I know that feeling Geru. Everyone I still buy birthday or Christmas presents for has a lot more money than me so it's always a dilemma.

It's great that the extras are universal Sandy. Has it not got a basket Louie can ride in? Maybe with all this rearranging he thinks you might get rid of his toy box so he's guarding it. lol

It's been a while since this place had what I'd call a deep clean. The best I can do recently is a vac round and some polishing and clean the bathroom.

It's only got a tiddly little basket in front at the moment, and although there is an extra add on one can buy to put a large basket on the back I never did like him travelling behind me in that on the trike.  Charlie reckons we could figure out something that could allow him to be beside me.  A sort of sidecar if you like, by way of a basket.  I will figure out something eventually I'm sure.

Same here when buying presents.  There was a short time I had money to spare so birthdays and Christmases I was able to be very generous with presents.  Now however all pennies have to be worked out before spending and I now feel mean that I can't spend the amount on people that I used to.

I was really surprised to see Charlie at my door today, it being Sunday, and wanting a cup of tea.  Turns out that he was on a call out in my block.  It seems an old lady died in the night upstairs and when the coroners turned up this morning to collect her body, when taking it down in the lift the lift broke down and the coroner and the old lady were stuck in it.  Charlie was called in to come and sort it out.

I had seen a couple of strangers with a suited man talking outside of my door on the way back from having a cup of tea with Margaret.  Charlie told me they were the Daughter and Son-in-Law with one of the coroners.

How awful for that family.  The Husband is wheel chair bound so stuck upstairs with no lift working, and the rest of the family having to wait downstairs for the lift to be released and their Mum be brought out.  It was the gurney that caused it.  The gurney pushed the lower part of the doors out which caused the mechanism to be interrupted.

I met the Husband outside a little later and didn't let him know that I knew about his wife but let him tell me.  I gave him my card and told him to call me anytime and I will come up for a cup of tea and a chat any time he fancies.  It's going to be really hard for him to suddenly have to start living on his own.

Whisper : hope your feeling OK, and that the meds are still working, don't work to hard cleaning today . I think you might be right about Louie trying to hang on to his toybox .... lol

Sandy:  Newsy write up, but sad, sorry to hear of the death in your complex .   Nice of you to offer some company for the man if he needs it , guess he is in a pretty bad spot right now being wheel chair  bound and all .  Good thing Charlie is around that place  , he is needed for so many things it seems ,.Hope you he can figure out something for Louie's side seat   .

Found my sister a nice silk scarf for her birthday gift and wrote her a long email , chatting about our childhood memoir's from so long ago , hope she  remembers it all and  enjoys it .

Otherwise  still trying to find that yellow brick road .

I'm sure your sister will love it Geru. The memories will have more meaning than anything you can buy I bet.

That is sad Sandy. Not the best way to go out but it's good that Charlie was at hand to fix the lift. I'm sure the gentleman concerned appreciates the offer of company. I hope he takes you up on it when he needs to. People are so reluctant to ask for help but at least he knows you're there if needed. Does his daughter live locally do you know?

Good luck sorting out the "sidecar" for Louie. I'm picturing him now with a motorbike helmet, some goggles and a long scarf blowing in the wind. lol

Nice one on the silk scarf Geru.  I"m sure she will love it.

I do think his Daughter comes often which probably means she is local.  But there maybe times he suddenly feels lonely and would like some company even for just a cup of tea and a chat.  I made it clear that I really meant for him to call me up any time.

It's beginning to get a bit cold now for Louie on the scooter so I'm organising a nice blanket to wrap around us both to keep the chill out as we ride.  Hopefully he will allow himself to stay tuck up warm.

Margaret came in today for a while for a chat and then we both got on our scooters for a ride down to the beach.  Not that we actually wanted to go to the beach but we wanted to test out if my scooter had enough ummph to get back up the hill.  It did.  It actually sailed up it.  I can breath easy now when I go to visit Barbara or Beverley knowing that the scooter will make it back up the long hill from Sainsburys to Highcliffe.

I was thinking of risking the battery lasting to visit Burton maybe Friday.  But when I mentioned to Margaret that I might just try a trip to Sainsburys first she was keen to come down there with me, as since moving to this area she has never been down there.  So a Sainsbury trip might be first and then Burton maybe next week.

I also think I have found out how to turn my scooter into an 8mph one and maybe even faster than that.  I have discovered that the same plug that needed separating on my electric trike to remove the speed limitation on it is the same thing used on scooters.   It's just a matter of finding where in the scooter that plug is hiding.  It's also possible though that if I am able to remove the speed limitations I would need bigger batteries to make sure they lasted at a higher speed doing the same distance.

I was going to try to do that today but it was far too cold to bugger around outside with undoing panels of the scooter to look for the right wire and plug.  I might bring the scooter indoors tomorrow and do it outside my door in the communal area.

Sounds like an exiting scooter day for you and your new found friend Sandy , down to the beach yet ... lol . Good luck with the project of getting it to go 8 km with a better battery etc etc

We had 3 Earthquakes in the  Pacific Ocean not to far from us , and they were shallow and 6.8 , 6.6 , and 6. 5 it read, they are not small ones I tell you . I personally experienced a 6.3 a few years ago , things were rocking pretty good  , scary .

have a great evening , extra , extra..... read all about it ......

Those certainly aren't minor ones Geru. Good that they stayed offshore at least.

Sounds like a good plan if it doesn't drain the battery too quickly Sandy. Nice to have some company on your little jaunts while you test it out. I'm sure Margaret feels the same way too. If it sails up that hill now you'll be flying up it if you adapt it. lol

Wow!  to the earthquakes Geru.  We do have earthquakes here but so mild they can barely be felt.  Although there is the odd one that can cause a spot of bother to buildings.

My plan for speeding up the scooter doesn't work on mine, so back to the drawing board.

I had a horrible shock when getting up and going into my kitchen this morning.  The kitchen and bathroom were full of hot steam and water covering ceiling, walls, and floor.  It was like the Amazon rain forest in there.  I could barely breath with the amount of steam.

At first I thought something had happened in the flat above me as there was so much water pouring down.  It was literally raining hot water on my head.  I then realised it was probably my own immersion heater that had over heated and erupted boiling water and steam.

After ringing the office Charlie was here within 30 minutes to mop up the water and the electrician arrived shortly after to put a new controller in the immersion heater.  This evening I spent washing down all the surfaces, tiles and disinfecting everything in the kitchen that had been dripping with the filthy brown water that the immersion had given out.  My kitchen still feels dirty from it.  Tomorrow I am going to have to climb up and do the tops of the cupboards as you can bet they are foul with it.

Hi everyone Smile I think I have caught up with reading everything you all have been talking about here.
Wow and more wow .... everyone has been busy and had all sorts of stuff happening in their world.

I haven't got much time left right now to even try and respond to any of it so that will have to wait to another time. Going for a massage soon to help my body recoop even better.
Lots has happened here health wise but just can't be bothered typing it all out again. It's posted on my board though.

Sandy you sure have been very busy!! Be careful climbing up on those cupboards!

Oh yuck Sandy. Mind you it's great to get it fixed so quickly and not have to find an emergency electrician and have the expense that entails. Like Martha said be careful climbing up to clean.

I actually think my new meds may be starting to work but I don't want to get too enthusiastic yet. I have an appt in the morning for an injection and another BP reading since it was way too high last week. I'm hoping it's down because otherwise I may not be able to continue with these meds. That would be typical having found something that does actually take the edge off the pain.

I've been over to your board Martha and caught up with what you have been, and are, going through at the moment.  I can't tell you how sorry I am to hear this, but then you would know that.  I do so hope the test results you are waiting for are good news.  It's all such a sodding bummer!

I didn't make it climbing up on the cupboards today.  My insides have been playing me up again for the last week and although they are a lot better today I really didn't fancy exerting myself.  The cupboard tops will have to wait.

I have however been out again today testing to see if the batteries on the scooter are in good condition enough to take me further away from home.  I did a 5 mile round trip today down to Sainsburys with Margaret.  I honestly think the batteries have either been looked after well or are new ones.

I do now have a problem with the ignition unit coming loose on the way home so can't use the scooter again until Charlie has fixed that for me as the key now wont turn.  I'm cheesed off about that because I wanted to nip to New Milton tomorrow.  Now I either have to wait or ride the trike there.  I really don't fancy getting on the trike again though, especially as my insides are already playing me up.  I"m hoping Charlie will find time to do it Friday but there is no telling with him when he can fit me in for my odd jobs.  It's a sort of as and when he has breaks between his jobs for the site.

Quick drop in , not a nice day out , raining some , and dark looking.   Got some jobs lined up for today , and best not linger to long ,most of it is just boring housework .

Whisper;   glad to hear the meds are working , and hope the BP is down some .   Injections you say ?  Are you talking about the spine injections for your arthritis ?

Martha:   Ok, now I understand what happened to you , sorry to hear  , and hope you  will soon feel better , lets all be careful ,

Sandy: Well, it's good you are making headways .... but not you are stalled do to that ignition  unit problem ?  Hope Charlie will find time for fixing this , how great to have him around for all this , you live at  a fantastic complex ,

I'm so pleased it looks like your meds are starting to work for you Wendy.  Fingers crossed you don't have to come off of them if they turn out to be just the right ones.

Charlie fixed the ignition today.  I wasn't expecting him, but seemingly he had one job to do in my block anyway and another in the block next door.

I'm not a happy bunny. The doc wouldn't prescribe any more of the meds I have. Apparently they're not for long term use. I've been on them for a week and have a week's worth left. Hardly long term! He got his receptionist to ring after I got home and tell me that of course. She said he may prescribe one of two others when these run out. Both are useless and one causes liver and kidney damage and is addictive. I think I'll pass.

No Geru. The injection was my regular B12 shot. I have pernicious anaemia. I'm still avoiding the spinal ones unless I get very desperate.

Yay for Charlie. I hope that was in time for your trip to New Milton Sandy.

Another dreary morning here with light rain and chilly temps. Grocery shopping to do and then I'll see how I feel after that.

Oh bloody heck Wendy.  How disappointing, and frustrating.  But it does make me wonder what damage those temporary pills could do long term.

Yeah, I was so pleased to see Charlie yesterday as we have no idea how much longer this dry, mild weather will continue.  I want to make the most of it before the winter really sets in.

It is freezing out there today so I have decided not to make the trip to big Sis.  Instead I am staying in in the warm, doing a bit of housework and then watch tele or read.

They increase the risk of strokes and heart attacks in a minority of people Sandy but they're also known to cause stomach ulcers and bleeding. They're taken with a stomach liner usually. My sister and her daughter have both been on them for three years (without a stomach liner) with no side effects but as with most drugs if you read the possible side effects you wouldn't take anything. The ones she mentioned as an alternative I wouldn't touch with a barge pole.

It's freezing here too. I actually woke up in the night feeling cold which is a real rarity even in this cold house. Usually my thick duvet keeps me toasty. Apparently the Arctic blast is going to last for a few days at least.

It's strange how one Doctor will prescribe the same medication long term that another one wont.

It's even more cold today than yesterday.  The wind is biting come off the sea.  Louie and I didn't stay out long today.  I do have to nip to the top of the road though for some milk.  I forgot to buy some emergency long life cartons in my shopping last time.  I really, really do not want to have to put my coat on and leave the house again.

-----------------------

Oh how wonderful.  As I was writing the above Margaret knocked on my door to say she was going to the shops and did I want anything.  Woo Hoo!  She is now getting my milk for me.

Today I am going to stay in the warm and play with the sewing machine.  I am making a "pocket" for Margaret to carry her keys and purse in on her waist as she was trying yesterday to make one herself after seeing mine, and wasn't having much success so I offered to make her one like mine.

She tells me she is an apalling seamstress and nothing she does turns out right.  Sewing is not her forte.

Cool morning here , it's clouding over now  rain in the forecast for this evening and overnight .

Whisper: sorry to hear about your anaemia , hope the VB shots help. I had one a few month ago , but felt no different afterwards .

Have you tried Voltaren Emulgel  For Joint pain ?  it's a rub in corticosteroid  , a much slower process of course(then the shots ) 1.16 % is the weaker one  ,there is one a bit stronger  if needed . the shots are the same thing ,just heavy dose and work fast , but can crumble the bones

Along with Tylenol for Arthritis  , doses decrease  by age and need  , but don't damage the kidneys , read up on it if you want . Just a thought , you know best what your'e able to take . These heavy duty meds the Doctors prescribe  all have terrible side affect that are  scary I tell you .

Sandy:  I still never found the long life emergency cartons of milk , no one around here carries them , good fortune hit again for you , Margaret helped you out this time , so you could stay home and keep warm  .  But thanks for reminding me to look for an alternative to milk .

Best get going for now , see you later .

Lucky she dropped by Sandy but lucky for her you can sew too.

I've tried most things over the years Geru. Tylenol is called Paracetamol here and is widely used. It can be bought over the counter but has recently been restricted to two small boxes at a time due to a lot of people using it to overdose. Many fail and suffer organ failure instead. Nasty stuff used wrongly. The other one prescribed a lot is Co-codamol. It's a combination of codeine and paracetamol. Again bad for the liver and kidneys long term and also addictive. It's really a case of choosing the least bad of several evils I think.

Very strange they don't sell long life milk over there Geru.  It's so handy because it last for many, many months unopened and doesn't need refridgerating until opened.  Then once opened it's treated as normal milk.

I went out to The Range and Dunelm Mill today with Jess.  They are way over in Bournemouth, but it was nice to get out and visit where I can't go on my own.  One has to have a car to visit those.

I wanted to buy some new cushion covers or even the whole cushion but there was nothing I fancied.  I did buy some new tea cloths though that I needed.

Hi everyone.

A cool but sunny Autumn day here.

Sandy, Good that the scooter can go so far
and be relied on.
Awesome that Charlie got the ignition fixed!

Wendy,
That would be annoying, finding out
you can't get the prescriptions for something
that is actually helping the situation.

Geru,
My sisters live in California
and I've experienced small earthquakes
when visiting.
A little unnerving.

Martha,
So sorry that you are having health issues.
I hope things improve for you.
Sending out white light and positive thoughts your way.

Made Chow Mein for lunch
and hope to relax the rest of the day.

Hope everyone has a lovely rest of the day.

Hi Kerri. Yes it's annoying but I've had my rant and I'm over it now. lol I've been to stay with a friend in California on several occasions. I've never been there when there's been an earthquake but on one trip there were wild fires much too close for comfort. They were out hosing the roof down because of all the sparks and the pool was black the day after. Scary how fast fire moves in dry areas like that.

We're lucky Sandy in that they opened a Range in town a few years ago. It's not as huge as the one a few towns away but big enough that you can find most things.

I just wish more big shops would come back to the high street.  They are all on those big shopping centres now where no buses actually go.  If you don't have a car you are buggered.  It's so annoying.  Although I do it, I hate shopping on the web.  They send the wrong stuff, the wrong colour or the wrong size.

You can't feel how good the quality is or even check the colours as they look different on the web, etc.  I know they are good for returns but we shouldn't have to keep re-parcelling things up then trapsing to the P.O. to send them off, and then on top of that then wait for replacements to arrive.

Well, that's my rant this week, but now I have another one.

Friday my immersion packed up so the office said they would send someone.  Will I be in or is it ok for him to use the key.   I said no not to use the key I would wait in for him because of the dog.  He didn't come.

So today I rang again and they said they would make sure he got here.  I waited and waited but Margaret wanted me to pop along to hers to help her with something.  I put a note on my door saying I'm at 5A.

Came back a short while later and waited another couple of hours.  No man!  I heard the immersion click on to heat the water, but of course for 4 days it's been clicking on but not heating the water.

A short while later I went in to wash my hands and bugger me the water is hot.

Now that means he came in while I wasn't here, and on top of that he didn't even leave me a note to say he had been.  So I am furious he came in without me, and I am also furious that I waited in for an extra 2 hours after he had been because he hadn't let me know he had been.  Too bloody lazy to come along to Margarets or to leave a note.  I honestly hate men.

Just a quick drop in . Weather is damp, raining lightly , some sun now and then, cool 9c.

Interesting men story Sandy , lol, yup , you were not there, so he used his key , God only knows why he did not have time to find 5A ... lol  , well, at least you got hot water now , and that ranting is good , wish there was a place I could rant freely here ...... oh boy  i!!!

Kerri:  so how was your daughters wedding  ?  Hope you enjoyed it .Chow Main is good , love it .

Wendy:  the Range :  Is that a department store ?   They need one here too,  Zeller was bought out by Target , and I loved Target, but behold, they folded after only 2 years .
