Understanding the Trilogy seems to one of the things that stump people the most.

To understand how Jesus Christ was/is God one really needs to understand The Trilogy and to do that we need to look at ourselves first.

We are made in God's image.  That is, we have a body, a soul and a spirit.

When we die our body either is buried or cremated.  Either way, it returns to dust.  Our spirit (our breath of life) returns directly back to the God Head, the spirit of God.

For those not born again it's my belief that the soul goes either to paradise or hell to await judgement on the last day.  Born Again Christians, I believe, go directly to be with Jesus until the 1000 year reign begins and we return to earth with Jesus.

God also is three.  He has a body = Jesus, - a soul = The Father, - and a spirit = The Holy Spirit.

The difference being is that God's body, soul and spirit exist separately from each other whereas ours all exist together in the same space.  Our's do not separate until we have died on this earth.

The "man" we know of as Jesus has always existed.  He is known as The Word of God.

John 1:1 Tells us  "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God". - (Jesus Christ)

Genesis 1:2  Tells us "And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters" - (The Holy Spirit).

In the Old Testament when we read of God physically walking with man here on earth, as He did in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve, and of speaking face to face with Moses, and many other times,  it has been The Word of God (Jesus Christ) walking on earth.

Prior to being born as the Son of Man, in order to walk the earth The Word of God would simply change His glorified, heavenly body into a human body.

Four of the apostles saw Him do this in reverse when He ascended into heaven after His resurrection.  As he ascended He changed His human form for His glorified form.
