This Week’s Song
Facts

Shakespeare made up the name “Jessica” for his play Merchant of Venice.
Shakespeare probably based it on the biblical name ISCAH, which would have been spelled Jescha in his time.

Wow lots of changes again for you then Sandy. As in redecorating and of course moving and then trying to find the space for everything etc.
No redecorating because they do that too before they let the flat again.

Space for everything should be no problem because if I get the same style as I had before my furniture will go back in the same place and so will all my bits.  I also know the other style flats well, so I know exactly where everything with go if I get one of those.

What will be a sod is the actual moving.  I will obviously have to go and buy carpet before I move in and get that laid.  Now that I have all these men around I might hire a large van and get them to move me rather than get professionals in.  What I save on the actual move will buy my carpet.

Good afternoon!
I am really looking forward to living in a new place. We still don't have a firm answer on anything we've looked at though. Also Roomie is dragging his feet. He hates change & so is putting it off for as long as he can get away with, driving me crazy lol.

Elaine,
Hope you are able to find a new place
that you like.
Sometimes I liked moving as it gave me a chance
to get rid of things I did not really need
or had not used in a long time.

Sandy,
Sounds like you already know the furniture
layouts and have some strapping
young men to help. Wonderful!
Getting people to help with the move
is sometimes the most difficult part.

Hi Sally.
Hope you keep warm in the wind and cold.

Thanks Martha!
I try to drive safely always.
But more so when there is snow and ice.
(keeping my distance from others
driving to fast, etc.)

Toetapping,
Wonderful that he shares with the cooking!

Worked a long day
and was tired.
But I needed to wash my car.
I took it to one of the car washes
where you wash it yourself.
I think the steam inside
opened up my sinuses, too.
A two for one cleaning.  Smile

Good morning everyone. I've managed to land myself a nasty chest infection so not feeling the best. I got a maintenance page here earlier but it didn't stay long. Gas engineer coming to service the boiler soon so I'm trying to make myself move.

Fingers crossed on your car Martha. It's deciding when it's not worth the bills any more that's the toughie. Mine can wait. I had to stay in for this engineer and feel terrible anyway so I'm going to put it off until I feel better. I can live without the heater for a short while.

Good luck getting a place Elaine and fingers crossed you get the one you want too Sandy when the time comes. I'd love the view of the woods after this concrete jungle but hold out for a sea view if that's your preference.

Martha temps the same all week 28C and 22C at night and rain. Something to look forward to. Agree about once a car starts needing parts it goes on and on.

Kerri I am lucky he loves cooking but it is my turn tonight.

Sandy hoping it is not too long and you are relocated and I am sure you will much happier.

Whisper hope you start to feel better soon.

Good to see you Elaine and Linette , it has just clicked I know you from Canadian Bacon. Marti great to see you here too.

I have started my spring clean, only it usually takes so long and finish in our spring, September. Had a good night out at an Irish Pub last night with friends.  Everyone have a great day.

Thanks Joy. Still pretty sick but it's nothing too serious. Just one of those things that makes you feel like death warmed up.

Had a call last night to say my new specs are ready but I couldn't face the trip to collect them. Maybe later today if I survive doing a few chores this morning.

Goodness, so many of you are not well.  I hope you are all feeling better soon.

I had to chuckle at your sinus's clearing up because of washing your car Kerri.

I went to an Irish dance once when I was a teen Joy.  It was an amazing evening.  Something I'll always remember.

I'm sure a place will become available just as I need it.  I hope you find the perfect place for you Elaine.

I've always loved moving Kerri.  Have to admit though that as I get older, although I still love the moving, it frustrates me that I'm not as strong as I was and therefore need more help when moving packing boxes around.

Good morning all from a still dark Perth.

Hope all the ones feeling sick are feeling better soon Smile I hear a lot of people coughing around here so I keep my distance a bit.

I've had a lazy day and night yesterday and read my book and went to sleep early. Must have needed that sleep but woke up at 4.30am.

Friday again .. my the weeks fly by.

Sandy I know how you feel as that is my problem too; needing help with heavy lifting these days.

Mine too Joy and that's the first time ever they haven't needed adjusting. I did get them from a different place this time so maybe they're better at measuring in the first place. I don't like either pair but then I never do when I get new ones. lol

I need to wash Kerri's car. I've got blocked sinuses for the first time in about thirty years. I used to get that problem after each cold I got but I haven't had a cold since 1986. The problem this time was caused by an ear infection but the effect is still the same. Horrible!

Still feeling rough but once I've done mine and mum's grocery shopping I plan on having a lazy day and hopefully a lie in tomorrow. It's pouring with rain and windy so it will be fun trying to keep my windscreen clear while I go shopping. lol I must do something about that heater next week.

Happy St. Patrick's Day to anyone celebrating.

PostSubject: Re: March Chatter   17/03/17, 09:48 am

I was nervous going to the Irish dance as I only knew the Irish girl that invited me and I seemed to be the only English person there.  I was only 17 at the time and you know how you can feel like a fish out of water at that age.  I only went with her because she begged me.

I was sitting down with my friend as they announced what the  first dance would be, as were many others, and I assumed that I would stay sitting down and just enjoy the music.  But within seconds I had a chap in front of me asking me to dance.  I tried to say no and explained that I simply didn't know Irish dances so I would be an awful partner.  He wouldn't take no for an answer so I got up and join in the set with him.

Everyone in the set was amazing to me.  I think I pleased them because I was dressed all in green and my skirt was a green kilt.  So it seemed I had taken the trouble to dress especially for them.  For the first couple of minutes which took us through the basic movements of the dance, each chap I was having to partner was guiding me gently through the moves.

By the time we got back to the beginning of the round to start again I had the moves off pat and was then able to dance without the guidance and I realise that apart from how the clicked their feet and brought their knees up it was exactly the same as country dancing.

I was in the county dance team at school up to the age of 12 when we moved, and I was good enough to be part of the team that travelled to other schools for competitions.  I loved country dancing and really missed it after I left school.   So you can imagine how I ended up loving that Irish dance.

I wasn't allowed to sit down even for one dance.  I had a different partner for every one.  By the end of the evening I was clicking my fett and lifting my knees almost like a native Irish.  My friend, who was joining in the same sets as I was, was thrilled to see me loving it so much.

The Irish are an amazing people.  My Daughter has had to travel over there many times with her, now ex-husband's, work and she can't praise them all enough for the welcome they were given each time.

I got my application for a new flat in the post late last night.  The waiting list is a few months so I wont expect an offer too soon.  Everyone wants to live there, as it's such a fantastic place to retire in, so there is a waiting list.  Fingers crossed now I get one with a fantastic outlook.

I get fed up with the amount of times I sometimes have to take my glasses back because the focals aren't lined up properly.  I don't remember ever having the trouble, I do now, years ago.  I sweat that they are going to get them right.

I hope those of you that aren't feeling too good are all feeling better soon.

Ear and sinus infections are no fun Wendy. I used to suffer with both a lot.

Evening all ... just a quick check tonight before putting this tired body to bed.

The Irish are great fun. My brother married an Irish girl and the parties always got a boost from their singing and dancing and general good humour. Sadly most of them moved back to Ireland years ago.

I shouldn't complain because the glasses fit well and the focus is perfect. It's only the look of them I don't like. I never do. It's difficult to tell when you try them on because you can't see well enough. I'm sure I'll get used to them after a while and at least they work and are comfortable.

The weather is set to be wet and windy for a few more days yet. I'm planning on hibernating for the weekend.

The last time I bought glasses Sarah came with me.  I tried the specs on I fancied and then asked her to take a photos of me.  I then put my glasses back on and look at the photos to make my choice.  I intend now to do that everytime.

Where I used to live Geru, there was a patch of land that originally had a pub on it.  The pub was bombed during the last war and they turned that patch into a little walled into a grassed section with small blosom tree (no idea what they were) and seats for people to go and sit in in the peace and quiet.

When the blossom fell the whole ground was pink with it.  My little dog I had then, Bayley, used to love it in there at that time.  He would run and roll through the blossom scattering it as he did so. He just loved the smell.

@Elaine - Did you take that trip out on your scooter in the end?

@Martha - Good morning matie.  For a change, I write this as it is really both our morning time.  That doesn't happen often.  10:45 here and 6:45 there.

I was late getting up this morning as I didn't go to bed until 4am.  I slept like a log though.  But woke up with a back ache as I had laid on my stomach during the night which always gives my back jip.

Wendy,
You can come over and wash my car anytime! Haha
I hope your sinuses are feeling better.

Sandy,
How wonderful that your daughter was lucky enough
to travel to Ireland. I would love to visit Dublin
and also in the west, County Mayo.
Love the story about the Irish dance.

Elaine,
A little ride by the river sounds lovely.

Geru,
I can't wait until the neighbor's daffodils
poke their tiny heads upward.

Joy,
I need to do some Spring cleaning as well.
Our sliding glass door always needs a good
cleaning after winter has gone.

Martha,
Has your weather cooled down at all?

Hope everyone has a great weekend.
