Yep, most people think of Chi's as being weenie little dogs, but they can grow to 12" at the shoulder which is their original size.  Louie is just over 10".  I've had a few people question me as to if he is a pure bred because of his size, and are shocked when I tell them them just how big they can be.

Unfortunately because the rich and famous went through a novelty stage of having the tiniest dogs they could for their handbags the chi's were bred smaller and smaller which makes them more delicate.

As for the quotes, at the same time as putting them in my signature I am also recording them on my wall/visitor message pages on this board.  I don't forget them or lose them then.

My first hat will be a practice run.  If I get it right then I might treat myself to some really nice material and hopefully do a professional job on the end result.

My heating is up Sandy by which I mean about 21. My daughter has her house close to 40 which is too much for me.

I like that hat too. Have fun making it. I watched Pride and Prejudice again recently. No idea why. It popped up in the box sets so I thought why not. Thoroughly enjoyed it again too. Her funniest book by far I reckon.

Emma is my absolute favourite but Pride and Prejudice comes an extremely close 2nd.  Photo finish in fact.

I've been playing at making a couple of mop caps over this weekend.  The first one was awful as the brim was too wide.  The second one the brim was still too wide.  But the third turned out amost perfect except somehow I made the crown too big, lol.  Fourth time lucky tomorrow I hope.

This last couple of days I have been risking letting Louie off the lead.  Well, I actually just drop his lead.  1st time we stayed in the back gardens on the way back from our walk, and the second time I risked it when we were on the big field that leads down to the beach.

On the field I started training him with a clicker and treats to come back when called.  And he did.  He even came back when I called him on seeing him heading towards another dog.  But he slipped up a bit as we got back on site.  I'm afraid the squirels were a little bit too interesting, however he did come back on a third call, but after his treat instantly went back to where the last squirel had climbed the tree and attempted to climb up after him.  But all in all I am thrilled with his progress.

Dark and dreary here,  7c , raining lightly . not looking nice out there. A good day to get in to my book reading .

Sandy: I knew that hat would be real hard to do , a big challenge for you , hope the next try will do the trick , keep trying ... I remember the first dress I made , it had a shawl collar , I finally got it right , but needed several tries at it .
Sounds like you are making good progress with training Louie , it will take patients on your part  , but so far you have done well with him by the sounds of it

Wendy:  I don't like my place to hot either ,

Have a great Sunday ..

lol Ignoring squirrels is asking a bit much for a beginner. Sounds like he did pretty well though. Amazing what a bit of bribery can achieve in a short space of time. Good luck with #4 hat.

My visitors actually behaved themselves for a change so I hope that happens again this weekend coming. They did drag me off to a shopping mall a few towns away though. Not my idea of fun especially when the Black Friday sales were on. My back was agony too so I was glad to get home.

I do need to get stuck into some cleaning downstairs this morning before our usual Monday lunch at a friend's.

Oh I haven't even made a start on my summer bonnet yet Geru.  The one I am working on to perfect is a day cap.  At the moment I am using any scraps of material I have to get the style right, ignoring the colour and patterns of said material.  I'm going to have another try today and then will maybe do a post in my Diary on the site with images of how I am doing.

I'm going to drag Louie out of bed in a minute and give him another try off the lead for a little while.  This time if he comes across a dog I am just going to watch what happens and only drag him away if the situation gets out of hand.

Yesterday while off the lead I let him walk indoors where Jackie, the dog next door was laying in the corridor.  Normally I wont let Louie near her but I risked it.  Louie was almost perfect.

He walked passed her by about 3 foot, then decided to slowly go back and get near her.  She is an old dog that just lays there letting people step over her.  Louie got almost within sniffing distance and I calmly said to Loue, with my front door open, "In you go babe" and he did.  He made no attempt to get any closer to Jackie but turned and walked indoors.

I am so excited by him being so good.

I go to the big shops so rarely now Wendy that I quite enjoy the outing.  Mind you my outing to the shops is usually a quick look around the clothing, then a cup of tea and a cake.  Going out with either or both of my girls is really the pleasure and not the actual shopping.

Can't beat the old ways of coats designs I think Sandy. I'm all for comfort and warmth; not pretty but useless design lol.

Last winter I bought a Parka coat at the op shop and am thrilled with it. Not that it gets much use here but I intend to do more road trips and wanted a coat that I could chuck in my car for when it gets cold and the coat had to be comfy and warm. Especially if I want to go down south on trips; it can get rather chilly overnight.

I'm getting my little SUV ready to take on some road trips and that way when the whole xmas, celebrations etc start and it becomes too much for me; I can just hop in my car and take off.

While you are all turning your heating up, we are slowly getting ready for our hot summer.

Oh I do so hope you have fun travelling around.  It might be just what you need.  It's probably been a long horrible winter for you.

We haven't spoken live for a long time now.  Perhaps we need to.

Our weather today has been awful.  Torrential rain and I think we have more of the same tomorrow and Thursday.  It was so bad that Margaret set off out to go to the top of the road shops and 2 minutes later she was back breathless as the wind was so bad she couldn't walk in it, and that's not even mentioning the rain.

I didn't have time to do any sewing today.  Margaret came in for a while this morning, Charlie this afternoon, Jess late afternoon, and between that and catching up on things I needed to do in the home, I didn't find time for playing with the sewing machine.

We're getting that weather now Sandy. Pouring with rain and strong winds. A bit milder but doesn't feel like it in the gales.

That sounds like a great escape plan Martha. I hope you have a great time wherever the mood takes you. Nice to have a new car to do it in.

Sounds like you're not short of visitors Sandy. The sewing will still be there when you get bored.

I'm hibernating today and just catching up on a few chores. I'm glad I don't need to go out anywhere.

I don't blame you for hibernating Wendy.  It's evil down here again as well today.

I am determined to finish two of my on the go projects today.  A skirt and a set of pockets.  Those two are so close to being finished.  I then only have two more started projects to finish before I start a new one.  They two also only need a few minutes spent on them to finish off.

The rain is lighter and the wind has eased thankfully. That was wicked yesterday. Off grocery shopping this morning and then hoping for a day just doing whatever I feel like. Visitors arriving tomorrow for a couple of days so quiet time will be scarce. I'm going to make the most of it.

Did you get your two projects finished Sandy?
