. but really we are on her way...just a block off the highway, and 5 miles from her home. And the girls can sleep a little later, otherwise they are dropped off 2 hours before school starts at Zion.

Well that was boring..LOL Taking it easy today, I might start a new project in my craft room.  I've made one chandelier I am going to try another, and maybe a painting.  So messy but oh so much fun.. haha

I wish you all a wonderful Sunday!!

Tara hope all goes well with your eye surgery and that you rest nicely afterwards.

Yikes those fires just don't seem to want to be stopped; how horrible for everyone and frustrating for the fire fighters.

Forumotion was down yesterday and for me also the day before, so happy to see I could load it again this morning. Smile

Enjoy your orchids Susan. I have never tried growing them.

It's been down for me too. Worse than that my usual browser is refusing to log me in to several of my sites. It seems to be displaying a mobile mode on the ones it is logging in to as well. Looks like I'm going to be cursing a lot today.

Just had a text reminding me the doc's surgery is closed on Monday (I forgot it's a Bank Holiday) so I need to go down there and sort out the meds I'd planned on sorting out on Monday.

It's going to be one of those days I think.

Forumotion was not down  for me , I just did not feel like talking to myself , lol, so i did not post . But it could be coming any day now for me then .... lol .
I am not having a good summer , first there was this drastic noise to put up with for 3 weeks , from getting a new roof put on ,while it was so hot too, and now .... all of August so far it's been a lot of noise from having the suite below me all re-done  headbang

Martha:  The fires are causing bad bad air here , my eyes burned like fires last evening , you could smell nothing but burning wood , it was coming in to the building via fresh air intake ducts .    OH boy . I don't see how the fire fighters can stand being near it , one must take their hat off to them !!

Whisper:  Hope you don't have to curse to much today .... lol, internet and our modern gadgets drive us crazy some times .  Lets hope you get your meds sorted out today , good luck with everything .

Thanks Geru. Meds are sorted and I even tamed the browser. That was much more difficult than the doc. I ended up having to start again from scratch once I got it working. All settings were gone including a lot of user scripts I had to find and download again. Turned out the culprit was my adaware program. It took exception to something and deleted the lot. Very strange. I've used both for years and had no issues before. If it does it again my language will not be ladylike. lol

No fires here now fortunately. The rain came at the right time to prevent the moors fires reigniting which is good. The rain is a bit too enthusiastic for me this week though. Heavy rain and a max temp of 13C today. I got wet doing the grocery shop and a couple of other errands. A shock to the system after the heatwave we had not long ago.

sunnyI can see a bit of sun again, smoke seems to be drifting the other way now , it has cooled down too, thank goodness , but still no rain and we need it bad  . 16c here and going up to feel like 21c it says .

Whisper: glad you got everything sorted out again and working . To bad about getting all that rain though, to much all at once is not good , drastic change is hard on our systems , get the rain gear out  , but surely fall is coming and you will enjoy some nice days then .

Have a great day .

My goodness, those wildfires just don't stop.  The company my husband is going to work, for now, they flew to Alaska to bring a bus home they are leasing.  They had to go around some wildfires and it added 500 miles to their trip, but the poor firemen. He posted a pic of the tent city they are all living in.  Bless those people.

My eye is doing pretty well, The pain is not much.  I was blind in the dark at first but its getting better.  I can see my computer again without holding it up to my face.  I have to wear a cover on my eye at night and take drops 4 times a day.   I've been lounging around watching TV but I had to go back to the Dr yesterday morning early, and I felt pretty good so we went to 2 Dollar Trees and I found some things I had been looking for.  We also got a few groceries and then came home I was tired. Well after we had lunch.

I hate shopping for clothes too, I really hate trying on.  One time I had a short time to find a dress for a class reunion and my BFF just kept grabbing dresses and hanging them up for me.  It was really nice that way and I found a dress right away.  I loved that dress, still have it even though it no longer fits.  Too big   yea right!!!
It rained a lot here yesterday too, Hubby bought a new riding lawnmower and its been raining since. He hasn't gotten to use it. LOL  This is the FIRST new rider he has ever had in 44 yrs of marriage.  He has only had one new push mower too, the kids bought that for him for Fathers Day. LOL He has always bought some used one and worked on it.   He felt so guilty Monday when he went to buy it. I said my goodness all the hard work he had done over the years, you surely can enjoy this. I think it made him feel better.   I was also glad he got a John Deere it was what he wanted and it cost more but so what. He always makes sure I have things I want.
So it is cooler here too, but suppose to get hot again Monday.  I have to go back to the Drs on Wednesday morning and be there at 745 and it takes about an hour, then you have to account for rush hour traffic, it's in St. Louis and we live on the East side if you are familiar with this area at all.

So nice chatting, and take care, everyone!!

We are overcast here today , it has cooled nicely  to 16c , still smokey but nothing like it was the other evening , it smelled like the fires were pretty close , but it was only the wind had shifted and blowing it our way .

Tara:  I am sooooo surprised to see you here already, you must have been a candidate for laser surgery ?  Take good care, most people do not go near a computer for some time I hear tell .   So glad it's over for you . That is a very very early appointment for Monday with you Dr, and  then the rush hr traffic too, take good care .

And hubby got a new John Deere ?  How great !!!..... those things are wonderful, I do hope he gets to enjoy it real soon , he deserves it as you say , he works hard .

yup , those Firefighters .... I feel sorry for them .... take my hats off to them , don't know how they can manage , but they do  . Yes I saw a picture on the net of their tent city were they have to sleep . Don't know why they don't use the Army men to help with the fires , they get paid already , why not use them  , with all these many fires we are having this year.

Ok, got to get out of here, have a nice day .

I also absolutely despise shopping for clothes.  Not only is it the looking around for something but the time spent trying the bloody things on.

We also had a very rare occurrence the other evening when our electricity went out through bad weather.  Somewhere must have been struck by lightening.  They fixed it all within a couple of hours though, but at the time half of the village went out.  Goodness that was so boring.  Too dark to read, no tele and of course not web even if I had been able to go on it, which I wasn't because of my eyes.

You've just given me an idea Wendy.  Because I couldn't think of a decent pressie to buy Sarah for her birthday, I suggested that I take everyone out for a meal on Monday, which is her actual birthday, but I also wanted to give her something to open on the day.  I wouldn't normally give vouchers, but I don't know if you have heard of Edinburgh Wool Mill, an expensive shop that Sarah loves but can never afford to pay their prices.  I will ring them up when I get off of here and see if they do their own vouchers.

Good about your Hubby's job Tara, and so pleased the eye surgery is over and done with for you.

I haven't done a lot this last couple of weeks.  Watching old Supernatural videos and other rubbish mostly, sometimes with my glasses on and and sometimes, half blind with them off.

Washing and housework for me today.

Sunny morning here, 15c , rising to 21c later that feels like 23c , humidity still fairly high , should turn out not to be a bad day weather wise .

Got happy news this morning .....was fighting to get talking with my ISP all day yesterday , how frustrating , wait wait wait . Had some luck this morning , by trying another way around to get at what I really wanted .... lol, finally some one talked to me ... OMG . headbang
So , ended up getting a 20% reduction for my  pkg , with no price change for 2 years , and getting 11 New channels for free to boot , for the 2 years .  Hurray , so thanks Martha for the tip you gave me  on.........* try and threaten to cancel* and they will hop on the ball, and they did .

Sandy:  I bet you are glad you are back on the lights ... lol , gosh , one never missed the water till the well goes dry they say.
Take good care , don't over due with the eyes ,
Wish they had a good wool shop around here , but then I most likely would not be able to afford the good stuff either ... lol . I like Bernard cotton yarn to crochet with , but even that is expensive now days .
I am not happy with the new glasses I had gotten a year ago at all, my old ones work much better , not going back to the same shop for sure .

Ok, must get in the shower now , see you later .
