Hi Geru. Charlie is a godsend and she doesn't have to put up with living with him which is usually the drawback. lol Sounds like you're getting sorted indoors and out Sandy. The scooter will give you that independence back even if it is old and a bit slow. (It would match me.) Gives you a chance to save and by then you'll have more idea what you need from one. My brother didn't know there were even 6mph ones. He thought they went from the max of 4 on pavements straight to 8. If he had a 4 previously then that would explain why it struggled on hills. It could be that all 8mph ones cope fine with them.

Yesterday was a year since mum died and I got some lovely messages which of course had me in tears.  I still sometimes pick up the phone to tell her something before I remember. In some ways it seems like yesterday still.

Charlie is the site's carpenter and handy man Geru, along with being a happily married man.  He is paid to not only help refurbish the flats but also help out us residents as and when we need anything, as are all the other chaps working on site such as the electrician and plumber, etc.  It just so happens that all the jobs I have needed doing has required a chippy, although I have had to have Steve the plumber come in a couple of times.  The only difference with Charlie is he also comes in just for a cuppa tea and a chat if he is on this site and not just to do the odd jobs I need doing.

This afternoon Aimee and I went to the Regent Theatre to watch a live feed of a stage production from a London theatre, not sure which one, of The Importance of Being Ernest.  I had seen the play before oh so many years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it as much as the last time.  It's so hilarious.  Aimee was laughing her head off in so many places.

Jess and Adam came over this evening bringing KFC with them.  I just had some chips as I had been eating cakes so wasn't hungry.  Jess helped me sort all of my clothes down to the bare essentials.  My wardrobes are now empty and ready to be dismantled ready for when Charlie gets back from his days off next week and take them away to the dump.  No idea what day he will be free for that though.

I understand now Wendy about it being the 4mph not being great on hills and Brother swapping it in for an 8mph.

The flat is once again in a mess from this evening's sorting out but I have the whole of tomorrow to clear all that away in temporary places and the weekend to actually clean the flat, ready for a fresh start Monday.

I'm so close to the end now.

So nice to see you popping in Sally.  I hope all is well with you.

Hi everyone.

Wendy, sending warm thoughts your way
re the memory of losing your mother.

Sandy,
You are so lucky to have Charlie
who helps the people who live there.

A sunny Autumn day. (Though chilly)
My husband and I are making a homemade soup
with carrots, zucchini squash, turnips, onions, celery,
chicken and lots of spices.

Hope everyone has a lovely rest of the day!

Hi Susan and Kerri.

That soup sounds wonderful Kerri, and yes I/we are lucky to have Charlie.  I don't know how I would have got anything done without him.  No job is too small for him to pop in and do.

I haven't done much today except tidied up from the mess left from sorting out last night with Jess, and I also caught up on some needed sleep this afternoon.

Really high winds all day so only popped out for a quick walk with Louie as he so hates the wind.  My plans originally for today was to test him out on the scooter.  Not that we would have gone far because of not being sure of the batteries yet, but at least I could have seen if he would behave himself on it.  Maybe tomorrow.....

Thank-you Kerri. Smile

Awful winds and heavy rain here too. The worst was supposed to be over by last night but someone forgot to tell Mother Nature that. I have visitors arriving soon for the weekend so probably won't be around tomorrow.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow Sandy. I'm sure Louie will be fine with the scooter since he's already used to the trike.

I ended up taking Louie out on the scooter for a quick ride around as the wind dropped and the sun came out for a short time yesterday afternoon.

I had him sitting on my lap but he was attached to me in the way an over the shoulder bag would be.  I had a detachable strap in my wardrobe from one of my bags that I never use on it, prefering to use the bag just as a hand bag.  So instead of having it attached to each end of a handbag, it's now attached to each side of Louie's harness.  So I am sort of wearing him like a handbag, lol.  He is perfectly safe, and can move from my lap to sit beside me with no fear of him jumping or falling off.  Not a perfect solution but will do until I can get something else sorted.

I wiped my keyboard over this morning to give it a clean and disinfect and now I have the curser involuntarily jumping all over the place along with dictionary pages popping up willy nilly.  I have no idea how to calm the whole bloody screen down.

The sun is out ,feels a bit cool , but it's 13c rising to 17c it says , nice fall day I guess .
Got to answer a bunch of emails today , been procrastinating . Did manage to get my hair coloured yesterday , but the tea get together was delayed to another day .

Sandy: what a good idea on how to transport Louie on your scooter , need is the mother of invention they say ....hope that curser calms down for you , not fun , I have no idea how you could fix that , sorry maybe a small bit of dirt got wedged in some place and doing all this ? Examen around each key maybe .

See you later

Visitors have gone and the wind has died down thankfully. Just raining and a chilly 7C right now. Meant to rise to 11C later.

It's a good job you don't own a Newfoundland Sandy. lol

The cursor thing usually is a bit of dirt or even water. Is it still doing it?

I need to get moving this morning and clean upstairs. Lunch with my sister later and probably having my hair cut and coloured if she remembers the colour. If not it'll be next week.

Just pictured myself with a Newfoundland sitting on my lap as I ride along.  Terrifying image, lol.

Cursor stopped bouncing around after about an hour or so and of my switching on and off a couple of times.

Not a lot happening for me today.  Didn't feel like doing much.  Not that there is much to do at the moment until the wardrobes are moved out.  I'm hoping Charlie will pop in sometime tomorrow so I can arrange for him to do that as soon as possible.

I had my colour done but not the cut. The colour was already on when my sister realised she'd left her scissors at home after cutting her daughter's hair. Not a big deal since it's not covering my eyes yet. lol

Chilly and damp this morning. I'm cleaning downstairs and then going up to my brother's later. Waiting to hear when my youngest brother and his mate will be collecting two armchairs from my house and taking them to my eldest brother's house. I won't know what to do with all the space once they're gone. They were mum's and virtually new along with a very expensive recliner. He's only got room for two so I'm keeping that one. I've had an extra suite in my lounge for a year without it even looking cluttered so it's going to look quite empty for a while. He could have had them a year ago but he's only recently rearranged his furniture and got rid of a sofa. He basically lives on the ground floor of his house now apart from the bathroom. Works well after a few adaptations. Unfortunately there isn't room to add a downstairs bathroom as well as his bedroom but he prefers it to having to move to a bungalow..

sunny and clear ,12c rising to 17c , so i nice fall day . The leaves are making a big
mess now .  I keep seeing leaf blowers making a lot of noise blowing the leaves off the lawn on to the street ... lol, first gush of wind, and there all back on the lawns , what a waste of time . Not one thinks to get rid of them it seems, just blow them around Shocked

Sandy: glad the Cursor settled down for you , frustrating when that happens . Hope Charlie will get your wardrobe all moved out for you , so you can go on with your plans for your place .

Have a wonderful time Kerri. I bet you were very worried during Hurricane Michael that it might get cancelled.

I'm just back from my doctor's appt which was to discuss a change of meds.. He decided he wanted a load of blood tests as well so I had to wait another 45 mins until a nurse was free to do those. He was all for sending me back to the spinal clinic to discuss injections into the facet joints. I persuaded him to try some different meds first. lol Ended up costing me £17.60 for two lots, one of which will only last two weeks. I'm not amused.

Also my blood pressure is way too high. The nurse is going to take it again next week when I go for my B12 shot. If it's still that high I'll have to wear a silly 24 hour monitor to see whether it's staying high or fluctuating a lot. Whenever I have it taken the readings are all over the place but this morning' put me into Stage 2 hypertension. Just what I need!

Ain't getting old just grand? lol

My sister sent me a nice long email yesterday , always good to receive family news .

Otherwise not  much new here  except that usual * extra extra, read all about it * !!!

Whisper:  No doubt your blood pressure would be up being in the Dr 's office ,and then hearing all that medical stuff they wanted to do .   Good for you for trying the meds first , keeping my fingers crossed for you ,get better soon .   I love you

Kerri;  Have fun at your daughters wedding , hope the weather stays good for you .

Oh heck Wendy.  I hope the new pills work for you.  It just gets worse and worse as one gets older.  Health is the only thing stopping us from old age being the best years of our life me thinks.

Even my good days have me stressed and worried because I think to myself, this is too good to be true, some more shite must be just around the corner.  I hope your blood pressure settles down and the reading this time was just a one off.

Have a wonderful time in Florida Kerri.  I hope the wedding goes wonderfully well.

We have so many squirrels around here Geru.  Louie sits up at the window, laying across the back of the sofa, most evenings watching them playing outside.  We aren't getting as many rabbits this year, but I think it's because a new, bloody huge fox has moved into the area.  We were free of a fox last year, because I think the old one we had around here must have died.

There was a magnificent moon outside last night.  It was so close it looked as if a huge decoration had been hung in the sky and could almost be reached up and touched.

Gorgeous day today.  I'm expecting delivery of a table/desk today, and as soon as that's arrived Louie and I are going to take a ride out on the scooter, going a little further today.  I'm still testing the distance those batteries will take me before attempting the trip to Barbara's or into Christchurch proper.  Both are more or less the same distance away from me.

I'm also expecting a few bits to arrive for the scooter too.  A rear view mirror (to make it road legal) and a couple of bits for rainy days.

I sent off the tax registration form, but the form is so complicated to fill in just for mobility scooters that it could be sent back to me as incomplete.

It's the same form that one fills in for cars, passenger, and all other vehicles.  One has to go through everything filling in only what applied to ones own vehicle leaving everything else blank.  I have no bloody idea what applied to just M. scooters.

Margaret along the corridor has never registered hers.  She had no idea you had to.  So her and I discuss what we each thought had to be filled in and she sent one off too.  You would think that for mobility scooters that simply go no faster than 8mph they would have by now produced a separate form for.  When you think how old a lot of people are that are filling them in.  I'm sure most of them have to get help with it.  When you buy a brand new one, the shop fills the first one in for you, but if your first is 2nd hand then you have no bloody idea what details they want and what they don't.

Still, if they send it back demanding more details, I will know next time what's needed.  You still have to apply for tax every year the same as for cars etc.  In the meantime, it's really only legal for pavements at 4mph.

The empty wardrobes went yesterday and Charlie put two extra shelves in my shelving unit for me.  Once the table/desk arrives this morning I will be able to put that up and with a little more time rearranging bits I should be all tidy and sorted.

Louie and I had our little ride out on the scooter again.  We went a little further today.  I'm still testing the distance those batteries will take me before attempting the trip to Barbara's or into Christchurch.   Both are more or less the same distance away from me.  New Milton is a little nearer, so I might do that first before Burton or Christchurch.  I do not want to get stuck miles from home and find the battery dead.

I then spent a couple of hours outside, washing, disinfecting, and oiling moving parts of the scooter, along with chatting to several of the neighbours that stopped to check out my new, "FREE" transport.  At one point there were 3 scooters and 5 neighbours outside with me.   The chap from upstairs went over and brought his really large one over from the scooter sheds and I had a go on it.  My word it's got some welly.  It did cost him £4500 though so one would expect it to have some welly.  I have just got to save up for one as good as that.

My scooter came up really lovely with all the spit and polish I gave it and one would never guess it was so old.

Louie and I did another run out on it in the afternoon, this time along the cliff tops.  I also tested him running along side it.  He really loves it.  I must sort out a better way for him to travel on it though rather than him sitting on my lap.

The rain cover for it came today.  Rain cover as in it covers both myself and scooter for going out in heavy rain and the cover for just the just the handle bars to protect the electrics in a shower also arrived.

Table/desk arrived dead on time and I put that up between the times I was playing with the scooter.   I wasn't going to do any more work in the house this evening planning to do it all tomorrow, but I was still feeling energetic so spent another hour or so on that so that I don't have to get up tomorrow and start on it again.

lol I love the free bit Sandy. By the time you've finished adding bits and bobs it will have cost a fair bit.  Still if Louie likes it and it gets you out and about it's well worth it. You've got me wondering about my brother and his daughter now when it comes to registration. I'll have to ask whether theirs are or not.

A parcel arrived on time! Someone is smiling on you.

I woke up late this morning. I can't remember the last time I did that. Either I really needed it or these new meds make good sleeping pills too. Fingers crossed they serve the purpose they're meant for. I've only taken two so far so too soon to tell. Once I've brushed the cat and done a few chores I'm going to have a binge watch of Luther. I didn't watch it when it first aired for some reason so I thought I'd watch the first series and see if I enjoy it. Sounds like my kind of show.

So far I have spent £47:50 on bits for it.  But the good news is that those bits will also serve any new scooter I buy in the future.  So the money isn't wasted.

If your Brother and Niece bought their scooters brand new, then the shop they bought them from would have sent the initial registration details to the DVLA.  But just like car tax it does need to be done yearly so your Brother and Niece will have to do that themselves.   I have no idea though if we get a reminder for that.

Enjoy your Luther.

Finally!  Everything is now put away in it's own little spot.  I finished the last bits this morning.  I do still have more sorting out to do by way of photographs and paperwork, but all that can be done leisurely at a later date when I get the urge.

Now I need to catch up on the deep cleaning that I have been neglecting this last couple of weeks.  Although if the sun happens to shine on any given day, that also will be put back to "later".  I think I need to make the most of any decent days that we might have for the rest of the Autumn.

I had to laugh this morning.  I glanced under my desk and found Louie laying in one of his toy boxes.  He's never done that before.  I'm wondering if it's either because he doesn't like where I now have his bed or because his toy box is right where I am sitting when on the comp.  I would put his bed there but there isn't enough room for it.

I've got rather friendly with Margaret at 5C.  A bit of a strange one, and her dog drives me loopy with his constant barking when trying to talk to her, plus she is rather deaf which makes conversation difficult, but she seems to be good company in short bursts.

She came into mine for the first time this afternoon and we found enough to chat about for over an hour.

Louie and I had another ride out on the scooter.   I tried to get him to sit on the foot plate instead of on my lap, but it worried him being down there, so back up he came.   I really must sort something out so that he can sit beside me.  When he is on my lap his paws are digging hard into my legs, and that's not at all comfortable.
